Thursday, 3 p.m., Special Investigation Team’s office area.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Tahveli."
Luo An walked alone into the interrogation room, turned on the surveillance cara, handed a cup of coffee to handcuffed Tahveli, and, smiling, sat down opposite him, asking:
"How’s your head, still clear?"
Previously, Luo An had plunged into the tunnel, knocking Tahveli unconscious with a single punch.
Tahveli, in his sixties, had scant white hair and a very kind face. To the untrained eye, one wouldn’t think him the leader of the Naloya Drug Trafficking Group; he appeared more like a retired old man playing chess in the park.
Now, with his hands cuffed, Tahveli’s expression remained composed as he replied with a light smile:
"Not bad, just a slow recovery. You young people really don’t know how to respect the elderly."
"I always respect ordinary elderly people, but there’s no need to respect a major drug lord."
Luo An didn’t beat around the bush and directly asked about the two undercover agents who had died.
"Oh, those two kids."
Tahveli suddenly rembered, then picked up his coffee and sipped it, smiling:
"To be honest, they were excellent, and I liked them.
But unfortunately, they were unlucky, and the unlucky do not live long, do they?"
Luo An’s expression didn’t change as he continued to inquire:
"When and from where did you find out they were undercover?"
"I don’t know, I forgot."
Tahveli put down his coffee cup, rubbed his temples, and chuckled:
"Your punch earlier was a bit too strong; it made forget a lot."
Tahveli thought this remark would provoke a negative reaction from Luo An, but instead, Luo An suddenly laughed.
"No worries, if you’ve forgotten, let help you rember so other things."
Luo An’s smile was radiant as he opened a folder, taking out two photographs, one of Martin, who had hired an assassin, and another of Tahveli’s younger son, Willoughby, next in line to control the Luo Ya drug trafficking group.
Luo An pushed both photos towards Tahveli, then took out several bank transfer records and call logs, smiling as he said:
"I’ve been wondering, if you hated Lynn Oscar so much, why did you send your subordinate Martin to hire a broker and an assassin to kill soone.
Later, through investigation, I found out that Martin had betrayed you and was working under your son Willoughby."
Previously, Luo An had called Mona, Winslow, and Chenier into his office specifically to investigate and capture Martin.
According to the data rged by the Holand Security Departnt on the internal affairs of the Naloya Drug Trafficking Group and the information sent back by two deceased undercover agents, Willoughby had been dissatisfied with his over-sixty-year-old father for a long ti.
Adding to the investigation by Mona and others, Luo An discovered that Martin was one of the people secretly won over by Willoughby.
Learning that Tahveli had Martin go to murder the Lindens, Willoughby seized the opportunity, having Martin deliberately leave so traces, thereby drawing FBI attention and arresting Tahveli, using this as a ans to usurp power and take command of the Luo Ya drug trafficking group.
For nearly half a year, Willoughby had been in xico, working for the Naloya Drug Trafficking Group, and their joint operation failed to capture him, which ant that Willoughby’s plan had succeeded.
Clap, clap, clap—
Luo An, with a smile, gently clapped a few tis, looking at Tahveli and said:
"Such filial piety is eye-opening."
"..."
Tahveli was silent for a long ti, then suddenly laughed, poured the remaining coffee over the photos of Willoughby and Martin, and then raising his head towards Luo An, said:
"The identities of those two undercover agents, as well as the situation with Linden Osborne, were all inford to by soone inside your FBI.
"I can tell you everything I know, and in exchange, I want a cell with a view of the woods and so peace and quiet."
Tahveli did not ntion a plea deal, partly because the plethora of charges against him would certainly not be alleviated, and partly because he believed that his son Willoughby, who he thinks could outdo him, would definitely develop the Naloya Drug Trafficking Group even better.
"Okay."
Luo An did not reject the small request regarding the cell. Tahveli stated that a while ago, his personal phone suddenly received a call.
The voice on the other end was indistinguishable between male or female, stating that there was an FBI undercover around Tahveli, and if he wanted to know who it was, Tahveli would need to pay 2 million US dollars.
Tahveli was skeptical about this, but he was willing to test it out with 2 million dollars. Accordingly, he followed the caller’s instructions and conducted a transaction.
In the transaction, Tahveli first transferred the money into an overseas account. After the other party received the money, they directed Tahveli’s subordinate to go to a certain city’s airport or train station locker to retrieve docunts revealing the real identity information of the undercover.
Based on a detailed investigation by his subordinates, Tahveli found out that the information provided was authentic. Subsequently, he conducted two more transactions with the informant, paying 2 million and 500 thousand US dollars respectively, to find out another undercover and detailed information on the Linden Osborne family.
Then, the informant who sold the information vanished as if they never existed. Tahveli didn’t care much about it, first ordering his n to kill the two undercovers sent by the Holand Security Departnt, then dispatching Martin to handle the Linden Osborne family.
"Very well."
Luo An carefully recorded Tahveli’s narrative in his notebook, and then intermittently asked certain questions again, repeatedly asking several tis to ensure there were no discrepancies in Tahveli’s story before he finally turned and left the interrogation room.
Just after returning to the office area, Reesi ca over, speaking sternly:
"Luo An, I’ve looked into what you asked to check."
"Good."
Luo An nodded in satisfaction, pulled Reesi into the team leader’s office, and asked:
"What’s the specific situation?"
"Agent Wilder from the Holand Security Departnt, this guy definitely has issues."
Reesi snorted coldly. Previously, when they were at the farm, Luo An had Reesi investigate Agent Wilder’s financial situation. Initially, Reesi found nothing amiss in Agent Wilder’s own bank account or those of his wife and parents.
Subsequently, Reesi had no choice but to use the oldest thod: tailing.
It turned out that so old thods, though ancient, still work effectively.
During the surveillance, Reesi learned that the day before the farm operation began, Agent Wilder’s car had gotten into an accident and was sent to a repair shop.
Agent Wilder later paid the repair shop with non-sequential twenty-dollar bills.
And typically, when Agent Wilder’s car had issues or when making other large transactions, he primarily used credit cards and rarely dealt in large cash transactions.
"Hard work appreciated."
Luo An nodded in satisfaction, then lowered his head to jot down notes for a mont and walked out of the team leader’s office with Reesi, clapping his hands to draw the attention of other agents, and said:
"Everyone, I need you to investigate so things."
"What?"
Michelle, Winslow, and Chenier, who were dealing with the docunts related to the murders of the Linden Osborne family, all looked up puzzled, and Mona also showed a bewildered expression:
"Are there still issues with this case that haven’t been handled?"
Luo An did not offer further explanations, just picked up so snacks from Reesi’s desk, distributing a few packets to everyone, and then distributed so information he had obtained from the interrogation for them to investigate.
Reesi: "..."
While Winslow, Michelle, and others were confused, they still trusted Luo An and carefully started investigating the information each received.
Mona and Michelle quickly completed investigating their respective information and handed the list to Luo An, followed shortly by Chenier and Winslow who also gave Luo An two lists minutes later.
As Luo An was reviewing the four lists, Horst from the Monitoring Departnt suddenly knocked on the door and entered the Special Investigation Team office area, stating that the director was calling for Luo An in his office.
Luo An closed the folder, looking up with a slight smile:
"Perfect, I also have so matters to report to the director."
