Xiao Jinsheng let out a soft "Hmm" and nodded lightly.
She thought Huaiqing was hiding sothing from her.
But after reading his mind, she discovered—
Huaiqing was indeed keeping things from her, but it was all part of a sche!
Everything had been ticulously designed to pique her curiosity, luring her willingly into his "trap."
"Scheming man, liar." Yu Yunxiao bristled with anger.
Xiao Jinsheng rubbed the corner of her eyes, sobbing softly: "This is the last ti. I won’t ever let a man deceive again."
"So easy to fool. How about letting trick you once?" Mo Jiao asked with a sly smile.
Xiao Jinsheng gave him a speechless look, unwilling to dignify him with a response.
At a ti like this, he still had the audacity to rile her up!
"I’ve already said, she shouldn’t be allowed to talk to Huaiqing alone." Li ground his teeth in frustration.
"Last ti, they talked alone for three minutes and twelve seconds, and then she imdiately decided not to divorce him." Li continued his rant, hoping soone would side with him.
However, of the initial five Beast Husbands, three outright ignored him.
They couldn’t bring themselves to see eye to eye with him at all.
"He’s doing it on purpose. He’s fishing." Xiao Jinsheng tugged Que Zelian’s sleeve aggrievedly.
"Tugging him won’t help." Li grabbed her hand and placed it on himself: "If you co to , at least I can beat him up for you and help you vent your anger."
"Pretty good at hiding things." Que Zelian’s gaze toward Huaiqing turned colder.
"You guys are really blowing this out of proportion." Huaiqing chuckled, looking at everyone. "Do you all have to be this upset with ?"
As he spoke, he walked to the back of the sofa and reached out to pinch Xiao Jinsheng’s cheek: "Chen Yunji’s superpower is genuinely unique. Have you really not considered forming a Contractual Totem with him?"
"Are you crazy?" Li swiped Huaiqing’s hand away with a gust of palm wind and called out to Yu Yunxiao: "Check if there’s sothing wrong with his brain."
The competition among the n in the household was already intense enough as it was.
Now he wanted to add an outsider around Xiao Jinsheng.
"Your goal has already been achieved, hasn’t it?" Que Zelian asked in a deep tone, eyes narrowing.
Huaiqing smiled: "That’s a separate matter. Chen Yunji’s strength is undeniable."
"The Insect Clan is closing in, and how much longer will Mist West remain safe?" Huaiqing questioned the group. "Another person protecting her would ensure greater safety."
"Huaiqing!" Xiao Jinsheng stood up angrily, her voice rising: "I’m really upset this ti!"
"You’re being disrespectful to and also to Chen Yunji."
"I’m sorry, Xiaoxiao..." Huaiqing said hesitantly, avoiding eye contact with Xiao Jinsheng. "I was just too anxious."
But the truth was, they didn’t have much ti left as it was.
"I have my own strength now too," Xiao Jinsheng insisted. "I’m no longer the helpless person who needed protection everywhere when I first arrived on the Mist Continent."
"Chen Yunji cares for sincerely, but I can’t take advantage of his feelings."
"For the next twenty-four hours, I don’t want to talk to you!"
With that heated declaration, Xiao Jinsheng stord out of the Realm in anger to go find Caicai.
The remaining Beast Husbands hurried to follow her.
Huaiqing’s cold gaze fell on Que Zelian, the only one who remained seated on the sofa: "You’re not going after her?"
"You predicted that forming a Guardian Contract with her would expose you to her mind reading, so you manipulated her curiosity and preemptively signed the Unity Contract with her," Que Zelian remarked calmly, his reddish eyes directed toward Huaiqing. "All of this... nothing more than the lies you want her to believe are the truth, cloaked under your facade, right?"
"So, what exactly are you hiding from her?"
Que Zelian was unwavering: "Even after forming the Unity Contract and allowing her to read your mind, you still haven’t told her the truth."
"You’re far too fixated on getting her to form a contract with Chen Yunji."
Hearing this, Huaiqing chuckled faintly: "I could tell you, but you can’t keep secrets."
"If she learns these truths, it’ll only put her in grave danger," Huaiqing warned in a low voice. "And you’ll be read by her too."
