"What a pity."

Hearing Chenier's explanation, Reesi handed the interrogation records to Winslow, and said bored:

"I've never seen those gold bars salvaged from a shipwreck at the bottom of the sea."

"I haven't seen them either."

Chenier took a sip of coffee, also very interested in the topic.

After glancing at the interrogation records, Winslow set them aside and smiled:

"I heard that if such gold bars are put up for auction, they sell for much higher than the price of gold itself."

"Makes sense."

Michelle, who was nearby, approached with a smile and said:

"After all, those gold bars have been underwater for decades, so besides the value of the gold itself, there's an added value as historical artifacts. Many wealthy people love that sort of thing."

Reesi and the group laughed as they discussed the shipwreck gold, and Mona soon joined in. anwhile, Luo An was on the phone at a distance, speaking with Supervisor Elr from the IRS.

Supervisor Elr was in a good mood. Luo An had delivered another big case to him, and he laughed:

"We've checked on that Harrison Hamid, and his financial situation is indeed problematic.

And about Lawyer Ilhan, his identity is almost confird as soone Harrison Hamid kept outside to handle his affairs."

Luo An chuckled and said:

"So, it looks like you'll be busy for a few more days."

"Is there ever a day the IRS isn't busy?"

Supervisor Elr laughed heartily. Usually, he's swamped with minor matters, not much money, and no drive to handle them.

This ti, Harrison Hamid was undoubtedly a big catch. Supervisor Elr wished for more such intense workload every day.

After so chitchat, Supervisor Elr voluntarily ended the call.

As for the bank robber Campbell Hank, Supervisor Elr did not seek Luo An's input.

The IRS-CI has the authority to arrest first and gather evidence later. Supervisor Elr was confident he could find evidence directly on Harrison Hamid, making Campbell Hank's involvent unnecessary for him.

Luo An still needed Campbell Hank for follow-up tasks, so Supervisor Elr planned to reciprocate by providing relevant information to Luo An after finding evidence on Harrison Hamid to help convict Campbell Hank.

Staring at his phone, Luo An reflected for a few seconds before calling another number:

"Good evening, Chief."

"Good evening, Luo An."

Trick Kennedy's laughter ca through the phone. Upon hearing that Luo An and his team had cracked the case, he was montarily surprised before his laughter grew heartier. Luo An briefly summarized the situation of the case, concluding with:

"Chief, the super counterfeit money produced by Herman was mostly burned in the fire, but a small portion survived and was picked up by various people.

This counterfeit money has been circulating in places like Georgia and South Carolina, covering a vast area."

"I'll handle this matter."

Understanding that Luo An lacked authority in this area, Trick Kennedy chuckled and assured him that he would assign people to manage the follow-up work.

"OK, thank you, Chief."

After a few more pleasantries, Trick Kennedy hung up. Luo An stretched with a smile and turned to join Reesi and the others.

"What are you guys discussing?"

"Talking about the shipwreck of the Arica."

Mona handed Luo An a cup of coffee and smiled:

"Reesi is very interested in the gold from that shipwreck and wants to rent a boat to salvage it."

"Nice dream."

Luo An took the coffee with a smile and said:

"But technical issues aren't that easy to resolve."

The number of sunken ships worldwide is countless, and very few have been salvaged. The sea pressure and complex underwater environnt are current problems that are difficult for humanity to solve.

After discussing the gold for a while, Michelle suddenly slapped her forehead and asked:

"Luo An, what should we do about Campbell Hank?"

At that mont, Campbell Hank was still arrogantly sitting in the interrogation room, as if he had everything under control, showing no signs of panic.

"..." x5

Through the glass in the corridor, Chenier, Mona, and the others were speechless at Campbell Hank's deanor.

Luo An chuckled, waved his hand, and said:

"Winslow, Reesi, send him to the temporary detention facility."

All they needed was for Supervisor Elr from the IRS-CI to find key evidence from the wealthy Harrison Hamid, allowing the Special Investigation Team to focus on handling Campbell Hank's murder case, bank robbery, and other cases.

"No problem."

Winslow and Reesi exchanged a smile, opened the interrogation room door, and without wasting any words with Campbell Hank, dragged him out of the office area.

In the following days, the special investigation team handled the aftermath of the cases together. After Michelle completed so procedural tasks, Luo An led the team on a flight back to Washington D.C.

At 5:30 PM, Luo An opened the villa's door and, after changing shoes, sprawled onto the sofa with a look of contentnt:

"It's indeed more comfortable at ho."

"Scoot over a bit."

Mona patted Luo An's backside to make room for herself, then tossed a cushion aside and flopped onto the sofa, echoing Luo An's sentint:

"You're right, it's more comfortable at ho."

While on business trips, the Special Investigation Team's accommodations were not bad, almost never leaving various hotels.

But hotel suites, after all, weren't as cozy as being at ho. Plus, with complex case developnts, the team often couldn't rest regularly. Late nights were common, and sotis, a nap in the car counted as rest.

Now that the case was over, the Special Investigation Team finally had so downti. The two lay on the sofa, not wanting to speak, rendering the villa exceptionally quiet.

After a few minutes, Mona suddenly spoke:

"Luo An, what are we having for dinner tonight?"

"I don't know."

Luo An exhaled deeply, propped himself up with his arms, and sat up on the sofa, grinning:

"How about we go out to eat later?"

"Sounds good."

Mona picked up the cushion and placed it back on the sofa, asking:

"So, what should we eat when we go out?"

"at, lots and lots of at."

Luo An was a at lover. While he tolerated vegetables, they could never take center stage in his als.

Mona rolled her eyes but said nothing, fully familiar with each other's dietary habits after living together for so long.

"Then I want to have a pine nut strawberry and red coconut cake."

Mona thought for a mont and shared her own craving. As for whether eating cake would lead to weight gain, she temporarily put that aside.

After all, with the case resolved, the evenings ahead wouldn't lack for activity.

After chatting for a bit, with the sun setting, the two began to go upstairs to change clothes, then left the villa and drove to one of their frequent BBQ restaurants.

Before long, steaks, lamb, oysters, and more were served by the waitstaff.

"..."

Mona shot Luo An a glare. Luo An chose to ignore it, picked up his knife and fork, and indulged heartily.

Mona, accustod to Luo An's occasional audacity, wasn't bothered. She focused on savoring her selected food.

While eating and chatting, Mona asked:

"How's your investnt on Wall Street going?"

Luo An swallowed an oyster and replied:

"So far, so good."

Property prices in the Federation were visibly collapsing, and Michael Brey was too busy to even answer calls.

"By the way."

Luo An's expression flickered as he rembered sothing:

"Mona, how's your father doing these days?"
