Ji Nuan was floating in darkness, when suddenly a bright white light appeared in front of her. She joyfully ran towards the light, only to see Bertel holding Xiu Yan, diving into the Eneru River filled with beast-eating fish.
"No!!!" She woke up screaming, glancing at her surroundings. The familiar kangs and room — she was at ho.
She wiped off her sweat. The dream had been too real, frightening her into sweating all over.
"Brother Xiu Yan? Brother Xiu Yan?" Ji Nuan called Xiu Yan’s na in an uneasy tone, yet received no response.
She forced down her unease: "Did he go out? Where would he go so early in the morning?"
Grabbing her clothes by the kangs and putting them on, she put on her shoes and left the room. Yet outside, though it was bright, it was not early morning as she had thought, but ten in the afternoon.
Scratching her head: "Did I sleep till this late today? No wonder Brother Xiu Yan isn’t here, he must have gone hunting."
With that, after washing by the pond in the yard, she walked to the kitchen where, just like always, there was a viscous sweet and crunchy fruit congee boiling in the large pot. Ji Nuan chuckled to herself: "Brother Xiu Yan is truly considerate."
With that, she scooped a bowl of congee and sat at the dining table, putting a spoonful into her mouth.
"Hmm? The sweet and crunchy fruit in the congee today is rather mushy." Ji Nuan muttered.
She liked her sweet and crunchy fruit congee slightly crisp, so Xiu Yan always added the fruit towards the end when he made it. But the fruit in today’s congee was incredibly mushy, perhaps it had been simring in the pot for too long.
After eating, Ji Nuan went back to her room and sat on the kangs, bored and bewildered. She scratched her head in confusion, "Why do I feel like I forgotten sothing? What did I forget?"
anwhile, standing outside the window were Ya Li, Fu Yi, and Clan Leader Ge Xing. They all wore grave expressions and quietly left the yard.
Clan Leader Ge Xing looked at the Orcs around him, "What do you all think of Shaman Ji Nuan’s current condition?"
The Orcs looked at each other and shook their heads helplessly.
Fu Yi pursed his lips, "It’s clear that Ji Nuan can’t rember anything from yesterday, and she believes it was all a dream."
Ya Li stood to one side, talking to the other Orcs: "To be honest, Shaman Ji Nuan is simply unable successfully accept Xiu Yan’s death, it’s not that she’s forgotten about him. Xiu Yan will never appear again, so sooner or later she’ll co to terms with it."
The Orcs remained silent. Indeed...
"Ji Nuan, my cub?" The compassionate voice of Grandma Shaman echoed in the yard. Ji Nuan broke from her distant thoughts and hurriedly ca out.
Ji Nuan saw Grandma Shaman being supported by Ya Li as she walked in and quickly led them to a small pavilion in the yard, "Grandma Shaman, is there sothing you need for today?"
Shaman Ama slowly extended her hand and clasped Ji Nuan’s tender hand in her own. Tears welled in her eyes: "Ji Nuan, have you forgotten about Xiu Yan’s passing?"
Boom!
It was as though sothing had shattered in Ji Nuan’s mind, familiar scenes started to whirl about.
The old Orc, herself being pushed away, Xiu Yan surrounded by beast-eating fish along with Bertel, Ji Nuan’s hand started to tremble. Tears flowed uncontrollably as she looked to Shaman Ama, choked by sobs: "Brother Xiu Yan is gone..."
