ng Tai took a glance at it, then tossed the stone back on the ground. From above, the stone was indeed hidden amongst a pile of rocks, with only a hint of red visible.
He laughed softly, seeming to confirm his hunch, and stooped over to pick up the rock: "Let’s take this to Shaman Ji Nuan and see what he thinks."
Ji Nuan calmly observed the stone in his hand, his heart unsettling with waves of shock. This was pure iron ore with an intensity shocking even for the beasts!
With this, their tribe wouldn’t need to creep around and con small amounts of ore from the Dashi Tribe anymore.
Nonchalantly, he tossed the iron ore on the ground and pulled a face of disappointnt: "I thought that sothing precious had grown in the stone field. Turns out it’s just a red-colored rock. Boring."
Still sprawled lazily on Xiu Yan’s back, he continued, "Let’s keep moving. I’ll look for new dicinal herbs and plants once we reach the Lamu Mountain Forest."
It was rare for the triumvirate of beasts to see Shaman Ji Nuan like this and they couldn’t resist but chuckle. The very capable Shaman Ji Nuan was acting like a young cub who hadn’t yet grown up.
Xiu Yan and Ya Li, away from the others gaze, had excitent gleaming in their eyes. Males had a particular fondness for sharp weapons like iron objects, even though they already possessed powerful claws.
The journey through the expansive stone field had taken them three whole days.
By the end, even the tough-skinned Orcs were developing wear on their running claws. Travelling across the stone field was quite challenging.
This reminded Ji Nuan of a saying: If you want to be rich, start with building roads.
It took another two-and-a-half days of traveling led by ng Tai before they finally caught sight of a dilapidated forest that resembled the Eneru Mountain Forest.
Ji Nuan looked at ng Tai: "Is this your tribe?"
ng Tai shook his head, "This is just the edge of our tribe’s territory. There’s still a bit of a journey ahead to reach our tribe."
Many trees around them had been upturned due to an earthquake, exposing their robust root systems. The shrubs that should have been laden with juicy berries lay toppled or buried under the ground.
Following ng Tai, they made their way towards the Monte Tribe’s settlent.
"Our tribe’s settlent is just up ahead." ng Tai said, his voice tinged with excitent.
Ji Nuan looked ahead - there was a relatively clear land, standing aloof within the forest. It was evident that it was once a mountain peak, but now it had collapsed into a mound of disordered stones.
Pointing at the place around the clearing, ng Tai explained, "The previous clan leader cleared the surrounding trees with other Orcs for safety, to prevent wild beasts from hiding within."
Ji Nuan nodded. The Monte Tribe’s settlent looked like an isolated utopia.
"Shhh, shhh!" They were interrupted mid-conversation when nurous large beasts suddenly sprang out from the surroundings. Ji Nuan’s heart pounded hard. How could there be so many large wild beasts?
"ng Tai?" A white tiger beast noticed ng Tai standing there and imdiately transford into an orc form, exclaiming in surprise.
Seeing that it was ng Tai who had returned, the other Orcs around also transford into their orc forms one after another, grinning and crowds around him, "We thought sothing happened to you. Why are you only returning now?"
ng Tai looked at his tribemates, a persistent smile playing on his lips. He was about to reply when he was interrupted by their exclamations of surprise.
"Shaman Ji Nuan!!!"
