Capítulo 1637: Chapter 1637: Breaking Through to C-level
The night sky deepens gradually, approaching dawn.
A faint aroma fills the narrow little shop.
That’s the scent of flour expanding in the oven, with a crisp, charred sll.
He Ao leaned back on a small chair, sitting at the entrance of the shop, with Sui perched on the back of the chair behind him.
The street under the night sky was unusually quiet, the entire area had been sealed off by the Abnormal Association, leaving only this small bakery with its dim yellow lights on.
He Ao glanced at his field of view displaying his physical fitness: 300.
This seems to be the limit for D-level. His physical fitness hadn’t changed in several hours, the dense ‘Qi’ was currently piling up in his body, pressing against him.
The pendant on his chest lightly swayed, attracting the surrounding energy to slowly converge.
He took a deep breath.
The ‘Qi’ gathered at his feet slowly amassed below his navel, then quickly surged upward, while the ‘Qi’ in his mind gently moved downward.
Finally, the two clusters of Qi converged toward his chest.
However, these two swirling masses did not directly and violently collide but instead began to gradually separate into fine strands, moving toward the chest in advance to rge and collide with each other.
Slowly approaching, slowly rging.
The speed was slow, but very stable.
“The bread is ready,” after an unknown amount of ti, an elderly voice sounded from the depths of the shop, “Who wants so delicious little bread?”
“, , !” Sui flipped and then—’pa!’—she fell from the back of the chair and crashed to the ground.
Instantly, her body reford on the ground, and she scurried into the depths of the shop.
“Coming.”
He Ao also stood up with a smile and walked into the shop.
At this mont, the elderly was pulling open the oven, and He Ao reached out, helping the elderly slide the baking tray from the oven and placing it on a nearby rack.
Sui, eager to try, had already climbed onto the rack and pounced as soon as the baking tray was out.
“Careful, it’s hot!” the elderly quickly said as he watched her.
But Sui was already on the edge of the baking tray, and she shouted ‘ah!’ as she switched feet, dancing around.
Yet even so, she bounced from foot to foot, grabbing a freshly baked piece of bread and jumping aside.
She took a bite of the bread, and as crumbs flew around, she exhaled in large puffs, “Delicious, delicious.”
Seeing this scene, He Ao chuckled silently and also reached out to grab a piece of bread.
Within him, the two swirling currents of Qi finally completely fused at that mont.
Then this spiraling Qi surged upward, rushing towards He Ao’s brain.
“Be careful, it’s hot, Loren,” the elderly quickly said from the side.
“It’s much cooler, the weather’s so cold now,” He Ao smiled, picking up a small croissant and taking a bite, “It’s very tasty.”
The rapidly cooled crust and hot soft crumb burst open in his mouth, flooding it with a rich wheat aroma.
The glow of dawn lit up the horizon, sketching the city’s silhouette, casting specks of light on the narrow street.
Bang—
As if so kind of closed door was slowly pushed open, under the faint dawn light, a divine sense gathered in He Ao’s mind.
Shortly after, a second one followed.
Only when the second one was completely ford did the gathering speed slow down.

Martial Arts C-level.
Physical fitness increased by nearly one hundred.
From now on, the divine sense for He Ao was no longer completely non-renewable power.
“Loren, what’s the matter?” the elderly asked slowly, watching He Ao holding the bread in a daze.
“Nothing, Grandma,” He Ao took another bite, a crisp sound at his mouth, “It’s very delicious.”
“It’s just delicious!!!” Sui imdiately echoed.
By now, she had finished one and reached for a new piece of bread, bringing it to her mouth.
Her small mouth nibbled and left small dents one after another on the new bread.
“As long as you like eating it,” the elderly looked at the two, leaning against the side of a cabinet, a faint smile on her face.
She still hadn’t fully recovered from last night’s shocking events, but now thinking back, it seed like it was nothing.
Buzz—
Just then, He Ao’s wristband vibrated slightly.
He lifted the wristband, looking at the contents within.
It was a text ssage from the coach.
He and Sianna had arrived at Vilensis and boarded the Nolanka Group’s airship, preparing for takeoff.
He Ao lifted his gaze, and Eve naturally projected the airship’s readiness state onto his glasses and connected to the airship’s internal surveillance cara.
He Ao quietly watched the coach and Sianna sitting near the portside window, occasionally glancing outside.
In his gaze, the airship’s readiness state changed to takeoff, and the cara’s footage gradually began to shake.
He Ao looked down at the ssage on the wristband and replied with a phrase.
[Safe travels]
After a brief delay, the man in the surveillance imdiately raised his wristband.
At this ti, a new call was coming in.
Reid.
He Ao answered the phone.
“Soone from headquarters has arrived, they’re on their way. He heard about last night’s incident and wants to et you,” said Reid directly and to the point.
“Didn’t they just leave from Vilensis yesterday?” He Ao asked with so confusion, “So quickly?”
The coach boarded the airship the night before, taking a day and a half to reach Vilensis, and He Ao had purchased the express ticket.
“Actually, they left just last night, but due to the ergency situation, they took a special flight route,” Reid said quickly, “They arrived overnight.”
“Planes are indeed much faster. What does he want with ?” He Ao asked directly.
“He probably wants to understand the specifics,” Reid said softly, “I have already reported last night’s incident directly to headquarters. He might have received so orders, but there shouldn’t be any issues.”
“Alright, send the location,” He Ao nodded slightly, “I’ll head over in a bit.”
“Sure,” Reid responded, “I’m right here at the street corner where we t last night. You can co et directly, and I’ve kept your gun case, rember to take it.”
“Alright.” He Ao nodded and hung up the call.
He lifted his gaze, looking at the surveillance footage in his glasses.
The airship was already airborne, and according to Eve’s ssage, everything was normal.
