Capítulo 1599: Chapter 1599: Vestara’s Spear
The content of this interface is very simple: his Bounty Hunter level and total bounty amount, and below are so advertisents for Note Intelligence’s smart devices.
He Ao directly opened the Bounty Hunter level interface.
A level introduction interface appeared in his field of view.
He Ao selected the level introduction interface of ‘D-level Bounty Hunter’ and looked at the upgrade conditions below.
*Complete one D-level bounty mission/capture or execute a D-level criminal (2/1)
*Total bounty amount reaches 200,000 federal coins (215,920/200,000)
Below is a glowing, flashing tab [Click to Upgrade].
He Ao looked at this upgrade tab, falling into a brief silence.
This upgrade, once the requirents are t, still requires a manual upgrade.
If soone didn’t click manual upgrade and wanted to view the D-level Secret dicine in the mall, wouldn’t the unlocking fee be just thrown away for nothing?
Seems like they’re just here to make money off the unlock fee, huh.
He Ao glanced at the unlock conditions, the first one, completing the task, executing a D-level criminal is the sa as E-level.
The second bounty total is an additional ‘promotion condition.’
And it seems that this total bounty is not calculated by the amount of money earned cumulatively, but by the money left in the system.
He Ao had previously withdrawn more than two thousand federal coins, which were not counted in this total bounty.
In other words, to upgrade from E-level to D-level, before upgrading, at least 200,000 federal coins must be retained in the system and not withdrawn.
And the unwithdrawn money ans it hasn’t been paid yet and is still in the account of the Bounty Hunter Organization.
The interest and investnt inco generated during the holding of this money go to this organization.
This Bounty Hunter Organization, in every way, seems very Federation, creating fee points wherever possible, or leveraging cash flow.
He Ao sighed lightly and clicked the upgrade tab.
Accompanied by a dazzling flash of light, his level beca a D-level Bounty Hunter.
He Ao glanced at the promotion conditions for a C-level Bounty Hunter.
*Complete a C-level bounty mission/capture or execute a C-level criminal (0/1)
*Total bounty amount reaches 10,000,000 federal coins (215,920/10,000,000)
······
Ten million?
He Ao looked at this number, silent for a mont.
Earning ten million, even for a C-level, takes quite a bit of ti.
And this ten million still has to be an unwithdrawable ten million, plus the restriction of completing a C-level mission.
It’s almost impossible for a normal D-level Transcendent to upgrade to a C-level Bounty Hunter.
It seems that this organization is indeed strict with the bounty hunter level card.
He Ao shook his head, put aside his thoughts, quickly exited the personal interface, and re-entered the mall.
Sure enough, this ti the D-level Secret dicine and formulas in the mall could be viewed, and a C-level tab also appeared.
Unlocking the C-level Secret dicine and formulas interface also required paynt, and this ti the unlock fee directly skyrocketed to 750,000 federal coins.
Given the previous ten million upgrade restriction, this 750,000 doesn’t seem like much.
Anyway, there’s no money now, so it can’t be unlocked.
He Ao browsed the D-level Secret dicines and formulas in the mall. There are 27 Talent Sequences in total for D-level, and 13 in the mall, but because there are no numbers, He Ao cannot determine whether these 13 D-level Talent Sequences correspond to the previous 15 E-level Talent Sequences.
But it’s probably not a full correspondence, the paths mastered by this association from F-level to D-level shouldn’t be that many.
After a cursory look, He Ao opened the item section and directly entered the newly appeared C-level items category.
Then he was stunned by the first item.
[Hamr of Fury]
[Price: 3,150,000]
Three million and one hundred fifty thousand federal coins, for one item.
He Ao suddenly felt that opening this interface now might have been a bit premature.
He shook his head and quickly scrolled down.
I don’t know if it’s because his permissions aren’t enough, but only a few C-level items were unlocked, and the list of C-level items was not long; soon, he had looked through all the items.
In the entire list, the vast majority of items cost over two million, with only one exception.
It was a silver long spear nad ‘Vestara’s Spear.’
The price is only 920,000 federal coins, almost a third of other items.
And the spear’s abilities ntioned in the description aren’t weak; the item description said that this spear has a strong destructive power against Extraordinary powers, can disrupt the structure of mystic techniques, and has high damage against Transcendents.
