Chapter 1132: Chapter 708: Victory and Defeat Decided

Based on the Mortal Transcendence cultivation level of both parties, this battle ended very quickly.

In the span of one cup of tea’s ti, it had reached its conclusion.

At the top of Sword Pavilion,

two figures quietly disappeared into the rainstorm.

The outco was decided; there was no need to keep watching.

The Sword Field lay in ruins, scattered and chaotic.

Xu Yuan half-knelt on the ground, his gaze lowered. Pools of rainwater reflected his pitch-black eyes, only to blur again as ripples stirred by the raindrops disrupted them.

Without the protection of Void Flash, the Karma Sword Domain coiled around him instantly shredded his ridians. From the perspective of the living, the complete severance of all 127 of his ridians was a critical injury beyond recovery.

The strike was undoubtedly ruthless.

So it’s true—if you can’t kill soone, just beat them into submission?

His ceremonial robes were utterly drenched by the rain. Xu Yuan silently griped to himself.

During those re dozen breaths of intense exchange, he entertained nurous possibilities, pondering whether his approach to countering the enemy had been flawed from the outset.

From start to finish, he hadn’t even used his Dao Domain.

You could say he hadn’t given it his all, but you could also say Xu Changge hadn’t allowed him the chance to do so.

The Life and Death Domain couldn’t manifest due to a lack of sufficient death energy from living beings, and even if the Life Domain were activated, its regenerative effects would be overwheld by the damage inflicted by the Karma Sword Domain.

Xu Yuan felt he shouldn’t have been reduced to this sorry state, but given neither side unleashed their killing moves, the current outco was already the optimal scenario.

Xu Changge was undeniably formidable—absurdly so.

At last, Xu Yuan understood the despair those other prodigies of their generation had felt when confronting Xu Changge.

Close combat couldn’t defeat him, spellcraft couldn’t touch him, and Karma Sword strikes were impossible to evade.

Even if he unleashed the full potential of his Life and Death Domain for a desperate battle, Xu Yuan believed there was still a chance, however slight, that he’d lose to Xu Changge.

Of course, even that chance was exceedingly small.

“Tap… Tap…”

Amid his musings,

the toe of a Cloud-Stepping Boot appeared beneath Xu Yuan’s downturned gaze.

The tip of the Phoenix Kite Sword lightly touched the edge of a puddle, sending ripples through its surface.

Xu Changge rolled up his sleeves and stared down at Xu Yuan for a mont before silently stretching out his hand, intent on grabbing his younger brother by the collar to haul him up.

In that instant, countless thoughts surged through Xu Yuan’s mind.

All of them converged upon a singular realization:

As expected, this elder brother had taken the bait…

Which ant that he had won.

With this epiphany, Xu Yuan slowly lifted his gaze.

“Boom—”

A deep rumble of thunder rolled through the heavens,

lightning illuminated the Sword Field, casting an eerie glint off his death-infused black eyes.

In the pitch-black rainstorm where the electric arcs faded,

Xu Changge halted his movents, a calm question spilling from his lips:

“You possess a second Dao Charm?”

“…”

Faced with his ever-snide elder brother, Xu Yuan didn’t answer. Instead, he abruptly seized Xu Changge’s wrist and shot a punch toward his face.

Xu Changge analyzed the situation in front of him.

His younger brother’s ridians should have already been completely destroyed, theoretically rendering him incapable of any movent. Even if he retained the capacity for self-healing via the Life Dao Charm, such regeneration would require ti.

What Dao Charm could it be?

As he pondered, Xu Changge tilted his head to evade Xu Yuan’s forceful punch. Yet, his long hair, swept by the punch’s force, ballooned outward into a circular void.

At the sa mont,

Xu Changge took a step back on the ball of his foot and swung his sword horizontally, aiming to sever the wrist gripping his arm.

Unable to react in ti, Xu Yuan’s hand was imdiately severed.

But before the severed hand could hit the ground, it dissolved into wisps of black smoke and reford seamlessly at the stump.

Seeing this,

Xu Changge imdiately understood why Xu Yuan was still able to move.

