The mont Rivas gave the signal to start, he vanished. Halt teleported him straight to the comntary booth, the perfect contrast to his dramatic entrance right at the center of the arena earlier.
With that, the giant clan houses started moving.
"You guys! Get down here and fight like real warriors, ow!"
The Fang Tech Squad struck first. The beastkin-dwarf alliance launched its massive right fist straight at Familia which was still hovering high above, its action packed with force.
For this battle, the beastkin stacked body enhancent magic on top of their insane physical stats, and the dwarven engineers cranked that force through pulleys and levers, multiplying it over and over. That's how they could launch a fist attack powerful enough to shatter boulders.
However, that pumped up blow never even touched Familia.
The powered fist slamd into sothing invisible with a dull thud before drooping down. The Fang Tech Squad froze. Never in their wildest dream did they expect that their attack had absolutely no effect on the other party.
"N-No way, is this for real, ow…”
Layers of magic barriers—reinforced by the combined mana of Halt, Sitri, and Akari, aka three of the strongest beings on the planet, coated the Familia’s clan house.
"Seems like they’re protected by those barriers, huh. Looks like we need to strip those first.”
The human clan’s representative, the Magic Knights, raised their sword, and crackling lightning coiled and crawled along its length.
"Heh, ti for our Sky Cannon to shine, hm."
It was none other than the steam-powered engine Gearlot. A massive cannon barrel extended from its right shoulder.
"Behold the mighty Hiken (Hidden Blade), able to slash even the dragons flying above.”
Oniwaban crossed the twin blades of its four-ard samurai clan house, both charged with hyper dense mana, in front of its chest.
This was a battle royale, so they were supposed to be enemies right now. However, they decided to have a temporary truce and gang up on a common target - the Familia.
Whoever survived on the arena floor at the end would win. If they started swinging at each other right now, Familia, floating safely above the chaos, would take way less damage. They had to take out the flying fortress first.
Still, it wasn’t as if Halt hadn't seen this coming.
"Pierce through—ARC THUNDER!!"
"SKY CANNON... FIRE!!!"
"SOARING HEAVENREND!!!"
Lightning erupted from the Magic Knights' greatsword. A blast powerful enough to shatter a castle gate roared from Gearlot's cannon. Twin cutting waves slashed out from the Oniwaban's katanas.
Each attack was strong enough to wipe out an entire horde of A-rank monsters.
All three struck Familia at almost the sa instant. A massive explosion blood in the sky.
The smoke cleared and –
"Wha… what…"
"No way…"
"Not a scratch? Seriously? After ALL THAT?"
Familia was still there, floating serenely, completely unhard.
The crowd lost it when they saw the clan house erge without a single damage to it despite those massive attacks.
anwhile, inside Familia –
"Hmm. Master, Sitri and Akari went all out with this barrier, so of course it’s formidable, but this is a bit dull, no?"
Youko pouted, clearly dissatisfied. She wasn't the only one.
"Yeah, honestly, at this rate, we'd win just by floating here. Hey, this is the Ultimate Clan Battle, you know. Doesn’t that feel kinda cheap?"
"I'm with Ryuushin and Youko. I actually wanna fight."
Ryuushin and Luke seed discontented.
“Yeah, figured so of you would say that. So I built four [Giant Slayer Golems] exactly for this situation. You'll have to go down to the arena floor, and that would be way more dangerous than being up here, though. Anyone volunteering? I made the controls pretty simple and easy."
“!!”
"Then allow this concubine to accompany Youko.”
"Youko and Kikyou, you're on Unit 3. I picked out sothing that suits you both perfectly."
Halt's smirk widened. He loaded this flying clan house with four pilotable giant golems, but not a single one of them was built the sa.
"I'm obviously going.”
"Ryuushin-sama, I will accompany you."
"Ryuushin and Hinata, Unit 1. Hinata, have Luna cast so anti-motion sickness support magic before you board."
“Luke, you wanna go too, right?”
“Ah, y-yeah.”
"Then I'll go with you."
"Luke and Lielle, Unit 2. It’s the standard humanoid type, so it handles a little less stable than the others, so watch your footing."
"Halt-Nii! I wanna fight too!"
"Then I will accompany Akari-sama. Halt-sama can maintain the barrier on your own, after all."
"Yeah, I got it. Take care of Akari for , Sitri."
All this conversation happened while, outside, the other clans kept hamring Familia with everything they had. The central control room didn't even feel a tremor. That's how solid the barrier was.
If Familia wanted, they could literally just float there and coast to victory.
However, it would be boring.
Halt wanted to prove they weren't just a wall that could block all their attacks; they had serious offensive power too. And so, the strongest sage made the call to send his comrades down.
"Alright, everyone. Do your best!"
The mont Halt confird Youko and the others had boarded their golems, he worked the control panel in the central command room. Four massive figures launched from the flying Clan House and descended toward the arena floor.
