"All of them?" Ji Nuan asked in surprise.
Xiu Yan nodded, "There aren’t many beasts on the back mountain, but they exist here and there. We scouted along the migration path and found that areas far from other tribes have very few, if any, but the road is challenging, almost double the length of our journey to the tribal eting. If we bring females and cubs, I’m afraid they might fall ill from the long exposure to rain."
Ji Nuan could not help but smile, "After you left, we ca up with a plan. Females can ride on the backs of Orcs, covered by straw mats to protect from the rain, and cubs can sit in baskets woven onto their backs. This way, not only will it speed up our journey, but the cubs and females will also be less likely to fall ill."
This brought a sparkle to Xiu Yan’s eyes, and they beca passionately fixated on Ji Nuan, "I bet that idea was yours!"
Ji Nuan responded with a coy smile, and said nothing.
The air inside the hut was warm and inviting, insulated against the drizzle outside.
Two days later, the tribe was once again attacked by vicious beasts, injuring over a dozen Orcs and causing a great deal of tension in the tribe.
"The wounds of the injured Orcs have been dressed. The most seriously hurt will need three days to recover fully. The others should be almost healed by tomorrow," Ji Nuan said, freshly washed hands still carrying the scent of dicinal herbs, informing the Orcs in the room.
There were clear feelings of loss reflected in Grandma Shaman’s eyes, "It’s a sha that we have to abandon our newly built hos because of those damn beasts."
Uncle Ge Xing patted her arm comfortingly, "Don’t be so sad, as long as our people are here, we can build a new tribe and make better houses once we find a new safe place. Each Orc family can create courtyards like Ji Nuan."
Wiping away tears, Grandma Shaman silently nodded in agreent. Reluctantly leaving the tribe they had lived in for more than two hundred years was heart-wrenching.
"Alright, I’m going to notify the tribesn. We will start the migration in three days’ ti, just after sunrise, and together, we’ll seek out our new territory." Chief Ge Xing said, eyes alight with determination.
Both Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan responded with equally radiant eyes.
The news of the Watson Tribe’s impending migration spread like wildfire throughout the tribe. People reacted differently - so showed reluctance, others excitent, while the Orcs of the Green Mountain Tribe looked particularly sombre.
In the dwelling of Chief Sakar, several influential Orcs had assembled. The Shaman turned towards the solemn-looking Sakar and asked, "Clan Leader, what are your thoughts? Should we migrate alongside the Watson Tribe, or do we stay here?"
Sakar cast a glance towards the old Shaman and sighed, "I prefer to stay here. If the Watson Tribe indeed migrates, all these houses and the vast city wall will go to us, the Green Mountain Tribe. I -"
The Shaman shook his head, "Samuel, what are your thoughts?" he asked his disciple.
Samuel maintained a calm expression, "I think we should migrate along with the Watson Tribe. They wouldn’t abandon such a sturdy city wall and comfortable hos and move to another place during the rainy season unless they had a good reason."
He then looked at the surrounding Orcs, "This ans that even they, who built this wall, aren’t confident in its ability to withstand the attack of nurous beasts. It’s too risky for us to stay here."
