(Happy Dragon Boat Festival/Requesting Monthly Tickets) 1084: Chapter 1084: The Legacy of Ancient Civilizations?

(Happy Dragon Boat Festival/Requesting Monthly Tickets) “Under the gaze of the great ‘Destroyer K’.”

The man clad in a gold-threaded white robe waved the small dagger in his hand, his legs spread apart to the left and right, his entire waist bent and cracking sounds filled the air, as his body danced in an inhumanly distorted manner, slowly approaching the blonde girl in the sedan.

Harsh and contorted music played in this circular plaza, and the originally restless crowd had unknowingly fallen into a peculiar silence.

Even the few remaining guards patrolling among the crowd had stopped in their tracks, their gaze vacant as they watched the small platform in the center of the plaza, gazing at the blonde girl whose pupils lacked focus.

In the distance, fierce flas roared and quickly spread toward this place.

From ti to ti, panicked crowds ran over, and after seeing the scene in the plaza, as if drawn by it, they silently entered the plaza and rged with the crowd.

Ruilin squeezed out from the crowd and gazed at the center of the plaza.

The man on the platform was still performing a twisted dance, and the band below the platform was still playing their eerie music.

The band mbers, playing their instrunts with smiles on their faces, their eyes vacant, played each piano string and key as if they were imrsed in the most wonderful music in the world.

However, the ‘music’ they played was mixed with segnts of piercing screams, and just by listening, Ruilin felt as if her soul was trembling along with the music.

This seed no longer to be a tune played for humans, but rather, music played for so massive and distorted lifeform that could not be gazed upon by humans.

Ruilin raised her head and took a look at the people on both sides.

A guard holding a firearm, dressed in a white uniform, stood beside her, but this guard seed to not see her at all; his eyes, lacking focus, intently gazed at the central platform, gazing at the girl on that platform.

Ruilin lowered her head, not looking at the girl sitting in the sedan.

She had tried before; just from a distant glance at the blonde girl, she almost lost control and entered into the soul-lost crowd.

She lowered her head and step by step, approached the sacrificial platform.

So invisible force also accompanied her approach, continuously flowing into her body.

This force wasn’t domineering; rather, it was quite ‘gentle.’

It caressed Ruilin’s soul and perated her body, like a mother’s hand brushing over a baby’s palm, enveloping her mind in a deep drowsiness.

Countless tis, the sa thought had surfaced in Ruilin’s mind.

Just stop, sleep for a while, and all would be well.

But she knew she could not stop; her only kin was on the platform ahead.

This drowsiness was contesting her for control of her body, making every step increasingly difficult.

She had to bite her tongue hard and pierce her fingertips with the tip of a bronze sword, using the intense pain and the natural response of her body to stimulate her soul and gain a brief period of lucidity.

She passed by the band beneath the platform, the musicians still engrossed in their performance.

Her gaze swept over the cage behind the platform.

The missing persons previously imprisoned in the cages had now been pulled out, their gazes dull as they stared in the direction of the platform.

So similarly vacant guards were holding blades, aiming them at the hearts of these ‘sacrifices.’

“Great Divine Being bless our city-state—”

The man in the white robe opened his mouth, the sound in the air as sharp as wind rushing through a narrow mountain pass, “Eternal Rong Guang guide my sights—”

He raised the blade in his hand, dancing the twisted dance, plunging it toward the chest of the blonde girl, “Blood—Rong Guang—Destruction—Hope—”

Ruilin ascended the steps step by step.

The soulless band crazily fluttered their hands, playing the contorted screeching music.

People standing in the plaza unconsciously opened their mouths, joining in the singing of shrill songs along with the screeching music…

These layers of sounds drilled into Ruilin’s ears, tearing at her soul, pulling her into that endlessly ‘warm’ slumber.

Her fingers and lips now covered in blood, bearing the twisted and desperate drowsiness, she finally climbed the steps and reached the top of the platform.

The figure of the man in the twisted white robe was still frantically dancing; he seed to no longer feel any pain, fresh blood seeping from his twisted joints, staining his long robe.

