After he checked the water for any dangers by throwing random rocks in it and so grass to know how fast the water was.

The young man finally dipped his whole feet inside the river making his trousers wet yet he didn't care at all.

After a bit of ti, a young man was inside the river buck naked taking his dear ti to wash himself off.

All the fishes that seed dangerous went forward toward the current making Lucas think that they were scared of him.

He wasn't able to get the description of the many fishes but he didn't care, the shelter may have had a water source but seeing such a freshwater body felt relieving and exciting in a whole different way.

The whole river was empty and only clear, clean, and fresh water flowed continuously.

Lucas swam easily with his strength and after taking all the ti he could give to the river, he finally got out and wore his clothes making them wet too.

Lucas reluctantly bid farewell to the river and went back to the shelter in order to give everyone the great news.

When he was gone, the water body was calm for a long ti until the fish ca back again and they were not alone.

A creature akin to the myths just strolled around in the water with the fishes, its eyes looking at the wet footmarks on the ground that connected with the water body.

*"You said it looked intelligent~ Where is it?"* A sweet voice ca out of the creature's mouth as it strolled so more as if the water was like a road for it.

.

Lucas was already inside the shelter and had called an urgent eting.

After only being there for 5 minutes, Lucas told everyone that there was a river near them.

"Is the water still?" John asked with his hand fiddling with the bow he was carrying.

"Still? No, it keeps flowing to the east."

"There are even fish in it. We should all go and look at it, co with ." Lucas said with a smile, he was very excited to go back.

It was like a vacation trip that he hadn't been to for as long as he rembered in the plains of Amaeron.

"How far is it?"

"Hm... around 40 minutes give or take. Let's leave already."

"Sigh... it would have been great if the river was near the shelter..." Haley said with a groan, she knew that it was 40 minutes of walking for Lucas but for her and so others, it was about 1.5 hours of travel.

Lucas froze, his thoughts beca active again when he got yet another small enlightennt.

"The river near the shelter, why didn't I think of it sooner..." He said and his eyes darted to Haley who he felt grateful toward.

"Haah... what is it this ti?" Mike asked tired, Lucas had a tendency to bring about small but exhausting tasks and he feared that Lucas had thought about sothing tough this ti around too.

"The river is flowing! Let's just dig and form a canal or whatever it is called toward the shelter!"

The group looked at Lucas with puzzled expressions, trying to comprehend his sudden burst of enthusiasm. "Are you serious?" Haley asked, raising an eyebrow. "Digging a canal sounds like hard work, and we don't even know if it's doable."

Lucas nodded eagerly, his excitent undeterred. "Think about it. If we can divert so of the water from the river toward the shelter, we'll have a constant supply of fresh water right at our doorstep!"

"But don't I already provide you all with fresh water?" Sandra chid in clearly offended that her efforts were put to waste by Lucas.

"And thank you but look at how great it would feel to have a river right beside our shelter. Maybe we can even get so of those fishes accidentally here, free food!"

Lucas's enthusiasm was like a communicable disease. He spoke in such a way that made the other see the light in his idea even when it felt to be not possible for now because of the shortage of ti.

"Wait, but we need to weigh the pros and cons first."

"Ugh, fine. Do it quick." Lucas said and sat on the log clearly restless.

From that point, everyone voiced their concerns and approvals making Lucas intrigued with all the things they were all thinking about.

It made him wonder how it's so great to have groups to think with, rather than doing it solo. A group ans more brain power and more brain power result in a better understanding of things.

They were still not done and the sun set completely making the whole plains of Amaeron pitch dark.

"Alright, let's continue this tomorrow, for now, we eat and then sleep," John said and got up.

Many did and when they were all going to leave, Lucas voiced sothing else.

"And tomorrow, with the help of Bill, we will be checking the progress of everyone to see if anyone is falling behind and to help."

John smiled and gave a thumbs up in response and they all had to oblige anyway.

Even if Lucas was a kid and did not have much patience, they still respected him as a leader as he had the guts to see things through and even act on them.

Since he was the leader, nobody was out of line and if things went south even a single ti, Lucas would chi in and voice his thought in order to be the diator and fix the argunts before they could beco big.

Living in a place where many different people with different personalities were forcefully living together, things had a way of going south and for that, a Leader was needed.

Many in their hearts also wanted John to take the lead but seeing his support for Lucas and interest in making him the leader, not him made them sure that John wouldn't beco the leader due to the lack of his approval.

This ant that there was no need to point out that they wanted John as the leader.

Lucas didn't know these things but he had the support of many great figures in his life. John, Ella, his mother, father, and even his sister taught him to act on things the right way and he was always grateful for that.

The age gap was always sothing that would make him not seem worthy but luckily, his group was not half bad. If there was a governnt official or an army general here, things would have been different but for now, Lucas was there for them all.

The next day, the group gathered early in the morning to resu their discussion about the potential canal project. As the sun began to rise, Lucas found himself filled with anticipation to see how the discussion would unfold.

Topics went from one thing to another and soon, everyone had approved of the project that Lucas had proposed.

"But do you think it will work? No offense but we don't know anything about geography or not a single one of us has the experience or knowledge to pull out sothing like this." Barney said while looking at Lucas with a serious gaze.

"I have seen a video about it so ti ago," John said proudly.

"Of course you have." Mike hissed.

Things escalated again and Lucas sighed, being the leader was a bit tough sotis. He couldn't just tell them what to do and expect a proper yes, it was, for now, a democracy and not a dictatorship. Enjoy new stories from empire

"Enough!" Lucas shouted making all of them to shut their yaps.

"If Uncle John says that he knows, then I am sure he knows about it. But for everyone to trust you, why don't you explain the process of how we could do it?" Lucas asked John who in turn sighed in relief.

"Alright, give a minute to settle my thoughts."

"No problem."

After taking five minutes of proper silence, John finally started speaking again.

"From what I understand, first we will need to look at the terrain, whether it is high from one point or low to the other or the distance from the water body to the shelter. We also need to consider a way so that the water we direct doesn't just divert on its own and ruin the work we do or the forest."

"If we think we are able enough to proceed, we need so equipnt that I don't know we can get. These can be shovels, pickaxes, and even those wheelbarrows."

"What's a wheelbarrow?" Soone chid in and from John's expression, Lucas knew that he was just waiting for soone to ask.

"It's a type of cart that we can use to shift the many rocks, soil, and dirt that we take out. It makes work easy and Hmm... has only one tyre in the front."

"Oh, that... but where can we get a wheel?" Sandra asked.

"We don't need one."
