Gu Shaoting looked at Xia Xiaoqiao, who appeared very frightened, and after a mont of contemplation, he spoke, “If you truly feel unsafe here, I can help you find another place for you to temporarily reside. You can return here once everything settles down, alright?”

Gu Shaoting raised an eyebrow, “It’s no trouble. I’ll just make so arrangents. You just need to pack a few outfits you wear regularly.”
At that mont, Xia Xiaoqiao smiled, her eyes sparkling like stars, “Thank you, Mr. Gu. I don’t even know what to say to express my gratitude properly.”
“Don’t talk nonsense. You are in this situation because of the corporation, and I feel terrible about it. I will handle things with CEO Wang; you just take good care of yourself,” Gu Shaoting instructed as he looked at her.
Xia Xiaoqiao nodded, her heart brimming with sweetness.
“Then pack your belongings. I will make the arrangents and have a driver pick you up,” Gu Shaoting said before getting ready to leave.
“Mr. Gu, the al is ready; won’t you eat sothing before you go?” Xia Xiaoqiao asked, a hint of disappointnt in her voice.
“No, thanks. I’ve planned to dine with my wife, and it’s almost ti,” Gu Shaoting replied with a slight smile, explaining.
Xia Xiaoqiao’s face stiffened. Mr. Gu and his wife seed very affectionate towards each other. Seeing his commitnt to returning ho right after work painted him as a good husband.
She truly envied Mrs. Gu. To be married to Mr. Gu, a man of such stature, she did not have to worry about anything but to simply enjoy life. When would she ever have such a fate?
However, her determination quickly returned. She always believed that opportunities were created by one’s effort, and hard work could change fate.
She was fortunate through misfortune now, as her proximity to Mr. Gu had closed by another step. As the old saying goes, proximity may give one an advantage.
“I must go now. Make sure you lock the door and stay safe,” Gu Shaoting instructed before turning to leave.
“Yes, I know.” Xia Xiaoqiao watched reluctantly as Gu Shaoting left; his receding figure gradually blurring before finally disappearing from her sight.
Returning ho, she shut the door and sat down at the dining table, distractedly looking at the carefully prepared al that seed appetizing and fragrant, yet now she found herself without any appetite.
Whether a al is delightful depends also on the company one has while eating.
She absentmindedly picked up her chopsticks and began to eat without much interest.

With these thoughts, Xia Xiaoqiao felt happier, and the food started to taste better.
She quickly finished her al, tidied everything up, packed her baggage, and waited for Gu Shaoting’s driver to pick her up.
Just as Gu Shaoting had left Xia Xiaoqiao’s ho and she watched him go, especially with that adoring look in her eyes, all of it was observed by a figure lurking in the shadows.
