"Haah, I thought it would be easy to get this guy to submit."
Lucas was sitting on the ground, in a crouched position while a small creature was eating a piece of dried at right from his hand.
He was holding a long piece and while being safe, he was also able to bribe the damn thing.
"Lucas, can we go now? I really have to try my skill."
"Yeah, but how the hell do I make it a tad beast? It can clearly beco one. Just the fact that it is not attacking shows the potential."
Lucas said and after thinking for so ti, he called Ella.
"Are you crazy?! I don't want others here right now!"
Sandra was screaming to not call her yet Lucas did it anyway.
After he cut the call, he stared at Sandra as if she had done sothing wrong.
"I will handle it, don't worry."
After so while, Ella finally ca to them, Sarah had to give her a lot of directions but it was a good thing that they had not gone too far.
Yet she was not alone.
"Lucas, what the hell is that thing?" John spoke with a curious look.
Lucas had not predicted the fact that soone else was also going to co with her but when he thought about it a little more, it seed like a natural thing.
He saw Sandra giving him the stink eye, he knew he had not planned it through properly yet he still didn't think there was any trouble related to their promise.
"So this is the thing you called for?" Ella asked while looking at the creature.
"Yeah, it is. Aunt Ella, can you activate your skill from there and try to ta it please?"
"I can try but there are no promises, Lucas."
"That's fine, we can only try. But please be careful, I think it will still attack if you co too close."
"Do those spikes co off?" John asked again, with his hand caressing his beard.
"How did you know? Have you seen this type of creature before?"
"Just intuition, those spikes look like that of a porcupine. And the way you are sitting down where the spikes can't hurt you also gave it away."
Lucas looked back again and observed, John was right.
Lucas was way down and was almost laying on the ground and the creature couldn't shoot its spikes at him.
He looked at John and felt so sort of an emotion that was close to envy, he wanted to have that kind of common sense which was beyond common sense to be exact.
'Damn, this is definitely experience.' Lucas thought, and he finally got to realize why there was a huge gap between him and John aside from age.
Lucas knew there should be a gap between them, it was only natural but it was not like this with many.
With people like Jerry and Mike, even his father. Lucas could compete with them in creativity and decision-making. But with John, it was like no matter how many steps Lucas took, he would always fall short.
It was because of the experience John gained from living his life the way not many individuals do. On the pursuit of knowledge, no matter what it was.
He was a jack of all trades, a thing Lucas dread of becoming one day.
Lucas ca out of his thoughts and realized yet another thing. His capacity for thinking had increased a lot. He just kept thinking and thinking in such a short ti.

"Lucas?"
"Hm? Yeah?"
"The monster is nibbling on your finger."
Lucas looked down and saw his finger that was inside the monster's mouth. It was not really chewing but grinding its teeth on his finger.
Lucas retracted his hand back which even startled the creature. It sniffed in the air and found that all the at was now gone.
It had already eaten everything.
"Lucas, step back. It might want to attack now."
Lucas looked at Ella who was eying the creature with seriousness, suddenly, her eyes beca green in color.
His perceptive eyes opened instinctively and Lucas saw the full glow of her eyes.
The glow seed to extend into a strand of greenish energy that Lucas followed with his eyes and to his delight.
It connected to yet another set of eyes, it was the creature's. Lucas looked at them one after another and saw for the first ti that a skill was being used from another perspective.
Till now, Lucas had not seen skills used like this.
His perceptive eyes were still activated when suddenly, he saw the vein of color change in form.
"Whoa…" Lucas was shocked and happy to see the beautiful changes, the vein changed into an ethereal-looking chain connecting both their eyes together.
"It's done." Ella said while smiling, she crouched down and called for the creature who was looking at her with curiosity.
Soon, the creature went running toward her in his own playful way while stumbling here and there and jumped on her.
"Wait!"
"Don't!"
Even after John and Lucas got alert while warning her and wanted her to move, Ella welcod the creature with warmth.
"It's okay."
She grabbed it midair and gave it a good squeeze as if it was a stuffed toy.
Lucas looked at her hands that were on the spikes yet she didn't squeak or anything,
"What the hell?" Lucas was shocked beyond asure. Why was she not getting hurt?
John couldn't control himself anymore and made his way toward them.
"It doesn't hurt, honey. Spiky can manipulate his spikes to beco sharp or just like rough rocks. See? They are blunt right now." She said while showing them by pricking her fingers on the spikes.
'She gave another bad na…'
"… Lucas."
"Yes, Uncle John?"
"You did a good job today, I am proud."
"Thanks." Lucas said normally yet he was very proud from the inside.
Getting the creature to get tad was the small achievent, the bigger one was sothing else.
