At 11 a.m., an office in New York, office area.

After pressing the answer button, Luo An offhandedly said:

"Good morning, chief."

Vireness on the other end of the phone hmm-ed without any nonsense and asked directly:

"Was there a female journalist looking for you yesterday?"

"Yes, that happened."

Luo An waved his hand to signal Chenier and Mona to deal with the follow-up work of the serial murder case; he walked to the window and briefly described yesterday's situation, then squinted his eyes and asked:

"Chief, you're not going to tell that the female journalist was killed, are you?"

"No, she's still alive and well."

Vireness rolled her eyes in annoyance and asked:

"Why would you think that? Do you have a grudge against that female journalist?"

"No, Chief."

With the negative answer, Luo An breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed his temples, helplessly saying:

"It's mainly because lately, being tornted by one murder case plus two serial murder cases, I've been sowhat ntally allergic."

This was the first ti Luo An encountered three cases cramd together, and the cases were complicated with nurous leads, demanding a lot of effort from him.

"I understand, you've been working hard these days."

Hearing the sigh from Luo An, Vireness's eyes flashed with understanding, and her tone slowed down a lot, saying softly:

"Let tell you sothing, the Council has decided, Mike Monroe is not suitable to continue serving as the Council Chairman.

The Republican Party and Democratic Party are already preparing for the election of the next Chairman."

Luo An raised his eyebrows and said:

"It's quite surprising that those old n in Congress are moving so quickly this ti."

"After all, it involves their own interests."

Vireness chuckled, then said in a low voice:

"By the way, do you rember the minister of the Professional Responsibility Office, Antoine?"

"I rember him all too well."

Luo An narrowed his eyes, his reputation growing wider, and Minister Antoine had put in a lot of effort.

Hearing sothing off in Vireness's tone, Luo An asked in a low voice:

"What happened to him?"

"He was kicked to the Special Service Bureau by Director Robert."

Vireness let out a cold chuckle and said:

"This case involving 'the organization' indeed has extensive implications; it's easy to inadvertently plunge into the abyss.

But from another perspective, as long as you can grasp it, it's also a great opportunity.

Initially, so people in the Special Service Bureau didn't disclose all the information, leading Director Robert to assu the issue was not important, so he agreed to their people and issued us a command to halt for one day, then proceed the next.

Just to be safe, those people contacted Antoine again, asking him to help detain your agents, divert your attention, and make you temporarily leave the case."

Hearing the investigation results from Vireness, Luo An pondered for a mont and said in a low voice:

"It seems that although our Minister Antoine's body is with the FBI, his heart is with the Special Service Bureau."

"No."

Vireness lowered her voice, speaking seriously:

"You're wrong, Luo An, Antoine's heart is not only in the Special Service Bureau; his heart is also in many other places.

His body is not with the FBI, but with the Jews.

This ti when the Special Service Bureau contacted Antoine for help, it was also so Jewish mbers from there."

Vireness continued, stating that when Luo An led the Unit 13 investigation team to capture Francisco and explained the situation related to 'the organization' case, almost being misled and losing a significant political achievent, Director Robert was furious.

After arranging for others to handle the aftermath of the case, it beca known that Minister Antoine used underhanded tactics to intervene and try to obstruct Luo An's case work. Director Robert beca even angrier and found an excuse to dismiss Minister Antoine from his position, relegating him to the Special Service Bureau.

Vireness said coldly:

"This kind of behavior, disregarding one's own position to serve other departnts, is a big mistake committed by Antoine."

Luo An chuckled and said:

"It's quite normal, after all, he is Jewish."

"You should refrain from saying such things in the future."

Vireness casually advised Luo An, then added:

"This case with 'the organization' involves a lot, both Director Robert and Mr. Clent are occupied with it, and it probably won't conclude anyti soon.

Once it's over, as the lead on this case, you should be able to advance another step in your position."

"That possibility seems very slim."

Luo An shook his head repeatedly, not believing what Vireness had said.

He had only recently joined the FBI at Washington Headquarters, and with age being a hurdle he couldn't overco, Luo An had long been prepared to hold his position as team leader of Team 13 for three to five years to accumulate experience.

Now Vireness was saying that he might be able to advance further up... This pie in the sky seed too large; Luo An didn't believe it.

"No, Luo An, there's a great possibility."

On the other end of the phone, Vireness's eyes narrowed slightly, speaking aningfully:

"What I just ntioned was not about your rank, but your position.

You must rember, we are the FBI. When we encounter certain cases, headquarters often establishes special investigative teams."

Currently, Luo An's rank within the FBI is that of team leader, which is the Supervisory Special Agent.

Above the Supervisory Special Agent is the team supervisor, or the Assistant Special Agent in Charge, the position Vireness once held at the New York Branch.

Luo An having just beco a team leader and having recently joined the FBI at Washington Headquarters, of course it's not possible for him to be promoted to team supervisor so quickly.

But many tis, position does not equate to power, and this is the sa from ancient tis to the present, both East and West.

Just like during the Three Kingdoms period in the East towards the end of the Han dynasty, the Han Xian Emperor was indeed the emperor and the highest-ranking person in the nation, but his power was far less than that of Cao Cao, the pri minister at the ti.

The implication in Vireness's words was simple: Luo An's rank might not change in the short term, but by leading a special investigative team, he would manage more people, access more information, and possess higher authority...

This was essentially a significant, albeit unofficial, promotion.

"Wow."

Luo An understood the aning in Vireness's words and rembered those special case investigative teams.

Promotion is a good thing, but Luo An wasn't in a rush to rejoice; he was more concerned about what cos with power, so he imdiately asked:

"Chief, what kind of work do these special investigative teams do?"

"It involves so confidential cases, not suitable to discuss over the phone."

Vireness said:

"When you return to the FBI Washington Headquarters, I can show you so of it."

After pausing for a few seconds, Vireness rembered Luo An's character and added:

"Those confidential cases may not always carry substantial rit, but they definitely present a lot of money-making opportunities."

"Okay, Chief."

Hearing the word 'money-making', Luo An's eyes lit up, and he responded loudly:

"I will definitely handle this case promptly and return to headquarters as quickly as possible, not letting down your expectations!"

"…"

Vireness rolled her eyes beautifully, briefly discussing the upcoming serial killer case targeting street workers, and then prepared to hang up the phone.

Just then, Luo An suddenly rembered sothing and quickly asked:

"Chief, what about that female reporter?"

Vireness was taken aback, then smacked her forehead, almost forgetting the reason she made this call.

Picking up the docunts on the table, Vireness said:

"Luo An, about that interview with the female reporter, you need to agree to it."
