The saying goes: sharpen your blade just before battle, even if it doesn’t shine, it will still be bright.
On the second day at dawn, Ji Nuan having finished washing and eating breakfast, went behind the house to feed the little Moumou family, Giggle Beast, and Gagabeasts, before opening the courtyard door.
However, he was startled by the orderly queue outside, with Yao at the front.
Looking at Ji Nuan’s surprised expression, the sowhat embarrassed Yao scratched his head: "Shaman Ji Nuan, we... hehe, everyone was a little excited, so we had an early breakfast and ca over."
Ji Nuan nodded: "Co in one by one, Yao, you won’t be taking the test, you’ll directly assist ."
Upon hearing this, an overjoyed Yao grinned ear-to-ear, hurrying inside.
He helped organize the dicinal herbs and so other items for the examination.
"Bring in the first beast," instructs Ji Nuan.
Yao respectfully nods, rushes to the door and calls in an orc.
This is a deer clansman orc who, while not very well versed in creating dicinal powders and potions, is exceptionally gifted in morizing dicinal herbs. This surprises Ji Nuan, especially the fact that so herbs can be identified by use without his reminders.
Learning that he passed the assessnt, the Deer Clan orc was ecstatic, even transforming into beast form and bounding out.
Ji Nuan, amused, shook his head, "Next."
The assessnt lasted the entire day. Sixty-eight beasts were evaluated, but only twenty-six passed, mostly herbivorous orcs—surprisingly, as many as twenty.
Massaging his sore arms, Ji Nuan looks at Yao who’s tidying up: "Yao, from now on, you will work with . After each lesson, you will assess them. Understand?"
Yao’s eyes widened in surprise, brimming with excitent, "Rest assured, I will supervise them well, and I will also work very hard myself."
Ji Nuan smiled and patted the young orc’s shoulder, "I believe in you."
"Shaman Ji Nuan," ca the voice of Chief Ge Xing from outside the courtyard door.
Ji Nuan looked over to see the hulking Chief Ge Xing holding a basket covered with large leaves, "Haven’t eaten your supper yet? Aunt Naima made purple fruit rice and stir-fried at slices. She thought you hadn’t eaten yet and had bring it over."
Having said this, he looked over at Yao, who was on tiptoe curiously peeking into the basket, and ruffled his hair, "Ran into your father, he wants you to co ho for dinner."
Yao’s face scrunched up instantly, "It’s always purple fruit porridge~"
Ge Xing raised an eyebrow, "Or should I go tell your father you think his food tastes bad?"
Yao’s eyelids twitched, after quickly stowing away the items in the storage room he turned and slipped away, "Shaman, I will co again tomorrow~"
Chief Ge Xing smirked, "That rascal sure runs fast."
Watching the playful exchange between the old and young, Ji Nuan shook his head reluctantly.
Taking the basket from Chief Ge Xing, he sniffed appreciatively, "The mont you were at the door I slled the delicious aroma; it’s been making my mouth water."
He turned to get so fruit from the house, "Have so fruits first."
Ge Xing didn’t stand on ceremony, he picked up a fruit and started crunching it down.
