Chapter 1586: Chapter 1586: Level 2 Abnormal
The pristine elevator interior had no buttons; only a small screen on the right side of the elevator door, which had displayed a downward icon since He Ao entered.
The elevator seed to be sliding downward continuously, yet contrary to the feeling of rapid descent was a special ‘overweight’ sensation in perception.
That is to say, his body felt like it was descending, but his senses told him they were going up.
This distorted sense of up and down wasn’t the first occurrence; He Ao had perceived it while climbing stairs.
Perhaps this was also one of the rules of this anomalous space.
However, this anomalous space seed more advanced than those He Ao had encountered like the ‘Life and Death Boxing Ring’ and the ‘Immutable House’; its rules couldn’t be easily explained with a few words.
It seed that anomalies too might have different levels.
Deep in thought, He Ao turned his head to glance at the doll sitting on his shoulder.
He was actually curious whether this doll could be taken out of the anomalous space.
Although the mbers of the Black Wolf Gang seed to rack their brains to take this doll out, they weren’t sure whether the doll could really be taken out.
Judging from Sui’s situation, she seed unable to leave the ‘anomaly’ for so reason.
Of course, with this more advanced anomalous space, there might be so other ‘special’ features.
He Ao’s gaze swept over to the wide, fat figure standing next to him.
At this mont, the wide, fat figure was staring intently at his toes, as if he feared seeing sothing he shouldn’t.
In fact, ever since He Ao picked up the doll and placed it on his shoulder, the wide, fat figure dared not lift his head to look at He Ao.
He didn’t know the doll’s peculiarity, but he seed to have a peculiar sharp sense, unaware even to himself, that could detect the danger of this doll.
Typically, this indicates high sensitivity.
Considering he survived in the corridor and finally managed to find a real exit.
Perhaps, he has so talent in ‘exploring’ anomalies.
Though whether it’s lucky or unlucky remains unknown.
Ding—
With a crisp sound, the elevator arrived.
The elevator doors slowly opened.
The sowhat familiar corridors and the densely packed figures in black work clothing appeared in He Ao’s field of view.
He lifted his head to look at the number on the wall, 13.
“We’re back?” The wide, fat figure saw this scene, and his tense body instantly relaxed, exclaiming almost tearfully.
“Only counts when we leave,” He Ao said softly, stepping forward, out of the elevator.
Though the elevator style resembled those of the building, it wasn’t the building’s actual elevator. He Ao exited right where he had co in, now surrounded by remnants of machine-gun fire from a previous battle.
As He Ao walked forward, the surrounding space seed to tremble slightly, and the doll on his shoulder also shivered a bit then.
But he eventually stepped out of the elevator, taking with him the red-dressed doll on his shoulder.
The wide, fat figure followed him out.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor beside them.
A familiar face appeared in He Ao’s field of view; it was Reid.
He looked at He Ao slightly stunned, then with a touch of disbelief said, “You ca out?”
“Yeah,” He Ao shrugged, glancing at the black-clad workers around, “I said let’s talk when I get out.”
Hearing this, Reid was slightly stunned, then laughed silently, giving He Ao a thumbs up.
At this mont of hurried footsteps, Lily ca running over.
She raised her head, looking at He Ao, her whole body frozen, her face full of shock.
He Ao nodded to her, then turned to Reid, “By the way, do you have a box?”
Speaking, he glanced at the doll on his shoulder, “A box that can fit this doll.”
Pausing slightly, he continued, “Make sure it’s transparent.”
This ti, Reid also glanced at the doll on He Ao’s shoulder, “What is that?”
“Don’t look at her face,” He Ao said quickly.
“Taken out from inside?” Reid was stunned again, “Hold on a mont,”
Then he quickly turned around, picked up a walkie-talkie, and rapidly said a few words.
Shortly, a cube glass box with sides about sixty centiters long was brought over by a smart transport robot.
