Hearing footsteps, he raised his head in displeasure. What was going on with the orc guards? Since when could anyone casually enter the Shaman’s cave?

"Shaman Ji Nuan?" But the sight of the visitor instantly dissolved his anger. Shaman Ji Nuan hadn’t been gone for long—why had she returned?

Could it be sothing about the dicinal herbs that wasn’t clear yet?

As the elder Shaman thought this, he stood up. Upon seeing the beast skin book cradled in her arms, his guess was further confird.

Ji Nuan playfully blinked her eyes. "I have a gift for the elder Shaman to thank you for teaching about these precious herbs."

Then she pointed to a more spacious area inside. "Shall we go in and talk?"

The elder Shaman nodded in slight bewildernt and led Ji Nuan to the small clearing where they had sat previously.

"When traveling in the desert, knowing so dicinal herbs will help you survive better. It’s nothing special," the elder Shaman said with a hearty wave of his hand.

Ji Nuan smiled and handed over the beast skin book she’d been holding. "Would you like to take a look at this?"

The elder Shaman accepted it with so confusion. Wasn’t this the sa book Shaman Ji Nuan had used earlier to sketch herbs?

Recognizing its value, the elder Shaman opened it with extre care, afraid to damage it.

This cautious display made Ji Nuan chuckle. "You don’t need to be so careful. This book is made from a type of wild animal’s skin. As long as you don’t burn it with fire seeds or tear it forcefully, it’s quite sturdy."

The elder Shaman laughed awkwardly—who could bla him? The beast skin was so soft.

Even though Ji Nuan explained it wasn’t fragile, the old orc still turned each page with utmost caution.

But as his eyes fell upon the drawings, he was surprised. He had seen Ji Nuan making these sketches earlier in the morning.

Alongside the herb illustrations were so small, incomprehensible symbols. But this ti, instead of those symbols, there were new illustrations.

They looked like orcs suffering from illnesses: bitten by wild beasts, bleeding heavily from large wounds on their bodies...

After flipping through the book page by page, the elder Shaman was utterly enamored with it.

As he aged, many things had started slipping from his mory—less commonly used herbs or treatnts—almost forgotten.

At tis, due to disasters or illnesses, a major tribe’s Shaman might pass away.

When that happened, the major tribe would instantly downgrade to a middle-ranked tribe, unless another Shaman rose among them.

But for a tribe that had lost its Shaman lineage, it was extrely difficult to produce another one.

With a book like this, however, there’d be no fear of losing the tribe’s shamanic traditions due to unexpected circumstances.

Reluctantly, the elder Shaman handed the book back to Ji Nuan. "It seems Shaman Ji Nuan’s tribe is truly a major tribe. It even has symbols capable of recording herbs and treatnts."

In his own tribe, there were only simple drawings, with no unified symbols—this was the reality for each tribe across the Beast World Continent.

Ji Nuan didn’t take the book from the elder Shaman’s hands but gently pushed it back toward him. "This herb compendium is a gift for the elder Shaman. Didn’t I say I was going to give you a gift?"

The elder Shaman’s hand trembled as he clutched the book. His already-small eyes widened, the wrinkles around them seemingly stretched taut.
