Zhou Shengting got ho around 11 PM. It was later than he realized, and he guessed that Bai Lan had probably gone to sleep.
But when he entered his bedroom, he found Bai Lan still propped up in bed reading.
He furrowed his brows slightly, then walked over and gently took the book from Bai Lan’s hands. “Why are you still awake so late?”
Bai Lan had noticed him coming in.

Hadn’t he said he was entertaining Chairman Chen tonight? Could it be he had brought a female companion?

“I’m not sleepy tonight, so I thought I’d read a bit,” Bai Lan said as she lay down.
She stopped looking at Zhou Shengting, then slowly closed her eyes. But the vague scent of that perfu seed to linger at the tip of her nose, making her feel nauseous and congested.
She had never liked such strong scents of perfu—the light scent she carried was usually just from her shower gel.
Before, Zhou Shengting had often said he liked her natural scent. Had he changed now?
