972: Xu Changge Spin-off: The World in Their Eyes (Their First Encounter) 972: Xu Changge Spin-off: The World in Their Eyes (Their First Encounter) When he was born, a white light devoured the moon, spanning across the sky.

The books say that such a scene is an auspicious on.

But Xu Changge, as a child, upon reading this description, personally deduced that the white light was either a spellcraft great formation or a manifestation of his father’s Dao Domain.

It seed that many people in this world did not wish for his birth.

When Xu Changge was still in swaddling clothes, the Pri Minister’s Mansion had not yet relocated to the inner city, and was situated among a group of nobles in the Imperial City, side by side.

To the left was the Wang Residence, and to the right, the Marquis of Wucheng’s Mansion.

Compared to these two centuries-old noble houses, the Pri Minister’s Mansion at that ti occupied rely tens of acres, like a child sandwiched between two strong n.

And Xu Changge was raised within this not-so-large mansion.

From the day he learned to walk, he could always hear the bustling shouts outside the courtyard walls.

Outside the east wing’s side gate of the Pri Minister’s Mansion was a small path along the river, three Zhang wide, with lush willows, where many children of the city’s dignitaries would gather to frolic and play after the closure of Jingxiang Academy.

The young Changge was curious about the sounds from outside.

But unfortunately, his mother said he couldn’t go outside, so he dismissed the thought.

Thus, after becoming sensible, he always stayed within the mansion.

Perhaps by nature, little Changge liked this quiet life, but he did enjoy spending ti with his mother.

His mother was a woman so beautiful she was beyond the description of words, well-read and gentle.

It was just a pity that both his mother and father were busy, and only after dinner at dusk could she spare an hour to teach him to read and write.

Later on, little Changge beca accustod to this life.

In his third year, his mother and father beca even busier, only managing to spend ti with him for one evening al per day.

Fortunately, by then, he had learned most of the characters and could find books in his father’s study to read by himself.

Moreover, by a stroke of chance, little Changge beca fascinated with the koi beneath the pavilion in the pond of the outer court.

When the koi wandered in the pond, Changge could see so faint lines.

From then on, what he did most was to sit by the pond, staring at the swimming koi in a daze.

The tiny figure would sit by the little pond all day long.

On his fourth birthday, Changge still spent it by the pond.

But in the evening, as he suddenly looked back, he found his mother had returned to the mansion at so point, standing silently behind him.

His mother bit her red lips, looking at him, with a kind of worry flashing in her elegant eyes.

Changge didn’t understand that worry, so he did not ask.

But after returning to the courtyard with his mother that day, two won would follow him every day, spinning around him all day with toys like rattles and bells.

At first, Xu Changge thought they were casting so sort of spellcraft on him.

However, after repeatedly checking his body for abnormalities with the thods recorded in the books from his father’s study, he confird in his mind one thing—

These were two fools.

But from the occasional words of the Xu Family’s servants and Protectors, it seed they thought he was the fool.

They said,

The Pri Minister and the Feng Family Patriarch had a child with a ntal disorder.

And these words seed to have spread outside the mansion.

For occasionally, passing the courtyard wall along the river by the east wing, Xu Changge could hear those children outside chaotically shouting, “The Xu Family’s fool, co out and play,” before running away with a bang.

This seed like mockery, but little Changge had no ripples in his heart, and continued to do his previous activities every day.

Until one day, little Changge saw that man in white robes.

It was a gloomy day.

Thick cumulonimbus clouds dwelled on the horizon, and the sound of thunder rumbled like a beast’s growl.

As Changge, like his usual days, sat by the pond watching the fish, a faint voice suddenly reached his ears:

“Do you co here daily just to watch their swimming trails?”

“…..”

Jolted back to his senses, Xu Changge suddenly spotted a pair of boots at the corner of his vision.

Looking up, he saw a man in white standing beside him.

His age was indeterminate, but the gaze from his eyes was annoying to Xu Changge in a way he had never felt before.

A sense of unreasonable annoyance.

Like mutual repulsion.

So little Changge didn’t respond to him, glancing once before continuing to watch the fish on his own.

The man in white did not continue to speak either, just quietly standing beside him, watching the randomly swimming koi in the pond with him.

One standing, one sitting, all day long.

Towards sunset, little Changge got up and went back to the mansion to eat on his own.

From beginning to end, he never looked at the man in white again.

After saying that first sentence, the man in white showed no intention of paying further attention to him.

The next day,

After the rain, the Xu Family’s estate was perated with the fresh scent of earth, and the tender green leaves were adorned with glistening dew.

When little Changge ca to the pond as usual, he found that the man in white was still standing there.

This made him subconsciously stop in his tracks, staring at the man with hesitation for a mont.

He subconsciously felt that the man must have stood there all night.

But as heavy as last night’s rain was, the man’s clothes were dry, so he must have arrived before Changge did.

With no interaction at all, Changge then sat down in his usual spot.

And then, another whole day of silence passed.

Following this was the third day, the fourth day, the fifth day…

Later, from his mother’s words, little Changge learned that the man in white was her brother, his uncle.
