It didn’t take much ti; Xerk was back within five minutes.
Though Forsyx noticed, for so reason, Xerk looked pale.
Forsyx couldn’t help but say, "Why does it look like you’ve seen a ghost?"
Xerk placed the quest detail paper on the table and just sat down, rubbing his forehead.
Forsyx grabbed the quest detail. The mont he read the first line, his mouth dropped.
He looked at the target’s na, then at his agent, and then back at the paper. This quest was really getting more and more interesting.
He read the na again and asked, "Xerk, who is Diana Trann?"
Xerk looked up at him and said in a low tone, "Sir Biggy, Princess Diana is the youngest daughter of Lord Trann."
Forsyx raised an eyebrow in interest. He couldn’t believe that his first task was already related to one of the top seven families.
Though the big question was who the hell was behind this task, and what was even their intention? There were just multiple things about this task that triggered danger bells inside his head.
The first thing that weirded him out was that this wasn’t a task that should be available to a noob, but that golden dagger ant it was a legit task.
Forsyx just closed his eyes and began to think about all the possibilities in his head.
The first thing that ca to mind was that it might be so self-sabotage bait quest.
There’s a possibility that Diana herself issued this task, likely to capture the noob who took it, then use it as a political tool.
If that was true, then the House of Trann was about to make so big moves in the city.
He couldn’t deny the possibility that soone else had issued the task. The main suspect would be another of the top families.
But them allowing a noob to take this quest showed that they were never after the information itself.
Yeah, those guys wouldn’t need to issue such a task through the Prohibited Hall.
Another thing ca to mind that this might be one of those sick gas noble kids played.
There were many weird things nobles did in the ga. It could be one of those twisted setups where both the quest giver and Diana were aware of the bait.
They issued this quest just to trap new players, since the chance of an NPC taking this quest was very low.
He looked at the quest’s failure condition—it was just a one-week ban from the Prohibited Hall. That did make it feel like so kind of prank.
Now that he had picked this task, he’d already fallen into the trap.
At this mont, Xerk bowed to him. "I’m sorry, sir. It’s my failure. I never thought a beginner task would require sothing like this."
Forsyx just stared at Xerk and said nothing.
After a long pause, he waved his hand. "Doesn’t matter. Just tell more about Diana. And do you have any idea who could be the quest giver?"
Xerk just froze there with his mouth wide open. "What?! Don’t tell , sir, you’re thinking about completing the quest? No, sir, it’s too risky. There’s a high possibility you’ll get caught and face imprisonnt."
Forsyx tapped on the table, a bit pissed. If there was one thing he couldn’t afford, it was wasting ti.
The failure condition would delay him too much.
Also, this task might be a sick prank or trap, but it did provide the big opportunity he had been looking for.
No matter who was behind it or whatever their intention was, he was going to blow their minds. The na Biggy had to be etched in their minds forever.
He looked into Xerk’s eyes and said, "I’ll be the one to decide what I should do with the quest. You just have to answer . You can do at least that much, right?"
As he said those words, Xerk just stared at him, then nodded. "Okay, sir."
"Good. Now, tell about Diana. What else do you know about her? Do you have any idea who could be behind this task?"
Xerk looked down at the table for a mont and shook his head. "Sir, people like Miss Diana stay far away from the slums. As for the task, there’s a high possibility that one of the seven families issued it."
Forsyx mumbled, "Seven families, not six."
Xerk just nodded his head.
’Well, at least the guy is smart. Looks like both of us are on the sa page here, Forsyx thought to himself.
He read through the quest report.
At the bottom, there was a ti limit of 10 days for task submission.
That was another thing that irked him. Soone like Diana wouldn’t co out of the city that often.
He asked Xerk, "Okay, forget about Diana. What about her routine? Anything interesting? I an, does she co out of the core region regularly?"
Xerk rubbed his forehead for a mont, then looked up. "Sir Biggy, there’s a recent rumor that Miss Diana is getting involved in slave fighting."
Forsyx nodded.
Well, that wasn’t surprising. Multiple nobles liked doing that in his last life.
So were even so powerful that they made players their pet slaves.
He tapped the table. "Wait, for slave fighting, she must have co here to buy so slaves, right?"
Xerk shook his head. "Sir, usually the House of Trann buys slaves in bulk. For now, no one has spotted her here. But sir, if you give just one day, I’ll dig up all the information about recent slave purchases related to the House of Trann."
Forsyx nodded. "Yeah, do that. Also, if possible, just get the ti she left the core region. You don’t have to follow her. Just get the timing. I’ll do the rest."
Xerk nodded his head. "Sir, if it’s that much, then sure. I’ll send a few guys to keep an eye on all the gates leading to the core region."
Forsyx stood up. "Well, that would do. Should I co to the Prohibited Hall to receive all this information?"
Xerk nodded his head. "During the day, you can et here. Once the hall closes, you can also co to the tavern anyti you want. Once again, sir, I’m sorry for assigning you such a task."
Forsyx just smiled at him. "Oh, don’t worry. I understand just how sorry you are. All I want to say is, don’t take for a fool. I’ll entertain you as long as it’s amusing."
With that, Forsyx walked out with a wide smile on his face, hidden behind his mask.
From the start, he had realized that Xerk had deliberately chosen the third task.
After all, the disparity between the third and fourth tasks was too big.
But even he hadn’t expected the guy to pick such a ssy task for him. Well, it didn’t matter. The people he was targeting were difficult, but the quest itself was relatively simple.
Forsyx didn’t think much for now, as he would decide after getting so information about Diana.
If Xerk was testing him, then it was the sa for him.
After all, based on what Xerk revealed tomorrow, Forsyx would decide whether this agent was just a stepping stone or soone worth building a relationship around.
Forsyx didn’t bother to explore much of the underground market anymore and just walked back to a random alley.
He took off his mask and placed it into his inventory, mumbling, "Shift to human."
The next mont, he sensed the tattoo mark on his arm flash, and the jacket and leaf frog both disappeared as his height began to increase.
In the next second, he was back in his human form, with all his clothes intact.
Now that he had already dealt with the guild and even taken on his first illegal quest, the only thing left for him was to increase his strength.
He understood that the power level in a Tier 1 city was much higher than in the beginner village.
The biggest reason for that was that most common-class players easily gained the second set of their class skills.
To compete against them, he needed to have so strong skills.
He could work on creating so super templates—it’s just that he had to wait for so ti to let the goblins populate inside his lab space.
The other option he had was to get so powerful skill tokens, but the big problem with that was the class limitation.
Inside Apex Ascension, a player could only use the skill tokens that suited their class, or neutral skill tokens like the Master Butcher token he had received.
Not only that, but players also had a limit on the number of skill tokens they could use.
Usually, players from common classes could use more skill tokens, though on the flip side, there were unique classes that allowed the skills from tokens to evolve.
Each class had its own limits, and the only way to know about these limits was by reaching them.
The good thing was that he already knew his skill token limit was 6.
The sa he would get from each of his super templates.
The big problem, though, was that his Template Wielder class was a weird combination of shapeshifting and monster taming, such that he couldn’t fully use either category of skill tokens.
Though the one saving grace was that there was no such limit when creating a skill by yourself, and that’s where his knowledge from his past life would shine.
It was ti to start getting so technical skills.
