1053: Chapter 1053: Three Feet Above the Head, There is a Divine Being (Vote for Monthly Pass) 1053: Chapter 1053: Three Feet Above the Head, There is a Divine Being (Vote for Monthly Pass) The rapid downpour pattered densely upon the windshield before being slowly swept away by the soft wipers.
The driver sitting in the front row carefully navigated the vehicle, proceeding along the congested narrow roads through the curtain of rain; he lifted his head to glance at the girl in the rearview mirror sitting in the back.
At the mont, the girl was leaning against the window in the back seat, staring out at the rain, seemingly lost in thought.
The ancient city, through the hazy rain, displayed a hint of its age-old atmosphere, yet the mist scattered amongst the traffic was like so invisible tentacle, shrouding everyone’s head.
After what felt like an extraordinarily long grinding journey, the black sedan slowly approached the intersection, signaled, and turned left onto the road to the left.
The flow of traffic on this side road was much sparser, allowing for a chance to accelerate.
The rapidly spinning rubber hubs sliced through the puddles on the ground, splashing droplets of water in their wake.
Lin Chichi, looking out the window, slowly withdrew her gaze, lifting her head to look at the rearview mirror ahead.
The elongated mirror reflected the light passing through the rear window, and in that blurred curtain of rain, a taxi was slowly following behind them.
Upon seeing this scene, the girl fell silent for a mont, lifted her hand to reach into the inner pocket of her jacket, then raised her head, looking at the quietly driving driver ahead, and spoke softly in not-so-fluent Trockese, “Hello, can you pull over, please?”
“Hm?”
The driver seed a bit puzzled, he turned his head to glance at the girl behind him, and slowed down his speech, “We are still far from the destination, and the rain is quite heavy outside.”
“It’s okay, just stop.”
Lin Chichi assuredly responded.
Hearing the girl’s answer, the driver hesitated for a mont, then gradually began to slow down, gently steering the car towards the roadside.
However, before he could co to a complete stop, a black sedan suddenly appeared from the rain ahead, then skidded, coming to a stop right in front of their car.
The driver had no choice but to slam on the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a halt.
“Damn!”
The driver couldn’t help but curse at the sight of the black sedan that had abruptly appeared in front.
At this mont, the taxi that was following behind them also quickly closed in, parking across the road, blocking the path behind.
The doors of the black sedan ahead flung open abruptly, and several n dressed in black quickly got out of the car.
“What the heck is going on?”
Startled, the driver glanced at the sedan and n in black ahead, then at the blocking taxi behind, and its driver who had disembarked.
“Get out, run, don’t look back.”
Lin Chichi shouted in not-so-fluent Trockese, then drew a fine steel dagger from her coat.
Just then, her phone in her pocket suddenly vibrated, as if a call was coming through; she looked up at the black-clothed n rapidly approaching, reached out, and threw the phone into the car, and then pushed the door open to step outside.
Almost at the mont she pushed the door open, the leader of the approaching black-clad n spotted her, and he shouted without hesitation, “It’s her, take action.”
The black-clothed n surrounding her instantly drew firearms from their pockets and aid at Lin Chichi, who was now out of the car.
With bated breath, she attuned to the rhythm of the power within her body.
Blade-point down, gripping the handle, Lin Chichi looked up at the ard n in black encircling her.
The solid steel dagger in her hand twirled, displacing the rain curtain.
The black-clothed n encircling her seed to have completed aiming, their fingers on the triggers.
In that instant, the girl’s body suddenly tensed up, and she bolted sideways with an explosive step.
The black-clothed n, who had been aid and ready, were caught off guard by her sudden swift movent, instinctively pulling their triggers.
Bang, bang, bang—
The crisp sounds hit the wall, bringing up a slight haze of dust and water droplets.
Lin Chichi looked back briefly at the objects embedded in the wall.
They were not the bullets she had anticipated, but rather, they seed to be, so sort of, anesthetic darts?
Judging by their power to penetrate the wall, they resembled darts used for hunting elephants or for subduing lower-level Transcendents.
As her thoughts flashed by in an instant, Lin Chichi did not halt the movent of her hands; her figure had already rushed to the forefront of a brown-haired man in black.
The brown-haired man in black tried to aim his gun at her, but she quickly raised her dagger and slashed open his wrist.
Accompanying the blood mixing with the rain, the brown-haired man’s hand trembled, his firearm slipping from his grasp.
The girl imdiately caught the gun with her hand, taking a step forward, attempting to get past the car behind.
Just at that mont, a figure appeared almost instantaneously before her, swinging a fist and smashing it towards her forehead.
The girl imdiately withdrew her hands to block.
Bang—
Dissipated raindrops exploded into mist due to the violent collision, and the girl’s body flew backward, crashing against the wall.
“Cough…
D-class?”
Amid the scattered curtain of rain, Lin Chichi struggled to her feet, coughing as she looked towards the leader of the n in black, “You really think highly of .”
“You’re not bad yourself, young lady.”
The leader of the n in black had a square face and a tall build, with a crew-cut of pitch-black hair, his gaze icy as he stared at Lin Chichi.
