(Please Subscribe, Add to Favorites, Request Monthly Tickets) Bright red blood seeped from the man’s forehead, and he looked at He Ao with disbelief, his body lurching forward before falling to the ground.

He Ao glanced at the pitch-black pistol in his hand and tucked it into his embrace.

He had obtained this gun from a vagrant this morning.

Unlike before, he didn’t throw it back but put it in his pocket because he saw the emblem of Stars City at the bottom of the gun handle.

It was the emblem of Nolanka Group.

Anything bearing this emblem was the fixed property of Nolanka Group.

Because Nolanka Group was very strict about their fixed assets, which were usually of good quality, items marked with the Nolanka Group emblem were popular in the market of Kaye City.

Sotis, Nolanka Group would dispose of so expired fixed assets or redundant properties, but when they sold these properties officially, they used a special destruction stamp to obliterate the emblem.

However, the gun He Ao had taken from the vagrant still had its emblem intact at the bottom of the handle, proof that theoretically, this gun should be in a warehouse of Nolanka Group, or in the hands of security personnel, not with a vagrant.

So for He Ao, picking up this gun was not robbing the vagrant of his property, but retrieving his company’s legitimate property.

As he pocketed the gun, He Ao’s gaze fell on the gun in the man’s hand, which looked similar to the one he was holding.

He walked around the table to the corpse and picked up the pistol from the man’s hand.

The bottom of this pistol also had a Stars City emblem.

Not destroyed.

At the sight of this emblem, He Ao paused montarily.

A vagrant having a gun that was supposed to belong to Nolanka Group could be explained as an employee’s negligence that the vagrant had found.

But having the sa gun in the hands of a dia executive, where the differences in their life environnts were so vast, could no longer be explained by negligence.

He Ao tossed the gun back down.

Just then, hurried footsteps stopped at the door.

The person outside tried to pull open the door without success, then quickly moved to the window and flipped through the broken windowpane into the room.

“Mr.

Vian?”

No sooner had Jelang landed than he saw He Ao slowly rising to his feet, then his eyes lowered to the corpse on the floor.

The pool of fresh blood was about to reach He Ao’s feet.

He Ao took two steps back, picked up the cara on the table, copied the video into his wristband, and then casually tossed it to Jelang,

“He was going to kill ; I acted in self-defense, and it’s all recorded.”

Jelang: ?

After glancing at the body on the floor, he turned on the cara, found the recently recorded video, and played it.

The video wasn’t long, and Jelang quickly found the segnt he was looking for.

In that segnt, the man had his gun pointed at He Ao from behind, and as he was about to pull the trigger, He Ao swiftly drew his gun and shot the man in the forehead.

anwhile, He Ao was already carrying the silver-gray tal box, flipping out the broken window.

“Why are you here!?”

Watching He Ao leave, Jelang quickly shut the cara and asked loudly from the window.

“This office building is the property of Nolanka Group,”

He Ao waved his hand, “my property was in danger, so I ca to inspect it.

If there are any issues, you can contact my lawyer.”

With that, his figure gradually disappeared into the ruins of the corridor.

Jelang glanced at the body on the floor and let out a soft sigh.

——

Lina rubbed her disheveled hair, stepping out of the luxurious office building with a look of bewildernt.

She hadn’t slept in three days while planning and organizing this program.

Her face looked haggard, with deep dark circles encasing her bloodshot eyes.

The warm sunlight fell upon her, making her instinctively step back.

After several seconds to adjust, she was able to stand naturally under the bright sunlight.

Behind her stood two tall security guards at the entrance, watching her intently.

At that mont, she found it sowhat amusing.

These guards were hired to be in charge of security, towering figures, yet they were incapable of acting even slightly during danger, rely directed by the boss to shoo her away, a woman weak in physique.

The two security guards sensed Lina’s gaze and turned their heads away, not eting her eyes.

But what fault did these guards have?

Lina withdrew her gaze.

They were just following the boss’s orders after all.

If they refused, they would end up fired like her, losing their jobs and ans of survival.

Lina aimlessly walked around the towering office building.

Prior to today, she thought she had seen enough of the world’s darkness.

For work, for the sake of earning money, she could lower her moral standards substantially.

She could satisfy the boss’s request, creating a program filled with deceit for the sake of traffic.

She could also calmly accept the fact that for this project, she worked nonstop for three days and nights without sleep,

She thought her standards were already low enough, but the boss’s actions today completely shattered her bottom line.

She couldn’t understand why, for the sake of traffic, for the sake of making money, one could recklessly destroy another’s reputation and life.

She didn’t like Jet.

This host was annoying and enjoyed being sarcastic, often revealing his discrimination against people like her who had climbed up from the bottom,

But that shouldn’t be the reason he was placed in front of the eyes of millions to be mocked and ridiculed.

Especially since this mockery and ridicule were just for the boss to make more money.

Would the boss himself be willing to post a video of him crying in pain online to draw traffic?

What right did he have to make money from soone else’s reputation?

Jet’s encounter made her grieve as though it were her own tragedy.

An explosion sounded above Lina’s head.

She looked up and saw the black smoke rising along the wall.

It must have been a bomb that exploded.

The distance was too far, she couldn’t see where the explosion had taken place.

She lowered her head and continued walking along the wall of the office building.

She suddenly felt that she was out of place in this world; she couldn’t break through the last line of defense or silently pretend she hadn’t seen anything.

Perhaps, she just wasn’t cut out for this industry.

At that mont, she felt a black shadow fall from the sky, crashing in front of her.

Bright red blood splattered her face.

Her brain lost the ability to think in an instant.

She stared blankly at the blood-covered figure in front of her, a figure she knew all too well.

Host Jet

The only thought in her mind at that mont was,

Jet was dead.

This sharp-tongued host, it seed, had jumped from the building and committed suicide.

The worst outco she had anticipated had occurred.

She wanted to cry, but she just retched twice, unable to cry.

Jet was dead, would she be next?

Empathizing, if she were in Jet’s position, seen at her worst by millions of people, could she stop herself from committing suicide?

She couldn’t.

All she felt was intense fear.

The boss didn’t sacrifice their reputation; he sacrificed their lives and reputations.

She couldn’t control any of it.

Even if she left this company and went to another, she couldn’t be sure she wouldn’t end up like Jet, becoming a sacrifice for the boss’s profit unknowingly.

Her life and death were not in her own hands.

“Fear, anger, resentnt,”

A deep voice rang in her ears,

“Afraid that one day life will no longer be your own, afraid of being played like a clown, afraid that despite hard work you’ll still be rcilessly abandoned.

Why has the world beco like this, why does one’s life have to beco the ‘cost’ for others to make money?”

This voice, like a devil’s whisper, tempted her soul,

“Do you want to change the world?

Do you want to change everything that’s twisted?

Even if it’s like fighting against the odds, even if it’s like a dying beast struggling in its last breath?”

A cold business card was placed in her hand, “If you’ve thought it through, you can co here and find .”

Only at this mont did Lina co back to her senses, she turned her head to look behind her.

She saw only a man carrying a silver-gray tal box, with a tall figure, getting into a pitch-black sedan.

She lowered her head to look at the business card in her hand.
