"Jin Ao, you go ahead, I’m a bit tired and want to return to my room to rest," Bai Yan said.
Bai Yan suddenly ntioned feeling seasick, and Jin Ao was about to go to the first floor to get her so seasickness dicine. Bai Yan then suggested following him along; it would be a good chance to get so fresh air.
But just as she reached the corner, she changed her mind.
"Then let take you back first," Jin Ao said with concern.
"It’s not far, I can go back myself," Bai Yan waved her hand dismissively.
Still, Jin Ao watched her until she reached her door. Only after Bai Yan waved to signal that she was fine did he feel reassured enough to head towards the elevator.
Bai Yan removed her hand from the fingerprint scanner on the door handle but didn’t enter the room. Instead, she turned and went in the opposite direction of Jin Ao.
It was early dawn, with few people in the corridors. Bai Yan avoided the sparse crowd and made her way to the outdoor staircase leading to the sixth floor.
Leaning against the railing, letting the cold night wind brush past her, her gaze lingered on the distant round moon. She curled her lips into a smile and spoke, "You’ve been following for so long, and still won’t reveal yourself?"
A tall man erged from the shadows. His handso and divine appearance was now steeped in cold malice: "By sticking to that Golden Flood Dragon, you might manage to live a few seconds longer."
"You’re Shi Xie, aren’t you?" Bai Yan chuckled softly and reached her hand out to him. "Your talent is impressive, your strength outstanding—why follow Xiao Jinsheng, that temperantal female? Why not consider following instead?"
System: [Host, the target’s emotional fluctuation increased by 10 points]
Bai Yan, surprised: [Looks like he doesn’t care much for Xiao Jinsheng. I only said a few words, and his emotions shifted so quickly?]
"Wishful thinking," Shi Xie sneered. Though he hadn’t moved, Bai Yan sensed an overwhelming coldness as her blood began to freeze within her veins.
System, in alarm: [Bad news! The target’s emotional fluctuation increased by 50 points—he wants to kill you!]
Bai Yan’s body was frozen stiff, her teeth gritted in fury: [What are you waiting for? Do you want dead? Hurry up and control him!]
System warned: [Under current circumstances, controlling him can only last one minute]
As the system’s voice faded, Shi Xie’s superpower dissipated, and the chilling sensation of coagulated blood began to subside from Bai Yan’s body.
Rigidly forcing her legs to straighten, she clenched her teeth and steadied herself. Extending a hand towards Shi Xie, whose hollow, puppet-like eyes moved chanically, she lured him with her words: "Shi Xie, it’s —Jinsheng."
"Jinsheng..." Shi Xie murmured, his voice bubbling with surprise. "Jinsheng?"
Hearing him utter Xiao Jinsheng’s na even under control, Bai Yan’s gaze turned sharp.
She continued beckoning him, mimicking Xiao Jinsheng’s tone, "Shi Xie, do you want to kiss ?"
Shi Xie did not reply but stepped forward, inching closer to her.
When only a ter remained between them, just as Bai Yan reached out to touch Shi Xie, sudden searing pain consud her body. A gush of blood poured from her mouth.
Looking down, Bai Yan saw a fist-sized hole blasted through her chest by a water jet. Her last fading shred of consciousness slipped away as her body collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
Shi Xie stepped back in disgust, his lips curled in a mocking smile: "Control ? Keep dreaming."
What kind of fool tries to deceive a rmaid with illusions—it was a first for him.
Shi Xie showed no rcy as he confird she was dead and then used his Water Elent Superpower to obliterate Bai Yan’s internal organs. A swirl of water spun her corpse into the sea.
After cleaning up the blood stains on the floor with water, Shi Xie returned with a satisfied smile.
The next morning, Xiao Jinsheng calculated the docking schedule of the cruise ship.
Departing from the Northern Domain, they would remain at sea for ten days to reach the Northern Territory.
It would then take another half-month of travel across the Northern Territory to get to Cloud Island.
The thought of ten days at sea, with Bai Yan living just beneath her floor, annoyed Xiao Jinsheng.
