Jake froze when he felt the piercing gaze. He was hidden well behind a tree, but he could tell that the man was looking at him.
’He found . How did that happen? Shit, I have to get out of here,’ Jake thought, but before he could move a muscle, the spear ca flying through the air.
The man threw the spear—it moved so fast it beca invisible.
[Danger! RUN]
The system sent out a danger warning to Jake, but Jake was not fast enough. The spear struck the tree and exploded it to bits. He flew through the air, pushed back by the force.
His back slamd into another tree and he collapsed to the ground, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
’Shit, I couldn’t even react in ti. How can soone be this strong?’ Jake wondered. He bit his lower lip, trying to fight the pain.
The man walked closer and pulled his spear out of the rubble. His glowing red eyes locked on Jake.
"Who sent you?" he asked, pointing his spear at him. "Speak, and I’ll give you a painless death."
’Huh? What the fuck is wrong with this dude? You just see soone and assu soone sent them? You almost shattered my bones,’ Jake yelled in his mind.
"No one. I was only passing by," Jake said. He pushed himself off the ground slowly, wiping the blood with the back of his arm.
"Huh? How dare you lie to ?" the man raged and was ready to finish Jake off.
"I have no reason to lie. Do I look like soone important? I’m weak and young," Jake said imdiately, blurting out whatever ca to his head. But it seed to work, because the man slowly lowered the spear.
"Hahahaha! Hahahaha! Seems I mistook you for soone from that bitch’s family. But you’re simply an unlucky wanderer."
The word unlucky struck Jake like a chord. He balled his fists when he heard it. He looked at the man, his gaze slightly colder than before—but the man was too busy talking to notice sothing had changed.
"Either way, I’ll kill you today. Bla your own bad luck for that. I can’t allow soone who has seen what has happened to live," he said and raised his spear again.
"My own bad luck?" Jake asked suddenly. The way he asked the question confused the man.
"What the hell do you know about bad luck? You think it’s sothing so fickle? DO YOU?" Jake yelled. His blood was boiling—his rage through the roof.
This good-for-nothing sack of flesh decided it was Jake’s bad luck that caused all this? A word Jake had left behind when he died. In this world, he no longer believed in any luck. Like the goddess said—he would build his own fate.
"You talk too much, kid. Just die already," the man said and thrust the spear.
Clang.
The spear struck a shield. The skeleton managed to take the blow. It was pushed back, but there hadn’t been enough force in it to kill.
The man’s eyes widened inside the armor when he saw that a skeleton had blocked the attack. While he was stunned for a second, the second skeleton ran up from the side and charged at him.
’This kid is a necromancer? One of the unique classes? I guess he wasn’t just a nobody. But sadly,’ "these skeletons will not be enough to save you!" the man yelled and swung his spear, shattering both skeletons in one motion.
Their bones flew into the air. Their weapons fell to the ground. And Jake cracked a sinister smile.
"I know. They were only a distraction," Jake said.
The man heard that and was confused, but suddenly a light from beneath him caught his attention. He looked down—and saw a massive magical circle under him.
Imdiately, he could tell sothing was coming. He leapt into the air, trying to get away.
"Don’t let him run, Drake," Jake said.
"Yes, master," Drake replied, before erging from the circle. Only his neck was out, and he already snapped at the man with full force.
The man was beyond shocked. He was stunned. But years of battle instincts kicked in. He used his spear to block the mouth, and was imdiately slamd back.
He flipped in the air and managed to land on his feet, his spear digging into the ground to stop him from skidding far.
He looked up—and he saw the dragon in all its glory, curled around the trees.
’This kid was definitely not a normal bystander. I got played. This is an undead dragon. There’s no way I can take it.
Luckily, this entire forest is too small for it to move freely. I can escape in that ti’.
Jake suddenly smiled, as if he knew what the man was thinking. "Drake, make so space."
"Understood, master," Drake replied and began moving. Imdiately, the trees shattered, breaking and snapping like twigs. His tail was like a scythe through rice.
In three seconds, his entire body could move more freely.
’It cleared out the trees so easily? They did nothing to stop it. What sort of physical strength is that?’ The man imdiately got on his feet. He watched the dragon closely—he knew a battle was inevitable.
"Who are you? How do you have such a summon? There’s no way you’re a nobody!" the man yelled.
"Oh, I definitely am a nobody. I barely know anything about this world," Jake said.
"Then how? How is this possible?" the man asked. Jake could hear the disbelief in his voice.
"I have no obligation to tell a dead man anything," Jake said.
[You want to kill him? I thought you didn’t want to do that?]
"He is extrely powerful, and instead of doing anything else, he tried to kill . If I didn’t have Drake, I would have been dead by now. I will not initiate the death of anyone, but I will reciprocate what was done to —in double."