"If I sign the Unity Contract, will you tell ?" Que Zelian asked.
"Not even then." Huaiqing replied. "The Unity Contract allows mutual mind reading."
As soone who had awakened the Bai Ze Bloodline, a knowledge-based superpower,
and prepared in advance, Huaiqing found it relatively easy to deceive Xiao Jinsheng when it ca to mind reading.
But for the others, that would be impossible.
"Co back when you’ve learned to outwit her mind reading, and then I’ll give you the answers you seek."
"I believe," Huaiqing gave him a aningful look, "if you were , you’d make the sa decision I did."
Huaiqing’s words left Que Zelian distracted and preoccupied.
anwhile, Xiao Jinsheng, now out of the Realm, was with Chen Yunji studying his Elental Superpower.
Since she’d left the Realm, Chen Yunji hadn’t ntioned forming a Contractual Totem again.
He pursed his lips and didn’t bring it up himself either.
Instead, he stood beside Xiao Jinsheng, doing his best to guide her whenever she struggled with questions about Elental Superpowers.
Chen Yunji: [Really not considering forming a Contractual Totem with ?]
Chen Yunji: [My superpower is quite useful.]
Xiao Jinsheng remained silent.
She wasn’t sure how she felt about Chen Yunji yet.
She knew how he felt about her.
But until she sorted out her own emotions, she wasn’t ready to respond.
And in this world, a female could have multiple simultaneous romances.
Human desires were insatiable.
She feared she’d grow accustod to such a lifestyle.
It wasn’t as though she could keep bringing ho every promising Beastman she ca across in the future.
That would be unfair to the seven Beast Husbands she started with.
Xiao Jinsheng admitted to herself that she had a "durian heart."
Yet, she refused to let the current seven Beast Husbands suffer heartbreak.
Of course, Huaiqing was the exception for the next twenty-four hours!
Que Zelian didn’t seek out Xiao Jinsheng after leaving the Realm, but instead looked for Caicai.
Caicai eyed him warily, shaking its head furiously: "Mind reading? I don’t know anything about mind reading! I have no idea what you’re talking about!"
"Stop pretending. With the Guardian Contract, Xiao Jinsheng can read our thoughts," Que Zelian stated flatly.
"No way, how could there possibly be such a contract?" Caicai retorted, shaking its head in denial.
"I know about the mind reading, and so does Xiao Jinsheng," Que Zelian explained.
This sudden clarification caused Caicai to relax instantly, letting out a big sigh of relief: "Why didn’t you say so earlier? I was so nervous!"
"So, why are you asking about this?" Caicai queried, puzzled.
"I wanted to know if you have any items that can block mind reading," Que Zelian inquired.
At this, Caicai imdiately flew off in a panic: "Nope! Don’t co to . I already know you’re up to no good."
"I’m not planning to fully block her from reading my mind, just certain keywords and information," Que Zelian clarified before smiling. "I want to give her a surprise gift. But if she can read my thoughts, the elent of surprise is ruined."
"If you have any tools that can do this, I hope you’d lend them to . Once the gift is delivered, I’ll return it."
"What kind of surprise?" Caicai’s curiosity piqued the mont "gift" and "Xiao Jinsheng" were ntioned.
Caicai quickly lowered its guard and eagerly rummaged through the System Space: "I do have a mind block specifically tailored for the Guardian Contract,"
"though it only filters out customized content. But it sounds like just what you need."
"Since it’s for a surprise gift, I’ll let you borrow it."
Caicai generously handed Que Zelian a small round orb-like artifact.
Because Xiao Jinsheng trusted Que Zelian deeply, Caicai had co to trust him as well.
"Thank you. I’ll also prepare a surprise gift for you. I hope you’ll like it." Que Zelian flashed a gentle smile as he accepted the artifact.
"Hehe, no need to be so polite. If you’re giving sothing, of course I’ll take it!" Caicai’s joy bubbled over.
Que Zelian said nothing but smiled faintly, then returned to the Realm with the artifact to confront Huaiqing.
"Spill it. I want to know whatever else you’re hiding," Que Zelian demanded bluntly as he faced Huaiqing.
