Chapter 911: Chapter 909: Causing Trouble
Wen Chi wished he was just overthinking, considering he was already married, and loved Huanhuan deeply.
It was not strange for others to be unaware of his marriage, since n typically did not gossip much about celebrity affairs.
He initially thought he was only eting Gao Jie, but unexpectedly, Gao Jie had also invited other classmates.
Fortunately, he hadn’t brought Huanhuan along, or else things would have been hard to explain.
“Wen Chi, long ti no see.” Song Ying took her seat and noticed Wen Chi’s montary daze, so she initiated a greeting.
Wen Chi pressed his lips together and then nodded, “Long ti no see.”
His tone, however, was indifferent and his gaze sowhat distant.
Song Ying noticed his expression and suddenly felt awkward, sensing she was unwelco.
Seeing this, Gao Jie quickly smoothed things over, “It’s been a while since we’ve seen our Song beauty, right? I ran into her in the U.S. She’s now a coveted talent among top hospitals. She’s returned to work in our country, taking up a position in the neurosurgery departnt at the Central Hospital.”
While speaking, Gao Jie winked at Wen Chi, his aning clear without words.
Wen Chi felt a pang in his heart; this coincidence was too much. They would be colleagues now, destined to run into each other often. The thought made his scalp tingle.
Still, he responded politely, “Is that so? I also work at Central Hospital. What a coincidence.”
As Song Ying heard him speak, her heart leaped, and she excitedly said, “Yes, I took a long ti deciding, but I chose it because a friend told their neurology departnt was the best. I never imagined you’d be working there too, please take good care of in the future.”
Wen Chi could only nod, while the other classmates, seeing them talk so happily, couldn’t find a way to join their conversation. One short, plump classmate said, “Song Ying, don’t just talk to Wen Chi, we haven’t seen each other in so long, let’s all chat.”
The others joined in, “Yes, think about it, it’s been what, seven or eight years since we last t?”
Song Ying, clearly adept at socializing, picked up her teacup with both hands and said to everyone, “I’ll use tea in place of wine to apologize.”
After speaking, she smiled and took a sip of her tea.
Beauty is always easy to forgive, and seeing her act so, everyone collectively said, “It’s alright, just joking.”
Song Ying’s bright eyes sparkled with a smile as she sat down.
She sat upright, her back straight, and leaned slightly forward, listening attentively to everyone speaking.
Yet, she occasionally glanced at Wen Chi out of the corner of her eye.
As Wen Chi chatted with Gao Jie to his side, he could feel the burning gaze of soone nearby.
Blatantly, he felt sowhat helpless.
But he couldn’t stop others from thinking what they did.
Everyone chatted and laughed, and one by one, the other classmates continued to leave.
In the end, only the three of them remained.
Song Ying smiled and said, “Shall we move sowhere else and continue chatting?”
She actually wanted to spend more ti with Wen Chi. Back in college, she had admired him. Although Wen Chi seed frivolous on the surface, appearing to be a ladies’ man, he actually respected won greatly, and his charming eyes attracted many admirers.
Song Ying was one of them. Later, she and Wen Chi acted together in an English drama, and she was thrilled, benefiting from her proximity to him.
She continually sent signals of interest to Wen Chi, but it seed as though he was oblivious to them.
Eventually, heartbroken, she chose to study abroad while Wen Chi continued his master’s studies in a prestigious dostic university. Only then did she tuck away her feelings and leave for a foreign land.
But a while ago, she ran into Gao Jie, learned that Wen Chi was still single and working at the Central Hospital in their city. She was overjoyed, as she was about to return to work there herself, her professional status not allowing her to consider other hospitals.