“Can you tell , who wants to capture ?”
Lin Chichi lifted her head, gripping the stainless steel dagger in her hand, and asked with a smile.
Rain wetted her strands of hair, sticking to her delicate and lovely cheeks.
“No comnt.”
The leader of the n in black took a step forward, stretching out his hand to grab her.
The surrounding n in black took aim at her once again.
Watching the hand reaching out to her, Lin Chichi took a deep breath.
She had estimated her own strength; it was about F-class nearing E-class.
After practicing Martial Arts, there might have been so improvents, but to fight a D-class was definitely impossible, the gap was simply too large.
Rise, even, flow, tremble, retract…
Rise!
Recalling her teacher’s instruction, layers of muscles were mobilized in accordance with the girl’s thoughts.
Even!
The mobilized muscles quickly beca active, igniting.
Flow!
Enormous strength surged, and the girl’s figure flickered for a mont, instantly leaping to the side of the taxi.
“Hmm?”
The outstretched hand grabbed at nothing but a sweep of empty rain, “She got faster?”
And it was at that mont, the driver who had been surrounded in the vehicle pushed open the door, and instantly rushed into the rain curtain, bolting towards the road ahead.
“Focus on the target,”
The leader of the n in black glanced at his companions whose attention had been diverted, snorted coldly, and then as he saw the girl approaching the taxi driver, his brows furrowed and he quickly said, “The target’s strength exceeds expectations, permission to kill granted.”
Then he took another step forward, chasing after the girl.
The n in black around him changed their expressions, excitent surging instantly, they quickly discarded their original tranquilizer guns, swiftly pulling out new pistols from their pockets, aiming at the girl.
At this ti, the taxi driver also saw the girl running towards him, the corners of his mouth curling into a sowhat ferocious smile.
He didn’t have a gun in his hand but simply raised his fist, smashing it towards the girl’s face.
E-class, strength type.
Feeling the fist wind coming at her, the girl in the rain curtain took a slight breath.
She flashed her body, dodging the taxi driver’s fist, and at the sa ti, leaned her entire body towards the taxi driver, throwing an elbow smash.
Her hard elbow smashed directly into the taxi driver’s chest.
Accompanied by the slight sound of breaking bones, the taxi driver spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
But at this mont, Lin Chichi had no ti to care about that, because that oppressive Shadow had once again covered the raindrops behind her.
She imdiately turned around, swinging up her stainless steel dagger, stabbing backwards.
Pfft—
Her stainless-steel dagger was grabbed directly by the leader of the n in black behind her, and at the sa ti, the man’s other hand was already reaching for her neck.
She imdiately pulled the trigger on the tranquilizer gun she had snatched.
Bang bang bang—
With several gunshots, the tranquilizer darts struck the figure’s body, eliciting no reaction.
The leader of the n in black clothes gave a slight shake and shook off most of the tranquilizer needles.
“Girl, didn’t the Research Institute teach you that small caliber guns are useless against D-level Transcendents?”
His hand shot out suddenly, directly clamping onto the girl’s neck, then he pulled out a needle from the ones left on his body, “Girl, you’re quite pretty, what a pity.
If you cooperate obediently, you can die later.”
Because her neck was clamped, blood pooled in her cheeks, turning them red.
She gazed determinedly at the figure in front of her, feeling the surge of her muscles.
The basic moves, there were only five, rise, level, flow, shock, return.
Rise is to gather Qi, to mobilize all the muscles and strength of the body,
…
Shock is the exertion, allowing your strength to concentrate and burst out in a short amount of ti.
The voice of her master once again echoed in the girl’s ears.
Feeling the power leaping inside her body, she rembered the movents her senior sister ticulously broke down at the Martial Arts Hall.
The girl gazed at the figure before her.
Those muscles that were once active, at this mont, suddenly exploded.
Shock!
Her hand holding the dagger suddenly exerted strength, breaking free from the figure’s clamp, pulled out the dagger, and drew a bloody line across the palm of the figure’s hand.
Then she lifted the dagger and sliced toward the wrist of the hand that was clamping her neck.
The figure raised his injured hand intending to grab her wrist, but at that mont, she lifted her foot and kicked against the figure’s chest, breaking free from his control.
She tumbled in the rain and landed on the ground.
“Ha—Huff—”
The scattered curtain of rain traced over the girl’s swollen red cheeks, as she gasped for air, breathing in the fresh air.
“It seems, you really should die,”
The figure glanced at the blood on his palm, his expression cold as he gazed at the girl, “Today, not even a Divine Being can save you.”
While he spoke, a shadow holding a sharp knife slowly approached the girl from behind.
It was the taxi driver who the girl had just injured.
“Cough—”
Lin Chichi appeared oblivious as she coughed, struggling to stand up, facing the figure before her.
The gap was too large; she couldn’t win.
And in that instant, the taxi driver stood behind the girl, the corner of his mouth, still stained with blood, curved into a smirk, and with a burst of speed, he lunged forward, aiming a stab at the girl’s back heart area.