Reid looked at He Ao, “This is a box we use to contain special items involving anomalies; the box is made of ultra-thin bulletproof glass.”
“Thanks,” He Ao reached out, grasping the glass handle of the box, lifted it and placed it on the ground.
Reid saw this, his gaze slightly focused.
But He Ao didn’t look at him; instead, he took the red-dressed doll off his shoulder and put it into the glass container, then looking at the doll, he softly said, “Wait a mont, I have so other things to do.”
Saying this, he gently closed the container door.
Then, he raised his head, looking at Reid, “Could you look after it for a bit? I still have sothing in this building, I’ll be back soon. Also, no one should look at this doll’s face.”
“Alright, I understand,” Reid nodded, looking at He Ao, “The City Police Bureau has already sealed this entire building; the gang mbers inside shouldn’t dare to act rashly now.”
“Okay.” He Ao nodded slightly, glanced at the nearby fire escape, and dashed towards it.
At this mont, Lily, standing behind, also snapped out of her shock, stumbling over to Reid, still not completely recovered from her surprise.
She looked at Reid, then at the doll in the glass box, hoarsely saying, “An anomalous space that can bring out items with anomalous abilities···”
“I know,” Reid nodded gently, “It’s at least a Level 2 anomaly.”
He bowed his head, looking at the glass container in front of him, “And it’s probably among the more dangerous Level 2 anomalies.”
At the side, the wide, fat figure slowly raised his hand awkwardly, “Are you guys an official organization? Responsible for controlling these strange things? Was it that gentleman who just called you over?”
“Not quite an official organization,” Reid raised his head, looked at the wide, fat figure in front of him, and smiled, “Would you like to talk about what you encountered inside?”
······
At the back of the Trinity Building, in the dense alleyways.
Wading through the dark, narrow alleys, He Ao arrived before a half-destroyed, exposed water channel.
Several corpses piled in the water channel, but none with familiar faces.
He looked at this water channel and remained silent for a mont.
This is a common dumping site used by the Black Wolf Gang.
By early tomorrow morning, the Corpse Guardian will co and remove all the bodies here, throwing them into the big furnace to burn them all to ashes.
He Ao withdrew his gaze and looked at the Tri-Tower behind him.
······
In an office on the 26th floor
He Ao fiercely smashed open the door, walked into the office under the gaze of a group of gang mbers, and stopped in front of the cabinet in the office.
There was a decanter on the cabinet. On the corners, there were still so dark red bloodstains that hadn’t been cleaned up.
He reached out and pulled open the drawer under the decanter.
The drawer contained so gems, gold, and a long, sowhat old hardware wallet.
He Ao was silent for a mont and picked up the hardware wallet.
This wallet was all cryptocurrency, used by the coach for his retirent savings.
He reached out, picked up the hardware wallet, and put it in his pocket.
Then he turned around and walked out of the office.
The dense gang mbers stood at the door, watching He Ao, watching the door behind him that had been smashed open.
After a brief pause, they made way, allowing He Ao to leave.
······
“…and then I t him, Mr. Loren,” the wide figure looked at Reid and said slowly, “He brought out.”
“Alright,” Reid put away the recorder in his hand, smiling, “Thank you for your cooperation.”
Just then, a moving detection robot blocked their path, “Lily, can you help move this crate aside?”
The staff controlling the robot looked at the sowhat large glass box and quickly said.
“Okay.” Being called, Lily imdiately raised her hand to grab the handle on the glass container, trying to drag the crate to the side.
But as she gripped the handle, her face turned red from exertion, she couldn’t move the glass box an inch no matter how hard she tried.
“That box is nearly two hundred kilos, you can’t lift it,” Reid turned his head, looked at Lily who was exerting herself on the handle, and gestured, “Use the robot.”
The nearby transport robot started slightly, extending a tal forked arm through the handle of the glass box, slowly lifting upwards.
Lily released her hold, panting heavily, stepping aside.
At this mont, Reid’s gaze slightly froze.
