Ji Nuan looked at the old Shaman and Hasa: "How do you preserve your food then?"
The two orcs glanced at each other. Ji Nuan’s question was actually a bit sensitive; after all, no tribe would willingly disclose the location of their food storage to orcs from outside their tribe, even if the person asking was a Shaman.
After asking, Ji Nuan realized her wording might have been problematic, so she smiled and explained, "What I ant is, since you all live here, the mountain caves of each Orc Family wouldn’t be very large. How do you manage to preserve your food?"
Hasa and the old Shaman let out a sigh of relief; so that’s what she ant.
Hasa smiled and pointed upward: "Above the caves, we’ve dug out Food Storage Caves. At the start of the cold season, when the winds aren’t as fierce, we make the most of the ti to hunt and store enough food.
Of course, the ti isn’t enough to store too much food, so during the cold season, we still have to form hunting parties."
Ji Nuan nodded upon hearing this. So that’s how it works. This ans they don’t have any particularly effective thods of food preservation.
Ji Nuan looked to Harry: "What does Shaman Harry think?"
Harry glanced at Ji Nuan: "I think the thod proposed by the Clan Leader and Shaman is very good."
Ji Nuan looked at him: "I think it would be better to dig a mountain cave on the outskirts myself."
Hasa looked at Ji Nuan: "Shaman, we live in a closer location where, in case of danger, we can assist one another. Also, we’ll take responsibility for the food supply of the two Shamans."
Harry nodded in agreent. He shared the sa sentint—after all, it’s a common unspoken rule among tribes. When a traveling Shaman arrives at a tribe, that tribe must provide food for the Shaman.
Of course, this rule only applies to the Shaman’s food; Guardian Orcs still need to hunt for their own provisions.
Ji Nuan still shook her head: "I insist on digging a mountain cave myself."
She raised her hand to stop Hasa and the old Shaman from speaking further: "Hear out first. I’ve already heard that during the desert’s cold season, it’s not just about dealing with the wind; there are also constant attacks from Desert Wolves and other wild beasts.
My partner is a powerful evolved orc, and our chances of surviving at the outskirts are far greater than those of ordinary orcs.
Moreover, I have excellent dicinal powders that will ensure those predators cannot enter our mountain cave.
Most importantly, I need a larger mountain cave to store food and firewood."
"Firewood?" Both the old Shaman and Hasa gazed at Ji Nuan in astonishnt. Why would she gather that? Did she need it to craft many weapons during the cold season?
"In our tribe, all the food we eat needs to be roasted or cooked with Fire Seed. We no longer eat raw at, and even water must be boiled with Fire Seed before drinking. Hence, the mountain cave I need is much larger than you might imagine."
Ji Nuan was aware of their doubts and directly laid out her reasoning.
Though they found the habits of Ji Nuan’s tribe quite peculiar, the old Shaman and Hasa decided to respect them nonetheless.
Then they turned to Harry: "What about you, Shaman Harry?"
After all, the two Shamans were from different tribes, so it was better to ask them separately.
Clearly, their decision was correct—Harry preferred to live closer to the water source: "We still wish to settle nearer to the lake."
He avoided looking at Ji Nuan, feeling slightly embarrassed.