Additionally, in abnormalities, this spear can sowhat enhance or weaken certain abnormal rules.
This is the only Extraordinary Item in the item list He Ao saw, which has an impact on abnormalities.
In terms of abilities alone, this spear is considered a very powerful weapon in the C-level.
The strong ability paired with such a low price implies it must have so fatal flaw.
After finishing the entire item description, He Ao found a small line of text at the bottom of the item description.
[Based on past experience, possessing this item involves a certain level of risk, please purchase cautiously.]
He Ao glanced at this spear, which seed to be in Xiluo City, or a very nearby city.
The delivery shows it can be made to Xiluo City by noon tomorrow, free of delivery charge.
But placing an order requires paying fifty thousand federal coins as a deposit first. If you order but don’t want it, two thousand federal coins will be deducted from the deposit as a delivery fee.
He Ao withdrew his gaze.
This gun can interfere with anomalies, which suggests there might be so connection between the gun itself and the anomalies.
While pondering, he directly raised his wristband and made a phone call.
After a brief busy tone, the call connected, and Reid’s voice ca from the other end, “Loren, what’s up?”
“How is the situation on your side?” He Ao asked calmly, “I heard Lily say you’re organizing a citywide search.”
“Things aren’t going too well, but we’re making progress,” Reid seed a bit weary, “The City Police Bureau chief just asked about tonight’s ‘car chase scene’. Xiluo City isn’t scheduled for any big action movie shoots — big star, what’s your take?”
“Strictly speaking, it was a getaway from being chased by bad guys,” He Ao shrugged, “There are no big stars involved.”
“Alright then,” Reid chuckled, then turned to ask, “By the way, I’ve retrieved the body of that D-level Transcendent you left in the Radiant Building. Do you need to sell it to the Bounty Hunter Organization?”
“They buy those?” He Ao was slightly taken aback.
“Of course,” Reid laughed, “All Transcendent bodies are valuable resources.”
“I know, Talent Sequences,” He Ao responded slowly, “I just didn’t think the Bounty Hunter Organization would buy them.”
“They certainly do, otherwise, those Secret dicines in their mall wouldn’t all be concocted from Extraordinary Items,” Reid laughed upon hearing He Ao’s words. He didn’t ask how He Ao knew this but continued, “Have you checked the mall?”
“I have,” He Ao nodded slightly, “How do they reclaim the bodies, just hand them over directly?”
“The Bounty Hunters have outposts in every city in the Northeast. You can take it to them directly, or I can hand it over for you,” Reid said, “Once they verify it, they’ll pay on the spot, instantly credited, but they offer a pretty low price. A D-level Transcendent’s remains might fetch at most 400,000 federal coins.”
“What’s the normal offer?” He Ao asked quickly.
He knew the black market price, but Loren could ‘not know’.
“On the black market, there might be takers for over fifty, maybe even sixty if you find soone desperate enough,” Reid replied slowly, “But that’s a matter of luck and waiting — typically ten days to half a month. Without the right formula, the body might evolve into an Extraordinary Item, and you won’t get that price.”
He paused, “Black market prices are much higher, but so is the risk.”
“Do I get a bounty for discovering today’s anomaly?” He Ao continued asking, “Roughly how much?”
“I’ve already reported it,” Reid replied slowly, “It should be around 200,000 federal coins?”
“So little for discovering a Level 2 anomaly?” He Ao was slightly surprised, “Your association is pretty broke, huh?”
“Ahem,” Reid was montarily speechless, embarrassed, “You know, such a big association needs to operate — 200,000 federal coins isn’t small. Many people wouldn’t earn that in twenty years even without eating or drinking, and didn’t you take the core piece out of the anomaly?”
At this, He Ao instinctively looked up at the mannequin pulling the air fryer handle.
But he didn’t pause in his conversation, quickly saying to Reid, “I didn’t take it; it ca out on its own and I just helped. How can that be said otherwise?”
“Alright, alright,” Reid seed a bit helpless, “I’ll think of sothing and see if I can apply for so other benefits.”
“Can this money be credited by noon tomorrow?” He Ao decided to stop while he was ahead and turned to ask.