Taking another step back to open a one-zhang distance,

Xu Yuan stood from the ground, rubbing his wrist and fixing his brother with those eerie black eyes. With a laugh, he said:

“Xu Changge, wouldn’t it be easier if you just took that punch and stayed down? I won’t die, but that doesn’t an I can’t feel pain. The harder you hit, the worse I’ll beat you later.”

Xu Changge stood with his sword amidst the rain, ignoring his younger brother’s relentless chatter. Instead, he calmly asked:

“Life and Death Dual Dao Charm?”

“Indeed.”

Xu Yuan shrugged, explaining nonchalantly:

“In this state, even if my body is ground to powder, I can still regenerate. This is the law of the dead’s domain.”

Xu Changge exhaled softly:

“But you don’t seem able to use cultivation techniques at the mont.”

Xu Yuan didn’t bother hiding it and chuckled:

“The dead have no concept of ridians, and without opening a Dao Domain, this state can only persist for a limited ti.”

“A significant flaw.”

“Precisely. That’s why I typically reserve it to deflect instant-kill strikes.”

As they spoke,

Xu Changge noticed the black aura in his younger brother’s eyes beginning to dissipate.

Though unaware of its implications, he was certain it wasn’t good—and what followed quickly confird his guess.

Once the black aura in Xu Yuan’s eyes retreated, his gaze transford into a pair of fiendish blood-red pupils. Smiling, he said:

“Xu Changge, surely your Origin Qi has nearly run dry by now?”

After a brief pause, Xu Changge’s lips curved into a faint smile:

“In the final breath, you deactivated Void Flash, enduring the Karma Sword Domain’s effects in a reverse death state to conserve Origin Qi?”

Xu Yuan strolled casually around his older brother, his blood-red eyes carrying an air of mirth:

“Do you find that despicable?”

Xu Changge remained unmoving, alert to any sudden attack, replying softly:

“It’s my fault for failing to notice in ti; what does your ‘despicableness’ have to do with ?”

Watching Xu Changge raise the Phoenix Kite Sword, Xu Yuan playfully questioned:

“Even when you can’t sustain cultivation techniques, are you still planning to fight on? You’re well aware of how much cultivation techniques amplify a cultivator’s abilities.”

Xu Changge’s sword cut a chilly arc through the rain, his response deliberate and calm:

“Your remaining Origin Qi isn’t ample either. Will you expend it on spellcraft, or dare to match in swordsmanship?”

Xu Yuan shrugged straightforwardly, grinning:

“I’m a Qi Cultivator—why would I engage you, a Martial Artist, in close combat?”

Cultivation techniques enhance all aspects of combat.

Speed, reflexes, strength.

Yet Xu Yuan refused to be fooled.

He knew his elder brother’s mastery of sword techniques was unrivaled.

Even with the support of the Blood Essence teoring Art,

getting close ant guaranteed disaster—

Being turned into a pig’s head.

Xu Changge sighed slightly, offering a reminder:

“Then you’ll only have one chance left.”

By this point, both brothers were running on fus, their reserves nearly exhausted. Xu Yuan was faring slightly better but had little Origin Qi remaining—one spell was his limit.

As they spoke,

both their auras shifted dramatically.

Xu Changge stood as though carved from jade, his figure holding the sword seemingly lting into the curtain of rain, revealing not the slightest opening.

Xu Yuan’s aura surged violently, sending raindrops crashing upward in defiance of gravity.

The atmosphere grew so quiet that even the rain seed to fall silently.

Xu Changge lowered his stance, ready to use his physical body to withstand the last spell Xu Yuan would unleash—but then, out of nowhere, he saw Xu Yuan leisurely pull a blood-brown wooden talisman from his robe.

“When did I say I saved Origin Qi to beat you with spellcraft?”

As those words fell,

Origin Qi surged into the Blood Death Talisman,

and in an instant,

the bloody patterns etched onto the wooden surface lit up brilliantly, exploding into a sea of crimson aura in front of the stunned Xu Changge!

Xu Changge’s eye twitched, montarily relieved to find the spell’s power wasn’t overwhelming. But as he exhaled in partial relief, Xu Yuan pulled out a second talisman from his robes,

then a third,

a fourth,

and a fifth…

“…” Xu Changge.
