Ji Nuan smiled and said, "Then, let’s start right away."
That being said, he brought Ying Yan and a few Orcs to a secluded place.
He opened his small backpack, put on the Snake Slough Gloves, and took out a small package of Fire Seed Fruit skins.
He carefully cut a piece of Fire Seed Fruit skin about the size of a grass seed and handed it to Ying Yan: "The toxicity of the Fire Seed Fruit skin depends on the amount of juice it secretes when you touch it.
The skin I have here has dried up over the past few days, so there is no juice left on it. You need to eat these skins."
Ying Yan wasn’t worried at all and pinched the fruit skin between his fingertips barehandedly.
After a while, as expected, his fingertips only felt slightly warm. He put the fruit skin in his mouth and swallowed it.
In the blink of an eye, Ying Yan’s cheeks beca as red as if they had been scalded by boiling water, and even began to emit a faint steam. Just as he was about to speak, a puff of white breath ca out from his mouth. Ji Nuan promptly handed him the antidote that she had prepared in advance.
Ying Yan was in a hurry to take it and poured it into his mouth.
A very comfortable liquid slid down his throat into his stomach, instantly cooling all the places that had just been burned as if they were on fire. All of the burning felt like it was soothed. He sighed with relief, "I survived."
Ji Nuan frowned: "Looks like it was still a bit too much."
Ge Xing twitched the corner of his mouth: "That tiny amount that was almost invisible was still too much?"
Ji Nuan nodded: "The reason for this experint is to find the right amount that can generate heat in the Orcs’ body to resist the cold on the mountain, without being burned by the poison of the Fire Seed Fruit skin."
Ge Xing scratched his golden hair: "Next ti I’ll do it. It seems Ying Yan needs a rest."
Ji Nuan nodded: "This experint on the poison of the Fire Seed Fruit can’t be done by just one Orc."
She lifted her eyes and glanced at Ge Xing: "Better choose a youthful Orc with a good physique."
Ge Xing looked at Ji Nuan in disbelief, his voice full of uncertainty: "Are you saying I’m old?"
Ji Nuan looked at him innocently: "I didn’t say..."
Ge Xing looked back at her, hurt: "That’s what you ant..."
Chief Ge Xing protested vehently against Ji Nuan’s attack on his orcish body, but ultimately couldn’t win against her persistence and could only sit angrily on a stone nearby, staring at Ji Nuan.
The reactions of the next few Orcs were not as strong as Ying Yan’s, but the aftermath of taking it indicated that the dosage was still too much.
This left Ji Nuan sowhat stumped.
She had already ground the grass-seed-sized skins into powder and mixed them in water, but there was still such a strong reaction.
Xiu Yan handed a bowl of water to Ji Nuan: "Don’t be discouraged. Try again. Maybe you’ll succeed next ti."
Ji Nuan took a deep breath and nodded.
The wind twirled the leaves by the forest edge and they fell into the bowl. Xiu Yan picked them out: "The water is dirty, I’ll get a new bowl."
Ji Nuan, however, was inspired by the one leaf that fell into the bowl and started a new line of thinking.
Xiu Yan brought over new water. Ji Nuan cut half of a grass-seed-sized fruit skin, used chopsticks to imrse it in the bowl for a count of ten and then took it out.
Then she looked towards the test-subject Orc: "You try taking a sip first."
