But before he stepped outside, he checked the ti he had left to live.

...

In the bustling Arcane Village marketplace, Daniel handed four copper coins to the wagoner, climbed down from the wagon, and walked purposefully toward the dicine stall.

"Excuse , sir," he said with a neutral expression.

The man greeted him warmly. "How can I help you, young man?"

Daniel explained that he was looking for a dicine, potion, or any herbal recipe that could help him manage pain.

The man’s eyes flicked to the colorful vials on the shelves before he drew a thick, worn book from a wooden drawer, and began flipping through it like a dictionary.

A few minutes later, the man closed the book and looked at Daniel with a smile. "There’s no dicine for pain in here, but I’m sure a healer could help you with your... condition."

Daniel nodded softly. "Thank you for the information, Sir."

He stepped out of the shop and made his way toward the makeshift chicken stall by the roadside. The vendor was selling chicken.

As Daniel examined the at, his gaze drifted to the already severed chicken, laid out on a rough wooden plank.

"Wait, what’s that?" Daniel asked, pointing.

The at vendor followed his gesture. "It’s a black chicken, sir."

"Black... chicken?" said Daniel, his brow furrowed.

The at vendor nodded. "Tell , which one would you like. The normal one or the black one."

The vendor added that the regular chicken was eleven coppers a kilo, while the black one cost eighteen.

Daniel paused, his eyes lingering over the at as he considered his options.

"How about, you pack half of the normal one and half of the black one," he said, extending his hand.

’Hm! That’s strange,’ the vendor thought but nodded. "Alright, no problem."

*Chop-Chop-Chop*

The vendor asured the chicken and began chopping it into pieces, each cut precise and deliberate, while Daniel watched intently.

anwhile, soone approached him from behind.

"Is that you, Daniel?" the person asked.

Daniel turned and saw Rad, his classmate.

"Long ti no see, Daniel," Rad said warmly.

They exchanged stories about their lives, and as the conversation deepened, Daniel learned that Elira was no longer teaching them.

She had been replaced by a new shaman.

"But... what happened to Lady Elira?" Daniel asked, his brow furrowed in puzzlent.

Rad shook his head, shrugging. "I don’t know man, it’s just like she disappeared without us telling why."

...

Daniel made his way ho, his footsteps calm and asured. Around him, people bustled past with wagons, and vendors called out from their makeshift stalls, offering fresh vegetables to anyone who would listen.

’What is going on in this village?’ he thought, walking in silence. ’Ugh... why am I even thinking about this? First, I have to et Lady Gavina in the infirmary."

*Creak-Clang*

Daniel opened the iron gate and stepped inside. His eyes imdiately drifted to the kitchen on the left-side. No smoke rose from the hearth, and Marnie was nowhere in sight.

’Maybe she’s inside,’ he wondered, moving toward the main door.

*Knock-Knock-Knock*

Footsteps echoed from inside, growing closer to the door. When it swung open, Marnie appeared. The instant her eyes t his, she pulled him into a warm, motherly hug, holding on without hesitation.

Daniel buried his face against her huge breasts for a brief mont before she gently pulled away.

"What a surprise son, you’re back!" she said, her voice bright with happiness.

"I’m back mom, and I bought so at as well," he said, glancing at her outfit. "but... You look absolutely amazing in this outfit"

Marnie wore a cream-colored garb, layered with a green surcoat adorned with cream buttons. Her hair fell in silky waves, swaying softly as if freshly washed.

"Aw... thanks son. But why are you standing there? co inside," she said warmly. "Can you drop the at in the kitchen? I’ve to check your father’s health."

Daniel’s right eyebrow arched sharply, his expression stiffening. "What? What happened to him?"

They stepped into the room together. Marnie lifted the damp white cloth from Darryl’s forehead and dipped it back into a pot filled with lukewarm water.

Daniel’s gaze shifted to his father’s right leg, the flesh there tinged with a faint red-purplish hue.

"What happened to him, Mom?" he asked, his expression filled with concern.

Marnie quietly explained what had happened the previous day. A venomous snake had bitten his father in the fields, and the other farrs had rushed him to the infirmary in a panic.

Luckily, he was now out of danger, but he would need a few days of bed rest and careful attention.

"Hmm... I see," he murmured. "Status."

’Father will be fine in a few days,’ he thought, his gaze lowering to his feet. ’Wait... Lady Gavina.’

"Okay, Mom, I’m going out for a stroll," he said, turning toward the door.

"Okay, son... Co ho soon," she replied warmly.

Daniel quickly went to his room, tossed his clothes into the wardrobe, left the at in the kitchen, and stepped out through the gate.

He walked northward, hoping Gavina could help him. Strangers brushed past him as he moved deeper into the residential quarter, where the infirmary was located.

As he approached, he saw a line of ten people waiting outside the infirmary. Daniel joined the queue and waited patiently.

The infirmary was a cented, triangular-shaped building with a sloped roof and a narrow chimney. A heavy wooden door guarded the entrance, where a man stood watch, and above it hung a silver-lettered signboard bearing the word INFIRMARY.

The place appeared spotless, as if it were cleaned daily.

...

One after another, people went in and out. Soon, it was Daniel’s turn, and he stepped inside calmly.

A woman in a white robe sat behind a sturdy wooden desk fitted with drawers, writing steadily on a sheet of parchnt with a quill.

Behind her were two doors and a shelves lined with vials and glass of jars filled with dicines.

The one on the left led to a washroom, a small signboard hanging upon it, while the one on the right opened into the treatnt room, marked by its own wooden sign.

Daniel took a seat in the chair opposite her, waiting quietly.

"How can I help you, young man?" she asked in a soft voice.

"Are you Lady Gavina?" Daniel replied in a neutral tone.

She shook her head gently. "No, I am the attendant. What brings you here?"

"It’s personal. That’s why I want to et Lady Gavina," he said in a steady tone.

She stopped writing and looked him in the eyes. "I can’t let you see her unless you show so serious cut, bruise, or injuries."

"No... no, it’s not like that, I want a dicine which is... effective in enduring pain..." he said, his voice lowering with hesitation.

"Oh... then you should’ve said so," she replied, rising to her feet before turning toward the shelves.

She pulled down a jar from the shelf, took out a finger-sized ball, almost like a piece of candy, and returned to the desk, wrapping it in a sheet of paper.

"Here. That will be ten coppers," she said, extending her hand.

Daniel received it and glanced down at the small lump in his palm. It looked suspiciously like a goat’s droppings.

"But what is it?" Daniel asked.

"It’s what you asked for, a dicine for pain during periods, right?" she said evenly.

Daniel placed a hand on his forehead and closed his eyes for a mont. "Not for periods. I want it for myself."

She tilted her head in confusion and murmured, "What? Since when do males have periods? Huh... strange. So strange."

’What is wrong with this woman? I just need a mont with Lady Gavina,’ he thought, his eyes fixed on her.

"Status," he whispered under his breath.
