The night passed quick. Jake hadn’t slept at all; he spent the night reading so books he randomly picked from her warehouse, trying to gather whatever information he could get. But it seed she only had so books on small towns, local myths, and useless information.

The orange hue of the sun had barely made it over the horizon line, and Jake had already packed everything that he needed. He washed his tracksuit that night and let it out to dry, so after a bath this morning, he wore them again.

After that, he woke Ophelia up and asked her to go prepare. This ti, she went in alone. The reason Crypt had helped before was because she was badly injured, but that wasn’t the case anymore.

She took around ten minutes to get ready, and they could finally leave. The streets were empty. The cold air blew across their faces, whistling in the distance.

[I’m taking it you have no intention to know about the shop feature you unlocked at level ten.]

"Oh, that. With everything that was going on, it kind of slipped my mind," Jake said. He could literally hear the system click its tongue when it heard that.

[Whatever, I’m going to sleep.]

"Wait, wait, since you’ve brought it up already, why not tell about it?" Jake said.

[You didn’t want it, so why should I?]

"Stop being a drama queen and tell already," Jake said.

[Who the hell are you calling a drama queen? Piss off and I’ll lock the shop feature.]

"Fine, sorry. Now please tell about the shop feature," Jake apologized and asked.

[Better. The shop feature is simple—you go there to buy so things. In this case, skills, spells, abilities, and on special occasions, items. There are a whole lot of things to get from the store.]

"Ohh? That’s really nice. I really need to check it out," Jake said. "So what’s the currency used for the shop?" he asked.

[Soul shards. The thing you’ve been gathering for a while now—that’s what you need for it.]

Jake eagerly opened the system shop. His eyes were imdiately blessed with the hundreds and hundreds of items that he could get.

He saw skills like Undead Heart, Eye of the Dead, along with many other things that had very good descriptions. But when he looked at the prices, he froze. A single one cost about three thousand shards. He only had a little above three thousand.

"What the hell are these prices?" he asked.

[Hmph. You are really stupid, thinking that quality stuff will co for cheap. What you saw is on the cheap end—if you saw the real stuff, you’d pass out.]

"I think I’ll allow the shop be for now," Jake said and closed the interface.

They had been walking for so ti now. The sun was slowly coming up, and everywhere was getting brighter. But they finally arrived at the gate of the town.

A rchant carriage stood at the gate, pulled by two horses. Jake imdiately spotted Rion and Seer with the carriage. He hastened his footsteps and caught up to them.

"Was starting to worry that you would bail on us," Seer said.

"Na, it’s not ti for that yet," Jake said with a chuckle.

"Alright, let’s move," Rion said and climbed into the carriage. Seer got on the front; she would be the one to ride it.

Crypt also got in, and it was Jake and Ophelia left standing outside. Jake walked toward the carriage, but he noticed Ophelia hadn’t moved. He turned to look at her—she was staring at the town.

"Sotis it’s best to leave where you know and look for new places. Outside might not be better, but it’s definitely worth checking," Jake said.

"I understand that. I’m just going to miss so of the children that were with from ti to ti," she said and turned away, heading to the carriage and climbing in.

Seer imdiately got the carriage moving. They passed the gates and headed down the path.

Inside the top office of the Lurg guild, Leon was lying down on the long couch inside the office, sleeping.

The office was not anything outworldly, but it was cozy and beautiful. His desk took center stage, made from polished black wood. Underneath it was a carpet surely made from the skin of a beast.

A stack of papers and books lay on the table, untouched. It was easy to tell that he hadn’t sat at the table all through, from the cold cup of tea that was sitting there.

Suddenly, his eyes shot open the very mont the carriage left the town. He got up from the couch, scratched the back of his head, and yawned.

He got on his feet and walked to his desk. He picked up the cup of coffee, and despite its cold and overstayed state, he drank it all in one go.

"Ahhhh, much better," he said as he sat down on his chair, pulling out his drawing and taking out a small tal cube marked with runes all over.

He bit into his finger and allowed his blood to drop on it. The runes lit up, and a bright light shot from the cube, covering the entire room and changing it into a grand circular hall.

He stood at the center of the hall, standing on the marble floors. Underneath him was the depiction of a dark dragon coiling around the sun.

In front of him were ten massive fifteen-foot-tall marble thrones. And on each throne was a figure covered with a black cloak with golden patterns.

Their faces were all obscured. The light in the hall faded slowly, and then a spotlight shot from the ceiling onto Leon.

Leon bowed a full ninety degrees and spoke. "Bishops, I, this humble disciple, greet you," he said.

"Disciple Leon, it’s been a while since we have heard from you. We trust that this urgent summon from you is sothing very important," a voice bood through the hall. Leon couldn’t tell which of the ten had spoken.

"Yes, indeed. I believe I have found soone fit for our cause," he said.