His eyes too had lost their luster, and even though Ruilin was so close, he did not see her.

Ruilin’s gaze fixed on the dancing man, his chest seemingly having stopped heaving long ago.

It was as if, at so point during the start of the ceremony, he had already died, so invisible force sustaining his body, allowing his carcass to still conduct the ceremony.

Seeing this eerie scene, one would typically feel fear, but at this mont, Ruilin’s mind was void of any thoughts.

She gazed at the blonde girl inside the sedan chair, feeling her mind already blank.

She forgot why she ca, and why she was standing here.

She wanted to stop, to rge her soul into the warm and touching music spreading through the space, singing along with it.

But an invisible throbbing from the depths of her soul still drove her forward.

The man in the white robe soaked with blood had already pressed the tip of the knife against the blonde girl’s heart.

Ruilin watched this scene calmly, but she seed powerless to move forward; her shoes felt as if they had filled with cent, her legs too heavy to lift.

As if driven by instinct, she opened her mouth and violently bit her own tongue.

The intense pain montarily cleared her soul, and her body felt as if it was lifted by an invisible force, lightening slightly.

Without hesitation, she reached out and grabbed the girl sitting in the sedan chair, pulling her out.

The music and choir echoing across the square suddenly stopped as if paused, and the white-robed man dancing distorted dances also froze instantly.

Scattered mories erged in her mind; Ruilin, montarily clear-headed, didn’t have ti to think.

She looked up at the still dazed crowd around her, then towards the buildings behind these people.

Finally, her gaze landed on the flas blazing from the center of the city, on the towering obelisk.

Then, without hesitation, carrying the blonde girl on her back, she sprinted at the fastest speed of her life, darting down the platform, through gaps in the crowd, towards the raging inferno.

Bang—

The white-robed man fell backwards, his body landing on the altar.

Only at this mont did everyone seem to awaken from a dream.

“Ah!

Fire!”

“Run!

Run!”

Sharp cries echoed instantly among the crowd.

The temporarily freed sacrifices imdiately began to flee along with the crowd.

Panic and fear quickly spread across the square.

“The holy maiden has been taken away!!!”

Soon, soone noticed the vacancy on the altar and saw Ruilin who had already rged into the crowd.

“Catch that woman!!!”

Scattered guards quickly assembled, moving against the panicked crowd, chasing the woman carrying the blonde girl.

······

Boom—

Flas licked the edges of buildings, followed by a loud noise, the sturdy building engulfed in flas instantly filled with dense cracks, then collapsed thunderingly.

And not just this building, but the buildings wrapped in the sea of fire around it crumbled almost simultaneously like dominoes under the tremor of an invisible force wave.

Dust mixed with the flas, and the surging flas danced, illuminating two figures standing under the obelisk amidst this wreckage.

“So skill, not a wrongful death for Second Brother at your hands, I warned him many tis to learn so combat skills, his strength might not have an advantage against a real warrior who crawled out of dead bodies, but he wouldn’t listen,”

The skinny, white-haired elderly man limbered up his limbs, “Walking up to today, it was entirely his own fault, young man, you are quite good,”

He stood on the marble fragnts, lifting his green cane like a swordsman, looking at He Ao not far away, “But if this is all you got, with the next move, you’re dead.”

He Ao gripped the Shadowless Sword tightly, slightly spreading his hands, glancing at his battered palms.

That recent clash, he had anticipated and covered his palms with divine sense, but even so, the rebound force from the blade had torn the flesh of his hands.

Just that one exchange, the elderly with the Tiger Cane had burst forth nearly ten thousand strength.

Currently, He Ao, using all of Hao Yi’s clone skills and improved martial techniques amplified by 30%, barely reached nearly ten thousand strength.

And clearly, this was not the opponent’s limit; that was rely a probing move.

He Ao’s gaze swept over the elderly man’s body; similar to other mbers of Rong Guang Society He Ao had encountered, he also had five energy convergence points.

Only these five energy points were all converged together, coiling in the middle of his chest, appearing no different from a single energy point.