However, this hopeful strike ca to nothing, as what t him was the girl’s body turning around in an extrely short period of ti, along with her icy gaze.
The sharp dagger swiftly plunged into his neck, followed by a light twist.
Fresh blood splattered in the rain, staining the girl’s cheeks.
In that instant, as if spreading an invisible ripple throughout the world.
The girl paused briefly, raising her head to look at the dreary sky.
The rain trickled down from the Firmant, and above that endless expanse, as if an eye was quietly gazing down on this place.
The dying taxi driver didn’t even get a chance to struggle before his body rapidly turned to dust and vanished.
An invisible force erged within the girl’s body.
She turned her head and looked toward the leader of the n in black not far away.
“What did you do?”
The leader of the n in black, with a trace of shock, watched the disappearing taxi driver, and asked with furrowed brows.
“Want to know?”
The girl looked at the leader of the n in black, twirling her dagger in hand.
The fresh red blood spattered on her delicate and cute cheeks, on those rosy and translucent lips, like blood plum blossoms adorning the snow.
It added a touch of enchantnt to her innocent and lovely beauty.
“Fire,”
The leader of the n in black stepped back half a step, glanced at his subordinates, “Kill her.”
The fierce sound of gunshots once again rang out in the rain, but this ti, they were not tranquilizer shots, but bullets with roaring flas.
The bullets crossed the rain curtain, gliding under the dim sky.
But the girl holding the sharp knife had already left her original spot.
Scarlet flowers blood in the air, and one by one, the silhouettes of the dead vanished amidst the curtain of rain.
In the end, Lin Chichi once again stood before the leader of the n in black, with everything around them cleared, leaving just the two standing in the rain.
“Who exactly sent you?”
Lin Chichi looked at him and asked calmly.
“Do you think I would actually tell you?”
The leader of the n in black gazed at the girl before him.
“Don’t assu that you can defeat with these tricks and deceptions.”
Without hesitation, he threw a punch.
The girl tilted her head slightly, easily dodging the man in black’s fist.
“How is this possible?”
The eyes of the man in black widened in shock.
“What exactly did you do?”
The girl glanced at him calmly and spoke, “I don’t know if you’ve heard an old saying from Central Earth, ‘Three feet above one’s head, there is a Divine Being.'”
With that, she plunged the dagger in her hand directly into the man in black’s chest, gently twisting it.
Boom—
A loud thunderclap tore through the Firmant.
The man in black’s body stiffened, as if he wanted to struggle, but in the end, his body and the last remnants of his life force dissolved into scattered dust.
The pitter-pattering rain continued to pour down.
The girl, feeling new strength surging within her, stood amidst the torrential rain and looked down at her fine steel dagger, which was now slightly bent.
She tucked the dagger back into her clothing, then paused slightly and pulled a grass-woven amulet out of her coat pocket.
She held the amulet between her fingers, carefully gazing at the vague silhouette within, then she lifted her head to look at the rain-filled sky.
She placed the soft grass-woven amulet over her chest.
Until now, she still didn’t know the proper way to pray, but she hoped to convey her gratitude to that Great Being.
After a brief pause, she secured the amulet once again and walked back to the rideshare car that she had summoned, its door already open.
Her phone still lay on the back seat, its screen flickering.
A call was coming through, with the contact labeled ‘Sister Yan Yue,’ and on top of this incoming call display were many missed call notifications.
The girl picked up the phone and, while connecting the call, headed towards the sedan blocking the way.
“Hello, Sister Yan Yue?
What’s up?”
“Chichi, what happened to you?
Why didn’t you answer your phone?
Did sothing happen just now?”
Yan Yue’s voice ca through the phone, slightly anxious.
“Yeah, ran into a bit of trouble.”
Lin Chichi glanced at the blood splatter on her hand, opened the sedan door, and leaned into the car, checking the interior.
“Sister Yan Yue, you sound off.
Is sothing going on?”
Quickly, she spotted a folder beneath the windshield.
She picked up the folder and opened it.
“I’m afraid there’s an urgent situation I need to tell you about.”
A pause ca from the other end of the line, “Did you encounter any danger over there?”
“Sister Yan Yue, is this situation really urgent?”
Lin Chichi stared at the contents of the folder, paused briefly, and asked rapidly.
“Huh?”
Yan Yue was taken aback.
“What do you an?”
Lin Chichi looked down at the docunts in her hand, which contained only a form with a note at the top that read,
[Capture alive if possible]
And beneath it lay lines of information.
Lin Chichi quickly found her own information, but her gaze was drawn to the details of a family of tourists.
It marked their current address — Room 503 at the Big Beach Express Hotel.
Holding the docunts, she turned and dashed towards the last taxi, slamd the door shut, and ignited the engine.
She put the phone on the passenger seat and quickly spoke, “Sister Yan Yue, I’ll send you so docunts later.
Give Fifteen Minutes — I’m afraid this isn’t over yet.”
The old taxi splashed through a spray of water as it spun around and then accelerated into the rain curtain.
