Hospital, ward.
With the arrival of Potante Byrne, the team leader, Mona, Winslow, and the other mbers stepped out of the ward and started whispering among themselves in the corridor.
"This ti your Special Investigation Team has really made a big scene."
Potante Byrne entered the ward and was shocked to see Luo An wrapped like half a mummy. After chatting with Luo An and realizing that although he was seriously injured, he was still lucid, he breathed a sigh of relief and said:
"The location of the anti-tank missile explosion is now surrounded by several Los Angeles dia helicopters."
Since the 9/11 incident, the federal public has always been on edge about explosions.
The billowing smoke caused by the anti-tank missile explosion made many people on the streets of Los Angeles suspect that terrorists might have turned their attention to Los Angeles.
Luo An smiled, his voice hoarse:
"I wish that missile hadn’t exploded."
"I feel the sa, but those dia folks probably wish two more missiles would explode."
Potante Byrne poured himself a glass of water and drank it all at once, saying:
"Luo An, you guys have done a great job this ti. Both the Mayor of Los Angeles and the head of the FBI Los Angeles Branch called to praise your Special Investigation Team..."
Potante Byrne was quite emotional and praised Luo An for a while. Then he coughed lightly and said softly:
"A reporter will contact you tomorrow morning for an interview; her father works in the FBI, so you don’t have to worry."
Seeing the look Potante Byrne gave him, Luo An quickly understood and smiled in agreent before asking:
"Chief, the cars in the parking lot..."
Luo An and Chenier exchanged fire with those four people, and many cars parked on the fourth floor of the parking lot were peppered with bullet holes.
Then, the subsequent explosion of the anti-tank missile caused a big hole on the fourth floor directly, a bunch of cars turned into debris, along with cent and bricks falling onto the third floor of the parking lot, destroying a bunch of cars parked there.
The damage to these cars added up to a significant amount.
"...no worries, I’ll handle this matter."
Potante Byrne’s face twitched slightly when Luo An ntioned this.
However, the experienced Potante Byrne wasn’t flustered. Paying out of pocket was out of the question, never in this lifeti. The FBI could help the car owners to contact the insurance companies to hasten their compensation process.
As for those car owners who didn’t buy insurance, that wasn’t the FBI’s problem.
In the thrilling and exciting federal life of freedom and democracy, not insuring your car has nothing to do with federal law enforcent.
The federation treats everyone equally, only so are more equal.
After hearing Potante Byrne’s words, Luo An remained silent, more convinced than ever of his own practice of using public service for personal benefit.
The two continued talking for a while, when Luo An suddenly rembered sothing and said:
"Chief, I’d like to take so ti off."
He was injured now and thought it would be a good opportunity to rest and enjoy so ti away with Mona, experiencing the corrupt and restless capitalist life of the federation.
As for his injuries, Luo An wasn’t worried at all; a few bottles of physical recovery potions would mostly heal him.
"No problem."
Potante Byrne agreed without a second thought since Luo An was injured and needed rest and psychological counseling.
With Christmas approaching and hearing that Luo An hadn’t visited his deceased parents in Boston for a long ti, Potante Byrne generously granted him a six-month leave, allowing him to manage his own ti.
Potante Byrne left the hospital room, and although Luo An Greenwood had been granted half a year of free ti, his face did not show a smile but furrowed his brows in contemplation.
Luo An kept the death of his parents suppressed in his heart, selectively ignored, but today’s words from Potante Byrne had triggered the mories about it in Luo An’s mind.
More than half an hour later, Winslow, Reesi, Chenier, and Michelle left the hospital room one after another. Luo An looked at Mona beside him, who was helping him organize his belongings, and after a few seconds of silence, he ntioned the six-month vacation to her, then said:
"Mona, let’s go to Boston together in a few days."
Running away was never a solution to the problem, and it was also ti to visit Boston with Mona.
Initially, when Mona heard about the six-month vacation from Luo An, she imdiately smiled, happily contemplating how to arrange this period.
But when she later heard Luo An ntion that he wanted to take her to visit his deceased parents, Mona fell silent.
Seeing this, Luo An slightly frowned, reached out to hold Mona, and asked softly:
"What’s wrong?"
"...Nothing, it’s just a bit sudden, I am a bit surprised."
Mona remained silent for a long while, then stood up, moved closer to Luo An, lowered her head and bit Luo An’s lip, whispering:
"I love you, Luo An."
Just as Luo An was about to respond to Mona, he suddenly felt movent below, his eyes slightly narrowed, he whispered:
"Mona, my left leg is broken now, I can’t possibly..."
"It’s okay, you don’t need to move."
Mona bit Luo An’s lip hard again, then stood up from the bed, walked over to the hospital room door, locked it, and drew the curtains...
————
In the following days, Luo An first lay in the hospital bed, receiving interviews from journalists as the group leader Potante Byrne had ntioned.
The female journalist from Los Angeles Tis was very professional and pretty, and during the whole interview process, she never asked any questions that made Luo An uncomfortable or unwilling to answer.
The column article written by the female journalist in the newspaper afterward also perfectly showcased Luo An’s handso and humorous, brave and insightful positive image.
The only problem was the way this female journalist looked at Luo An; if it wasn’t for Mona standing by the door with a cold face, the journalist might have gone ahead to help Luo An change his bandages.
Afterward, the female journalist secretly handed Luo An her business card, but it was torn up by Mona and flushed down the toilet.
Group leader Luo An was hospitalized, but the work of the Special Investigation Team could not stop.
Reesi and Michelle stayed in the Special Investigation Team and seriously handled the subsequent docunts related to the "Navy Officer Disappearance Case."
Chenier and Winslow spent so ti finding the hitman Tom Torres who was covering up the murder.
As everyone expected, Tom Torres committed murder to cover up because he was threatened, Beibetto Holge Vita’s n had captured Tom Torres’s daughter and demanded him to work for them, otherwise, they would kill the girl.
The main participants in the entire case, Tom Torres, Kelly Hunter were sent to temporary prison awaiting trial, while Beibetto Holge Vita and others were all dead and sent to the morgue.
Under Michelle’s leadership, the mbers of the Special Investigation Team took a few days to finish the docunt report, and this case was finally completely concluded.
Luo An, sitting in a wheelchair with his left hand in bandages, returned to the Special Investigation Team, took a folder from the group leader’s office, and motioned Michelle to distribute it to everyone.
The folder contained the bonus of 2000 US Dollars each for the agents after handling the case, as well as a notice signed by Luo An stating that the Special Investigation Team would be on vacation for the next two months.
Reesi cheerfully praised Luo An for being both handso and heartfelt. Michelle was also a bit happy. Winslow and Chenier, who had not been in the Special Investigation Team for long, exchanged glances without saying much.
Previously in that serial murder case, both had received a substantial bonus from Luo An which was significant for them. With Christmas just around the corner, both of them started planning their upcoming vacation.
The next day, the Special Investigation Team officially started their vacation life. Mona, along with Luo An holding a crutch, boarded the plane to Boston together.