Moreover, He Ao also noticed, with every breath of the elderly man, the energy circuit inside him would flicker.

So invisible power was continuously spreading into his body from the air, from the ground, replenishing his consumption.

It seems, as long as he stands on the ground and keeps breathing, his power is endless.

He Ao looked at the Elderly’s pale hair, whose power was stronger and ca with an endless stamina cheat.

In such a case, to win, one can only seize so fleeting opportunity, or create one.

“Have you thought it through?

Young man,”

Tiger Cane picked up the cane in his hand, “If you’re ready, let’s begin.”

His figure vanished instantly, moving several tis faster than when he had clashed with He Ao before, and he appeared in front of He Ao almost in an instant.

The green cane chopped towards He Ao’s face instantly.

It all happened too fast; He Ao’s pupils contracted sharply, and he lifted the Shadowless Sword in his hand to hurriedly et the cane.

But in the next second, his figure flashed to the position behind where he had originally stood, close to the giant Obelisk.

He rely feigned his dodge.

Bang—

But evidently, the feint did not Deceive the Elderly Tiger Cane, as the cane still struck in front of He Ao, blocked by the Shadowless Sword.

The clash whipped up an invisible storm, sweeping through the surrounding flas and successively collapsing so buildings on the periphery.

The void itself seed to tremble at that mont, with continuous ripples washing over the smooth surface of the Obelisk Illusion.

Pfft—

He Ao spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his body flying backwards, barely stopping before the Obelisk Illusion, his back almost pressed against the Obelisk.

Elderly Tiger Cane, holding the cane, stepped back, instantly appearing at his original position, looking at He Ao with cane in hand, and hoarsely said, “Not bad movent technique, young man.”

Just now, He Ao’s flash backwards had almost Deceived him, but he discerned it at the last mont, closely followed He Ao’s steps to close the distance.

Although he didn’t kill He Ao with one strike, he did injure He Ao’s body.

“Your body is frailer than I imagined, young man.”

The Elderly raised his cane again, looking at He Ao, hoarsely laughing.

“Your movents are fast,”

It seed that significant contact with the Obelisk had caused so distorted ravings to be heard, He Ao moved forward with a pained expression, forcing his body away from the Obelisk, looked at the Elderly, and through clenched teeth, continued,

“Do these movent techniques originate from the ruins?”

Just now, the speed of the Elderly’s movent technique was so fast that even a regular Class B could not catch the afterimage.

Only with the power spread by the Eye of Truth could He Ao barely capture the Elderly’s actions.

While speaking, he had already returned his main consciousness to his original body and imrsed his Divine Sense in the Blood-Moistening Jade Pendant, an Extraordinary Item that could enhance his perception, and began to comprehend the Elderly’s movent techniques.

“We ourselves are a continuation of the ruins civilization,”

Elderly Tiger Cane shook his head, gazing at He Ao, “By nature, we are more civilized than you backward monkeys.”

“What do you an?”

He Ao raised his eyebrows.

“Want to know?!”

Elderly Tiger Cane raised his cane, instantly appearing again in front of He Ao.

The Shadowless Sword and the cane collided once more.

Bang—

He Ao’s body shuddered, and fresh blood spilled from his mouth.

Following that, Elderly Tiger Cane’s arm shook, his second-stage power burst forth, and the Shadowless Sword was instantly pushed down, its sharp blade almost touching He Ao’s nose.

This ti appeared to be a special Martial Technique, the impact from the collision greater than the first, He Ao’s figure bent, so fresh blood seeping from his skin.

His back again pressed against the Obelisk, intense pain spread across his cheeks.

He gazed at the gradually departing Elderly, trying hard to recall the changes in muscle and energy circuit when the Elderly just executed the Martial Technique.

At this mont, Elderly Tiger Cane had already returned to his original position, smiling as he looked at He Ao, “Young man, your willpower is strong,”

He grasped his cane, looked back at the city engulfed in flas, then raised his head to gaze at the towering obelisk, and said with a smile,

“Do you think the architecture here resembles that of Central Earth?