“It should be possible?” Reid’s tone was uncertain, “I’ll do my best to help you apply.”
“Do you have channels to dispose of that D-level Transcendent body for a higher price than the Bounty Hunter Organization, and get the money by tomorrow?” He Ao asked quickly.
“That urgent?” Reid was taken aback, then quickly figured it out, “You’re buying sothing? Supernatural items from the Bounty Hunter Mall?”
“There’s one thing,” He Ao glanced at the text in his glasses, “Vestara’s Spear — do you know its detailed information?”
“You’re already looking at C-level Extraordinary Items? Did you advance to D-level Bounty Hunter?” Reid was slightly surprised, then sighed, “That makes sense, considering everything you’ve done today, you’ve t the promotion criteria.”
He sighed, “Vestara’s Spear itself is a very powerful Extraordinary Item. While it’s cheap, I don’t recomnd buying it.”
“Is there so particularly severe negative effect?” He Ao asked in a low voice.
“We don’t know the specifics,” Reid shook his head on the other side, “But previous owners of this gun have mostly gone insane.”
He pondered, “Our current theory is that the gun has so sort of ntal influence that can corrupt a person’s mind and eventually drive them insane.”
“Is there no obvious effect from short-term use?” He Ao understood the implication in Reid’s words.
“From what we’ve seen, yes, but are you thinking you could avoid its negative effects through temporary ‘borrowing’?” Reid pondered briefly, then replied slowly, “But that’s actually impossible.”
“Why?” He Ao was slightly surprised.
“Once the gun is used, its curse will taint you,” Reid said hoarsely, “Even if you use it just once.”
Reid sighed, “I don’t recomnd purchasing this gun — periodically, soone will buy it, then go mad, and be eradicated by the Bounty Hunter Organization or Abnormal Association. It’s a repeatedly tragic cycle.”
“So, is this gun so cheap because the Bounty Hunter Organization is constantly reclaiming it?” He Ao suddenly had an epiphany, “Has the gun already paid for itself?”
Reid had a hard ti keeping up with his train of thought, but after a brief pause, he replied slowly, “In a sense, that’s true.”
“So is there a connection between this gun and the anomalies?” He Ao smiled, steering the conversation back, “Its description says it can influence the rules of anomalies. Is it also a physical entity brought out from an anomaly?”
“That’s also what we’re puzzled about,” Reid’s voice imdiately beca serious when anomalies were ntioned, “We once borrowed the gun from the Bounty Hunter Organization for research, theoretically speaking, there’s no evidence to prove the gun originated from an ‘anomaly’, it doesn’t have the common rule-defying traits Extraordinary Items from anomalies usually have.”
He spoke hoarsely, “However, the gun’s origin is a mystery. It first appeared after a powerful alternate space anomaly outbreak. We can’t determine if it’s an anomaly or just an Extraordinary Item, so it was returned to the Bounty Hunter Organization.”
“A powerful alternate space anomaly?” He Ao seized upon the keyword.
“I don’t know the exact information,” Reid seed to shake his head on the phone, “It happened over five hundred years ago. All data has been sealed by the association and requires board approval to access. Regardless, this gun is very dangerous, and I don’t recomnd purchasing it.”
“I’ll think about it.” He Ao nodded slightly, his gaze fixed on the air fryer beside him.
The fried chicken in the fryer had long been ready, but Sui saw him talking and said nothing, only pulling out the chicken and looking at him expectantly.
He Ao didn’t hang up but continued to ask, “Have you got any results on the ‘Unchanging House’ investigation I asked for?”
“Oh, I knew I forgot to tell you sothing. We have so preliminary results,” Reid’s voice seed to remind him of sothing He Ao had said.
Imdiately, there was the sound of keyboard typing and Reid’s calm voice, “The original tenants of the Unchanging House were an elderly couple who lived there with their young granddaughter. In 754, the couple passed away one after another, and the apartnt managent company reclaid the house.”
“What about the granddaughter?” He Ao continued to ask.
“According to the data we collected, the granddaughter was adopted by a distant relative,” Reid replied slowly, “That’s where our investigation ended. We don’t have any further information, but the City Police Bureau is helping with inquiries. If you want detailed information, you should have results by tomorrow morning.”
