Chapter 947: Chapter 946: A Minor Accident

“Ming, I just want her to be happy, so I didn’t object. But I feel like I’m becoming invisible to Shu Pan very soon,” Gu Shaoting felt that he was almost losing his presence.

“Heh, you’ll get used to it,” He Ming chuckled.

As they chatted, Xia Xiaoqiao knocked and ca in, holding a stack of docunts that likely needed Gu Shaoting’s signature.

Gu Shaoting asked her to put them on the desk, and once she did, she left and closed the door behind her.

He Ming watched her depart with a thoughtful look.

“What’s up?” Gu Shaoting noticed him staring in the direction of Secretary Xia’s exit.

This kid wouldn’t be getting any other ideas while Xiaong is pregnant, would he?

He Ming snapped back to reality, “Does Shu Pan know you hired a delicate female secretary?”

“I don’t think so, I didn’t ntion it, and she hasn’t been to the Corporation for a long ti,” Gu Shaoting replied.

“You might want to consider getting a different secretary? Won can be pretty hard to deal with when they’re jealous,” He Ming felt that Secretary Xia could be trouble. He had t her once before where she seed quite sensible, but today, her attire felt a bit too much.

“She’s just an employee, don’t think too much. Besides, she does a good job. What reason do I have to fire her? Shu Pan is reasonable. She knows that aside from her, I have no interest in other won,” Gu Shaoting thought He Ming was overthinking. If he really did that, it would be like admitting guilt, the proverbial silver hidden poorly.

“Okay,” He Ming had said his piece. Whether Gu Shaoting listened was up to him; at least he had done his duty towards his own wife.

He did not dare tell Gu Shaoting that his own wife, Ye Xiaong, already knew about the young and beautiful secretary and, given Xiaong’s nature, Shu Pan probably knew too.

But that was just Shu Pan’s way; she wouldn’t bother unless there was solid proof to confront. So, for matters without even a shadow of evidence, she would let them be.

He Ming glanced at the ti and then at the docunts on Gu Shaoting’s desk. Smiling, he stood up, planning to return to his office to work on files. He had promised Xiaong to take her out for Italian pasta at noon, which she had been craving all day.

He Ming left, and Gu Shaoting sat back at his desk, preparing to review docunts.

….

Lu Lei felt a headache coming on. Right now, he was sitting in the back of a car, instructing the driver to take him to the kindergarten where Xin Xin was.

Today, he had prepared the files and planned to visit Gu Group, but then he got a call from the kindergarten teacher informing him that Xin Xin had gotten into trouble, fighting with other kids.

He was shocked—when had his daughter beco so bold as to fight with other children?

So, he asked his secretary to call Mr. Gu and delay their eting until the afternoon, then he hurried to the kindergarten.

In the teacher’s office, both kids involved in the fight were scratched up, but Lu Xinxin wasn’t crying. She stubbornly faced the other child, a little boy who was sobbing.

“Xin Xin, what happened? Why did you fight with your classmate?” Lu Lei wanted to understand the situation rather than jumping to conclusions. He squatted down to talk to his daughter.

“Daddy, he called a motherless wild child,” Lu Xinxin said, her eyes reddening.

“You could have told him you have a mother, that she’s just busy with work, now overseas. But you should never resort to hitting others, okay?” Lu Lei felt he had let his daughter down too much.