This is not actually the style of Central Earth, but the style of relics,”

“Unlike monkeys akin to robbers such as you, we are the true inheritors of the relic civilization,”

“including this City of Rong Guang, which is a dwelling place specifically left for us by the relics.”

He looked at He Ao and continued, “Aren’t you curious about what relationship ‘Destroyer K’ has with us?

Have you not noticed that whenever this Divine Being appears, it always involves relics?

Have you not noticed that He never shows His complete body?

“I can now tell you explicitly that this Divine Being is related to the relics, He is the Divine Being of the relics, and naturally, He is the Divine Being of us, the inheritors of the relic civilization,

“Moreover, His current state is not good, and He needs our Sacrifices to restore His complete body and create a new world.”

His gaze slightly narrowed as he looked at He Ao, “Young man, I’ve seen your profile.

The fools from the three major organizations suspect that you co from the relics, but it seems, you know nothing about the relics?”

He Ao: …

Too many fallacies, to the point where he didn’t even know where to start scoffing.

He really thought this guy was going to reveal so shocking secret.

But it seems this guy truly believes in all this.

Unlike the Second Vice President, this Elderly with the Tiger Cane is the only one who has had contact with that mysterious President of the Rong Guang Society, whom he worships and almost completely believes in his words.

His subordinates might think the Rong Guang Society is using ‘K’s’ na just to make a quick buck.

Although he indeed wants to make a quick buck, there’s also a part of him that truly believes in the story of ‘Destroyer K.’

At this mont, the Elderly with the Tiger Cane feels quite pleased, thus he is willing to share these things.

He Ao also knows he’s in a good mood because he did not go all out with his moves just now; he grasped He Ao’s limit and then deliberately pressed He Ao in front of the obelisk, mocking him.

Just like a cat playing with a mouse, wanting to slowly tornt He Ao to death here.

He still seems to hold a grudge against He Ao’s recent mockery.

Looking at the Elderly’s confident smile, He Ao slowly spoke, stuttering in the language of Copy World, also known as the second district of the relics, “Do you know about the Federation?”

Hearing He Ao’s words, the Elderly with the Tiger Cane was slightly stunned, then said in confusion, “What are you babbling about?”

Hearing these words, He Ao did not respond but just sighed softly.

In that instant, the Elderly with the Tiger Cane easily caught the mockery and ridicule in the young man’s eyes.

“You’re courting death!”

He angrily raised his erald green cane, his figure instantly appeared in front of He Ao, who was still standing in front of the obelisk.

This ti, He Ao did not block directly but sidestepped, with most of his body rging into the obelisk, grimacing as he dodged to the side.

Watching He Ao’s movents, the Elderly with the Tiger Cane paused mid-stride.

At this mont, most of He Ao’s body was within the towering illusion of the obelisk.

To hit He Ao, he had to thrust his cane and even part of his body ‘into’ the illusion.

He had heard warnings from the President before; although the real ‘Sky-Piercing Tower’ had left the City of Rong Guang, the lingering illusion here was also heavily contaminated and should not be approached.

This was also why he imdiately retracted his move the first ti he focused on He Ao, discovering He Ao had retreated to before the obelisk.

But now, seeing He Ao’s recent movent, he realized that the contamination within the obelisk before him seed much weaker than he had imagined, at least not as horrific as untouchable.

The young man before him, much weaker than him, made contact with the contamination of the illusion and only showed a pained expression, which seed nothing to fear.

But the teachings of the President still echoed in his ears.

If he kept hesitating like this and couldn’t attack the boy hidden inside the illusion of the obelisk, then he wouldn’t be able to kill this boy quickly.

At this mont, he faced a choice.

After a brief mont of pondering, he made his decision.

The erald green cane continued forward, striking fiercely towards the young man within the obelisk.

His move was very restrained, careful not to let his skin touch the obelisk.

Yet even so, faint ravings exploded in his mind.

And before he could react, he felt his cane, which did not strike the sword this ti but seed to be firmly grasped by a pair of hands that then violently pulled it forward.

The Elderly’s body, in a very short span of ti, entirely contacted the towering obelisk.
