Capítulo 1604: Chapter 1604: Sui’s Origins

“But—” The young man hesitated.

“We still can’t find the information,” Reid held the file, shaking his head, “I doubt we’ll find anything today either. Let the colleagues on the early shift handle the rest of the search, and let everyone go back to rest. We were busy all night yesterday, everyone is tired.”

He opened the file and continued, “Contact the City Police Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, tell them they can end the search for now. As for etings, I’m available this morning, they can co directly.”

“Understood,” the young man looked at Reid in front of him, “Captain, you should also get so rest.”

“Okay, I’ll rest once this is all over,” Reid smiled, “Don’t worry about , I’m a Transcendent, not sleeping for a few days is no problem.”

The young man nodded gently and turned to leave.

Reid looked at the file in his hand, his gaze sweeping over the empty office hall.

He walked to a window-side workstation, sat down, flipped through the files in his hand, and sighed lightly.

“Doesn’t sound like you had much success last night?” A voice suddenly rang beside him, and a burly shadow covered his face.

In that mont, Reid’s body suddenly tensed, but his expression remained unchanged, he looked up towards the direction of the voice.

A burly young man stood beside him.

“Seems like you didn’t rest well last night, your reactions are slower,” He Ao placed his hand on the back of the chair at the adjacent desk, smiling as he asked, “May I sit in this chair?”

“Of course.” Reid nodded.

He gazed at the young man in front of him, his tense muscles hadn’t fully relaxed.

His condition may have declined, but not to the point where he couldn’t detect soone coming near him just because of one sleepless night.

Moreover, under normal circumstances, if soone ca in, the front desk should have reported it to him.

The fact that the young man was able to appear here ant he smoothly bypassed the front desk and the door security asures, arriving at his side without triggering any alarms.

Even though this area wasn’t the core zone of the Association, and security wasn’t particularly strict, it wasn’t that easy to get in.

The day before yesterday, yesterday, today—each ti he t this young man, he seed stronger than before.

“Okay, shall we continue the previous topic?” And just as Reid was pondering, He Ao had pulled up a chair, turned it around, and sat directly in front of Reid, smiling.

“Actually, it’s nothing much,” Reid closed the file in his hand and tossed it aside casually, sighed, “Our plan last night was tactically a success, capturing a large number of rcenaries and gang mbers hired by the Abnormal Sect, significantly cleaning out the basic forces of the Abnormal Sect in the city.”

“But didn’t catch their core mbers?” He Ao smiled.

“Yes,” Reid shrugged, “their response was very quick, they opted for division before we widened our net, all core related personnel either committed suicide or disappeared, cutting off any line to the core completely.”

“Decisive, ruthless,” He Ao smiled, “doesn’t sound like soone who could arrange a large group to hunt down.”

“Yes, that’s why I suspect the decision-maker for your pursuit and the one who quickly cut ties afterward are not the sa person,” Reid nodded, “but obviously, the latter decision-maker is more difficult to deal with.”

At this mont, the door to the eting room opened, Lily, with ssy hair, wrapped in a blanket and still drowsy, erged from the office, looked at Reid in a daze, “Captain?”

“Things have reached a conclusion,” Reid stood up, looked at her, and smiled, “you should go ho and rest first, I’ll contact you if anything cos up.”

Lily blushed, recalling that she fell asleep in the eting room, then nodded gently, “Alright.”

Only then did she notice He Ao sitting next to Reid, and was slightly puzzled, “Loren?”

“Good morning.” He Ao looked at her and smiled.

“Good morning.” Lily nodded, she walked towards the elevator in a daze, then seed to rember sothing, quickly returned to put the blanket on a nearby office desk, and then hurriedly ran out.

“Alright,” Reid turned his head towards He Ao, “let’s talk about your matter now, the information sent over by the City Police Bureau is in the eting room.”

With that, he walked straight into the eting room.

He Ao got up to follow him, also entering the eting room.

Then he picked up a tablet placed at the edge of the eting table, handed it to He Ao, “The information of the final tenant of the Unchangeable House and their family is all here.”

He looked at He Ao, “The information about the granddaughter of the last tenant I ntioned to you yesterday is also in here.”

He Ao took the tablet and opened the files.

“That ‘granddaughter’s’ na, it’s ‘Sui,’ right?” Reid walked to an integrated coffee machine in the corner of the eting room, “Would you like so coffee?”

“Black coffee, with so ice, thank you.” He Ao flipped through the files on the tablet, speaking slowly.

“Not many young people drink black coffee.” Reid smiled, took a disposable coffee cup, and placed it under the coffee machine’s outlet.

“But it’s quite effective for staying alert,” He Ao smiled, holding the tablet and directly sat in a nearby seat, “Did Lily co back last night and tell you about the ‘Unchangeable House’ and ‘Sui’?”

“This young lady may be young,” Reid poured two cups of coffee, walked over, and handed one to He Ao, “but her professionalism is quite good, after all, this is a characteristic of the Unchangeable House that no one had ever discovered.”

He Ao accepted the cup of coffee, smiled, “Looks like I won’t need to bother you to investigate more deeply, you’ve found all the relevant information.”

“It wasn’t who found it, it was the Chief of the City Police Bureau, he found them for , these pieces of information aren’t available in the Abnormal Association,” Reid held the coffee, bringing it to his mouth, he looked at He Ao, “that ‘girl’ isn’t exactly ‘lucky,’ her ‘exploits’ are right there on the first two pages.”

He Ao took a sip of the coffee while flipping through the tablet’s files as he listened to Reid talk.

“After her grandparents died, the girl was adopted by a distant aunt,” Reid held the coffee, stood by the window, gazed outside, and said hoarsely, “the ‘inheritance’ left to her by her parents and grandparents was also managed on her behalf by this aunt.”

He paused for a mont, then continued, “But it was clear that this amount of money wasn’t much, so shortly after this distant aunt adopted the girl, she sent her away. I have reasons to believe that this aunt gained a lot from the ‘adoption,’ because the financially strapped family she originally had moved to Vilensis with her husband and family after sending the girl away.”

He Ao flipped through the data on the tablet, arriving at the last place where ‘Sui’ was given up.