But this was assigned by the Terminal, and there was no way to petition for a room change.
"Female Master, try this," Shi Xie said with a smile, presenting Xiao Jinsheng with a plate of soft white dumplings.
"Snow Maidens?" Xiao Jinsheng was imdiately distracted, her tone cheerful. "You made these?"
"It’s my first attempt; I’m not sure if you’ll like them," Shi Xie replied bashfully with a grin.
"I just happened to be craving sothing small and sweet—thank you, Shi Xie!"
Delighted, Xiao Jinsheng reached out, but her wrist was gently pulled back.
At so point, Yu Yunxiao had walked behind her. He placed a pair of chopsticks in her hand and strode away with an aloof grunt before she could turn back to thank him.
Xiao Jinsheng picked out a white peach-flavored one. Her eyes widened in astonishnt after the first bite.
The fruit inside was refreshingly sweet; its cool texture provided relief in the sweltering June heat. Though slightly chilled, it wasn’t cold enough to discomfort her.
"Shi Xie, you’re an amazing chef!" Xiao Jinsheng praised generously.
Shi Xie’s lips curved into a faint smile as he said, "I have more good news."
"What good news?" Xiao Jinsheng asked after swallowing her bite.
Shi Xie leisurely extended a hand, brushing the sugar from the corner of her lips with his fingertip before announcing, "I killed Bai Yan."
Imdiately, silence fell over the group.
Li’s gaze fixed on Shi Xie: "You went out late last night just to kill Bai Yan?"
"Mm," Shi Xie nodded, then ekly looked at Xiao Jinsheng, who remained silent. "Female Master, I’m not bad... Please don’t hate ."
"I..." Xiao Jinsheng couldn’t even focus on the half-eaten Snow Maidens in hand. Furrowing her brow, she asked, "Are you sure you killed Bai Yan?"
"I’m sure," Shi Xie confird.
Bai Yan’s organs and blood vessels had been shattered by his Water Elent Superpower, but Shi Xie refrained from describing the gory details to Xiao Jinsheng. He rely added, "I’m also certain she’s dead."
"That easy to kill?" Xiao Jinsheng hesitated.
Shi Xie might wield Ten Stars Superpower, but Bai Yan was supposed to be the protagonist—with a cheat-like system at her side.
It shouldn’t have been so simple.
Shi Xie noticed Xiao Jinsheng’s lack of joy over Bai Yan’s death and drooped his head in disappointnt. In a pleading tone, he said, "Female Master, do you... not like ? I’m not bad."
"Shi Xie, I don’t dislike you," Xiao Jinsheng said, her anger rekindled at the thought of Bai Yan. "She had her system poison —if anything, I wish I could kill her myself! I’m just puzzled—did she really die that easily?"
"Shi Xie possesses Ten Stars Superpower. Killing soone with Six Stars Spiritual Power shouldn’t pose a challenge," even Li chid in, reassuring Xiao Jinsheng on Shi Xie’s behalf.
"If she’s really dead, let’s check on Jin Ao and the others to see if they’re still alive," Que Zelian suggested.
Su Ye nodded in agreent and got up to head downstairs. At that mont, a knock sounded at the door.
When the door opened, Bai Yan stood there, smiling while flanked by Xi Qu and Jin Ao.
"Jinsheng, are you feeling seasick?" Bai Yan called from the doorway, raising a bag in her hands:
"I felt a bit seasick myself. Jin Ao helped get so dicine and thought you might need so, so I brought so up."
Bai Yan’s sudden appearance left the group stunned, but the impact on Shi Xie was nothing short of devastating.
"No need," Xiao Jinsheng said coldly. With her signal, Su Ye swiftly shut the door.
Annoyed, Xi Qu and Jin Ao stood outside frustrated.
"Ungrateful! Bai Yan, you shouldn’t have been kind to her," Jin Ao grumbled.
"Let’s go," Xi Qu pulled Bai Yan by her arm, his expression steely. "You’re being considerate, but all she does is throw attitude. What, is she acting like we owe her?"