The route from Vilensis to Kaye City was operated solely by the Nolanka Group, and it was a long journey.
Entering or leaving the northeastern region of the Federation was no easy task.
Moreover, Kaye City was in the southern Federation.
He Ao raised his hand and turned off the surveillance.
He took a bite of bread, lifted Sui who was grabbing the third piece of bread, and turned to the elderly woman beside him, “Grandma, I might have to go sowhere after I return. Would you like to accompany ?”
The elderly woman looked up at him, her expression puzzled.
······
Street Corner · Temporary Command Post
He Ao passed through the busy crowd, with Sui sitting on his shoulder, biting into a piece of bread, “There are so many people here.”
“Yes.” He Ao reached the street corner and looked at the tent’s flap, raising his hand to pull it open and look inside.
“Everyone is temporarily appeased.” At that mont, Reid’s voice ca from behind the curtain.
He turned his head when he heard the curtain being pulled, and upon seeing He Ao, he smiled, “Loren, you made it?”
The decor inside the tent was simple, with an electronic map projection table and so basic office equipnt.
At the mont, there were only two people in the entire office, one was Reid, and the other was a blonde man in a white down jacket.
He turned his head when he heard Reid’s voice, looked at He Ao, and smiled, “Loren, hello.”
“This is the special agent from Vilensis, Ryanke.” Reid looked at He Ao and introduced softly.
“Hello.” He Ao glanced at Ryanke in front of him, nodding slightly and speaking softly.
“Hello.” Sui, sitting on He Ao’s shoulder, also waved the bread in her hand, happily.
“This is Sui.” He Ao introduced, seeing Ryanke’s confused look.
“Miss Sui, hello.” Ryanke nodded lightly.
Clearly, he hadn’t fully grasped the current situation yet.
“Reid told you have sothing to discuss with ? About the anomalous event at the orphanage?” He Ao asked Ryanke softly.
“Not ,” Ryanke shook his head and smiled, “I don’t have the authority to discuss the orphanage’s anomaly with you.”
He stepped aside, “But coincidentally, the person who is looking for you is also here.”
A holographic projection appeared, which had been blocked behind him.
There was a man in a pale blue suit, seemingly sitting in a classical office.
He looked at He Ao, smiling, “Loren, hello, you may call Denon. I am the president of the Abnormal Investigation Association.”
“Wait?” He Ao looked puzzled at the man in the projection, his voice hoarse, “Are you the president?”
“Without a doubt,” Denon smiled, “Loren, you may not realize how many lives you saved last night.”
As he spoke, Reid on the side picked up a docunt from the table and handed it over, “This is the area covered during last night’s orphanage anomaly expansion.”
He Ao, sowhat puzzled, took the docunt and looked at the map on it. It was a bird’s-eye view of the entire Xiluo City, with approximately one-third of the area marked in a faint red color.
He paused slightly, lifting his head to look at Reid, “Did it cover such a large area?”
“Yes,” Reid sighed, “Last night’s orphanage released power instantaneously, covering the entire mid-western area of Xiluo City. Even though it wasn’t a densely populated area, we estimate over 300,000 people were affected.”
“It sounds like a casually written number with a few zeros added at the end.” He Ao looked at the docunt in his hand, his expression somber.
“I didn’t anticipate the coverage would be so vast last night,” Reid said to He Ao, “The anomaly spread out entirely out of control at the mont, and Chen and Wes only managed to temporarily lock down the surrounding area. They didn’t have enough ti or manpower to identify the affected range.”
He sighed again, “The good news is, the power diffusion was short-lived and it happened at night, so many people were asleep and it didn’t cause severe chaos. We’ve drawn all available forces and even sought the City Defense Army’s help to stabilize the situation temporarily.”
“If, last night, you hadn’t converged the orphanage’s power before it ‘reset’,” the holographic projection of Denon intervened, “the situation wouldn’t be as good as it is now.”
He looked at He Ao, “According to our previous records, even in the best-case scenario, at least 100,000 people would’ve died in this disaster. You’ve saved them and countless families.”
“What you say is a bit much for to accept.” He Ao flipped through the information, shaking his head.
“You can accept it; it’s your rit,” Denon looked at He Ao with a smile, “We have determined that the ‘orphanage’ is a Level 1 anomaly, and a dangerous one at that. As the main contributor to resolving the orphanage event, the association will confer you the ‘dal of Honor.’ With this dal, you’ll gain the status of an honorary director of the association.”
“And what about Reid?” He Ao looked at Reid on the side.
Reid was taken aback.
“The association won’t forget his contributions,” Denon smiled, “I’ve already applied for a ‘Contribution dal’ for him, awarded to the association’s active staff.”
The man in the white jacket looked at Reid and smiled, “Reid, you’re due for a promotion.”
“Ahem,” Reid, seemingly unaware of this, coughed in embarrassnt, “I’m open to the president’s arrangents, but the main credit for this incident goes to Loren; I just followed his lead and did a few things.”
He Ao didn’t know what this ‘Contribution dal’ entailed, but it seed to be sothing good.
At this ti, Denon had already brought the topic back, “Reid’s reward will co soon,”
He looked at He Ao, “But I heard from Reid that you handled the anomaly sect’s ‘Dean’ alone last night?”
The atmosphere inside the tent instantly quieted down.
Here it was, this was what the other side wanted to ask.
He Ao looked at Denon, speaking directly without going around in circles, “I dealt with it, but Finn helped during the process.”
“Finn? Is that the ‘friend’ Reid ntioned you have at the orphanage?” Denon looked at He Ao, “Was he able to penetrate through to the inner side?”
“I don’t know how he did it,” He Ao contemplated, “But I think, most likely, it’s also one of the ‘rules’ of the orphanage.”
