The two beasts also collected the cacti scattered nearby, broken by the sandstorm.
Although Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan could no longer eat these, they could serve as food for Maomao and the others.
The ones that were snapped off were not any thick trunks, mostly undernourished or newly grown weak branches.
Not to ntion the water content, the flesh left after peeling the skin would probably be very little.
The sandstorm was fierce; about one-third of the cactus they encountered yesterday was buried in sand.
The surrounding environnt also bewildered the two beasts, with the storm creating sandbags and flattening so sand dunes.
It even brought so things that weren’t there before, as Ji Nuan saw so sparse green plants around, not cactuses, but more like balls of grass rolled together.
Their roots were not visible, and they would roll away with the wind blowing.
Occasionally, if they had bad luck and rolled under cals’ feet, they would stop to nibble on them, but only at the tender parts.
By noon, the temperature rose again; sweat mixed with sand felt like rolling in mud, making Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan very uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a male cal at the very front let out a very high-pitched cry, instantly drawing the attention of Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan.
The rest of the cals also stopped, several males went ahead together, while Maomao stayed in place, stomping its hooves nervously.
Xiu Yan, too, arrived at the front with the cal he was riding.
The reason the cals were on alert was because of a giant pangolin curled up into a ball ahead.
The oppressive aura emanating from the pangolin, and the slightly familiar scent...
Xiu Yan squinted his eyes, it was the strange orc who had once gone with them to the Beast God Mountain.
Around this pangolin, he could also sll several different scents, likely from the sa orc’s companions.
"Brother Xiu Yan, what’s ahead?" Ji Nuan’s sowhat anxious voice sounded from behind.
Being much shorter than the other male cals, Maomao and Ji Nuan inside the protective circle of the males couldn’t really see what was happening at the front.
"It’s the stranger orc from the tribe that went with us to the Beast God Mountain last ti."
There was no hint of excitent in Xiu Yan’s voice, rely stating the presence of a foreign orc.
Only then did Ji Nuan urge Maomao to move forward. The cals were sowhat restless due to the oppressive aura of the pangolin orc, exhibiting their most instinctual response to danger.
Ji Nuan and Xiu Yan had never released their evolutionary beastn’s oppressive aura on the cals, so they were very close to them.
Although a bit afraid, Maomao still went ahead, standing by Xiu Yan’s side.
Most of the pangolin orc’s massive body was buried in the sand, with only half of its body visible.
Although it was motionless, the continuous aura it emitted suggested that it was probably not dead.
Xiu Yan glanced at Ji Nuan: "Shall we go check it out?"
Ji Nuan grinned, revealing a row of gleaming white teeth: "Then I’ll have to trouble Brother Xiu Yan."
Xiu Yan looked at her with a smile and just when she thought he would go by himself, the orc stretched his long arms and tightly embraced her seated on Maomao’s back.
His resolute chin rubbed against her sowhat dusty forehead, leaving a funny mark: "How could I leave you behind at such a mont, my partner, hmm?"
