The Godshine City was one of the biggest cities of Corelhelm Kingdom, spanning over a hundred kilotres. The reason for it being so big was that two Gold-Rank Clans were situated in the city.
On the Eastern front was the famous Sinclair Clan, controlling a major part of Godshine City.
On the Western front was the renowned Ashborns, a clan famous for their infamous Fire Mages.
Max had done most of his business on the eastern front, knowing that the Sinclair Clan had superiority over there, but it was also because he didn’t want to co into contact with the Ashborns.
Sadly, fate had other plans as it pushed the plot forward and he had no other choice but to go to the Ashborn Clan.
Of course, he couldn’t tell the driver that, so he chose a location close to the Ashborn Clan—the Churchill Foundation.
The driver proved to be a master at his work as he weaved his car through the dense traffic, using the best routes to send Max to his destination.
Still, by the ti he reached his destination, it was already dark outside, with a bright moon shining in the sky.
The driver pressed on the brakes, stopping the car before a towering, closed building, and said, "The area doesn’t seem safe. Are you sure you want to drop here?"
"Yes, don’t worry about it," Max said hurriedly.
"Alright! Good luck in whatever you’re doing."
Saying that, the driver drove away, leaving Max all alone on the streets. The Churchill Foundation had closed itself, and the sa was true for the shops and facilities around it.
There were no signs of humans, as if they had all deserted the city. The eerie silence confird Max’s suspicions, making him curse Kafka.
[Hey! I didn’t do anything! I just added things here and there, sothing you wanted to add anyway. Besides, you changed the plot yourself so don’t bla !]
’I know! But it’s better to bla soone else. It helps in keeping a calm mind,’ Max replied, as he looked into the distance and ran adjacent to the Churchill Foundation.
The streets were empty, as were the alleys and parks too, so he didn’t find any obstacles and advanced at his full speed.
In a matter of minutes, he exited the residential district and reached the vicinity of the Ashborn Manor. As one of the top clans of the Kingdom, its main keep was located in a huge area.
Not so surprisingly, there weren’t any guards, as there should have been at the entrance gate.
The situation was unnerving, and Max knew the reason for it. He wanted to run away from there, actually, but the consequences would be too much, so he had steeled his heart and co to eradicate a future problem.
’Today, the whole Ashborn Clan will be massacred by the Royal Clan,’ Max thought, rembering the plot and details about it.
He didn’t want to miss any details he could use in this situation, as every step he took towards the Main Keep ant walking towards his doom.
Nurous battles between Gold-Rank Hunters and a single terrible battle between two Platinum-Rank Hunters were taking place sowhere deep in the Main Keep, only hidden by powerful barriers.
If he was caught up in the aftermath, he would be beyond dead.
As for why he was still there, it was because he wanted to resolve a major problem when it was still small. Otherwise, once he let it grow, he would have to suffer consequences.
Eighteen years ago, a powerful man had left a young child in the Ashborn Clan, and the Patriarch Ashborn had adopted her. That powerful man also kept an eye on them.
However, one day he vanished after giving Stormcaller Spear, a Peak-Diamond Rank, to the patriarch. It was to protect that adopted child.
Unfortunately, his two brothers found out about the Spear and conspired to take it from him. However, he was too powerful, so they resorted to poisoning him, and the poison gradually killed the Patriarch.
The Second Brother beca the Patriarch, and, out of worry that the Third Brother would spread the information about the Spear being in his possession, he also tried to kill him.
The Third Brother survived and reported everything to the Corelhelm Royal Clan, who ultimately decided that the Stormcaller Spear was rightfully theirs and made plans to take it away from the Ashborn Clan.
But they didn’t want to fight head-on because even the King feared that Spear. Even if the Second Brother couldn’t use its true power, it was still more than enough to kill everyone.
So, they planned a sneak attack on the Ashborn Clan at night and slaughtered every single one of them. They killed the Second Brother before he could use the Spear and even killed the Third Brother to keep the information hidden.
However, there was a single survivor from this inhumane massacre. That young child the old Patriarch had adopted. She was able to escape, though she was on the verge of dying.
And she would have died if she wasn’t saved by the person who would later take her as her disciple. Then, she would grow stronger under her guidance and beco one of the strongest humans alive.
After all, her master was practically the strongest being in existence, sitting atop all the ranks, past the known peak of the world.
As for why Max ca here, it was because of that adopted girl nad Aurora Ashborn. In the novel, she had sworn to erase all Corelhelm from the face of the world because of what they did to her clan.
That included Max as well.
If he let the plot continue as it was, he would have a terrible enemy coming for him.
While he was sure he could survive and even outmatch her, Aurora was better as an ally than as an enemy.
[And you liked her?]
’Haha! She was my favourite character. I always looked forward to writing her Chapters,’ Max chuckled softly and replied.
[True! Her Chapters were always fun. So, what are you going to do now?]
’A little diversion in the original plot!’
All of a sudden, Max ca to a halt as a silent, dark figure landed before him. Its eyes snapped at Max, filled with murder.
’Ah! We’re fucked!’