Crack——
With a crisp sound, the tal forked arm was abruptly torn apart.
Beep beep beep——
An ear-piercing alarm sounded from the transport robot, the ‘Overload’ warning jumped out of the display on its chest.
“Isn’t this robot supposed to handle at least two tons?” Lily looked bewildered at the scene, “Is the robot broken?”
She reached out, grabbed the handle, and exerted force again, but still couldn’t budge the glass container an inch.
Boom——
Just then, another large hand grasped the handle, slightly lifted, and easily picked up the glass container.
Lily looked up and saw a broad body that almost covered her entire form.
“Sorry.” He Ao lifted the glass container with a smile, turned sideways, and let the blocked detection robot pass in front of him.
The staff controlling the robot also looked at him with wide eyes, but after seeing his gentle smile, he nodded slightly, “It’s fine, thank you.”
At this ti, Lily finally ca back to her senses, looking at the ‘Loren’ beside her who still covered her like a shadow.
Loren, nearly two ters tall, almost all muscle, stood there like a small mountain.
She, at 1.7 ters, seed like a child next to him.
“Have you finished handling your matters?” At this ti, Reid also looked up at He Ao and asked.
“Handled so,” He Ao lowered his head, adjusting his emotions. He looked at Reid, “Let’s talk about that abnormal space just now.”
He glanced at the broad figure standing beside Reid, pausing slightly, “Have you two already talked?”
The glasses’ network link was restored, displaying the wide figure as a ‘regular citizen,’ with no criminal record or wanted status. However, He Ao wasn’t surprised; he could sense the wide figure’s thoughts from the beginning.
“Yes,” the wide figure quickly said, “but I only shared what I know.”
“Then I can save so breath,” He Ao nodded slightly.
He then quickly shared the general rules he summarized with Reid, including the two urban legends suspected of entering rules and the third rule of seeing black quicksand in wall cracks.
He still didn’t know how to avoid the third one, which was what Reid needed to study.
Additionally, the enticing sounds behind corridor doors, like children’s noises, fully open rooms, and the thod of entering the 27th floor by asking those children’s shadows ‘for directions.’
He also spoke about the rules related to the 27th floor, without hiding the encounter with the Black Wolf Gang.
Finally, it was about the rules of leaving.
As he narrated, Reid’s face grew more and more solemn.
Although He Ao spoke lightly and didn’t trigger a single rule, anyone else would probably die miserably.
The wide figure beside him also listened, slightly shrinking his body; strictly speaking, he encountered almost all these rules, and if not for a more reckless companion triggering the rules, he probably would have died long ago.
He had also co across the children’s shadows on the wall and nearly lost his hand by gazing at them, never expecting a ‘trade’ was possible with them.
“Now that this puppet has left with , I don’t know if opening the exit on the 27th floor’s center will still work, you might try other thods to ‘get directions’,” He Ao paused, contemplating, “like the reflections of those children on the walls; they are quite friendly.”
He paused, looking at Reid, “Of course, I don’t recomnd you take the risk of going in.”
“I don’t have such plans for now,” Reid shook his head, “we’ll temporarily seal off those two floors, the information you provided is very important, it could be a very dangerous Level 2 abnormal, you saved many people.”
“Level 2 abnormal?” He Ao asked with so confusion.
“It’s our grading of abnormals, generally those with minor harm, like the Life and Death Boxing Ring and static houses you know of, are Level 3 abnormals,” Reid explained to He Ao, “those extrely dangerous ones, capable of causing significant fatalities, are Level 2 abnormals.”
“Isn’t there also Level 1 above it?” He Ao asked further.
“That’s beyond what we can handle,” Reid shook his head, “Level 1 abnormals recorded by the association, once active, usually result in the deaths of thousands, even obliterating entire districts, they’re extrely dangerous abnormals.”
He shrugged, “But the probability of encountering such is extrely low, none have appeared in the last hundred years, so there’s no need to worry.”
