Special Investigation Team, team leader’s office.

"This is Luo An."

After pressing the answer button on his phone, Luo An asked:

"How’s it going, Reesi? Is the operation proceeding smoothly?"

"Of course, the operation is going very well."

Inside a corridor of the Mueller Group in Pleasanton City, through the glass, Reesi saw Jesenia with a grim expression on her face during the eting with the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt and let out a sly chuckle, saying:

"Just as expected, there are issues with Jesenia’s personal financial status as well as with the Mueller Group’s financial managent. The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation has already started preparing to take action."

Thinking about this, Reesi greatly admired Luo An; she knew that Luo An was acquainted with Chief Elr from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, but she had not expected Luo An to actually pull strings to get him to assist.

"Good."

Hearing that the plan was going smoothly, Luo An let out a slight sigh of relief and took the teacup handed to him by Mona before continuing to ask:

"What about John?"

"I’m calling you exactly to talk about his situation."

ntioning John Rodriguez, Reesi glanced at Michelle next to her and whispered:

"He has just successfully established Kara as the legitimate fourth-generation heir of the Mueller Family. Until Kara cos of age, he will temporarily manage the Mueller Family’s shares on her behalf.

Not only that, John has also successfully convinced more than half of the shareholders to appoint him as the president of the Mueller Group for the coming year."

Thinking of John Rodriguez’s threats and inducents, splitting and co-opting, and applying both hard and soft tactics at the shareholder eting, Reesi’s face showed a strange expression:

"Luo An, John truly deserves his reputation as an experienced CIA agent with flexible and strong thods. But wasn’t John taken away by the CIA’s Wan De previously? How did you convince him to release John?"

"I didn’t ask Wan De to release him; I just provided a simple solution."

Hearing about John’s performance at the shareholder eting, Luo An gave a composed smile; he had anticipated this situation.

Passing a chair to Mona, who was using the computer to keep an eye on any developnts in the town, Luo An briefly answered Reesi’s question:

"Wan De was eager to take John away simply because he was worried that during John’s captivity, he might have said sothing he shouldn’t have, which could affect the CIA’s arrangents."

Thus, Luo An briefly outlined Kara’s identity, the situation of the Mueller Group, and the role John could play in this matter.

The Mueller Group is a large conglorate with companies and factories both within and outside the federation; if John took control of this group, the CIA’s options for operations overseas would only increase.

As an old CIA agent, Wan De’s mind was fixated on the size of interests.

Upon confirming that John’s control of the Mueller Group would bring greater benefits to the CIA, Wan De imdiately agreed to Luo An’s request.

Moreover, hearing from Reesi that John was thoroughly familiar with each shareholder’s personality and background at the shareholder eting, Luo An couldn’t help but grin.

He hadn’t provided John with this information, which ant it could have only co from the CIA.

As the actual operator of the tasks, John, of course, would not refuse the requests of Luo An and Wan De.

On one hand, Kara is his biological daughter, and Kara inheriting Old Mueller’s estate is a great matter; on the other hand, John doesn’t have much choice at the mont, as internal audits and investigations within the CIA are neither simple nor pleasant.

The only problem is, as John’s control over the Mueller Group grows, conflicts with the CIA will naturally arise later—dissatisfaction with the CIA’s control, which might even lead to so trouble.

But what does that have to do with Luo An? He hadn’t forced John to do anything he didn’t want to do.

Luo An promoted the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt with financial interests; he persuaded the CIA with the benefit of increased options for future overseas operations; and he moved John with his daughter and freedom.

The Special Investigation Team caught the mastermind behind the case, found the specific assassin, and also acquired several new cars and new equipnt.

In the entire event, apart from mastermind Jesenia and those who worked for her, everyone else was happy.

By leveraging visible interests to drive others, not only would they not bla Luo An, but they would also thank him.

Luo An deepened his relationships with these people, leaving a good impression—simple manipulation, effortless mastery, killing multiple birds with one stone.

"..."x3

After listening to Luo An’s analysis, Reesi stood in the hallway, dumbstruck, drawing in a breath of cold air.

Mona, at Luo An’s side, first showed a look of astonishnt upon hearing his words, then a bit of shock, and afterwards her cheeks gradually flushed, her breathing quickening as she looked at Luo An’s profile.

This is precisely the kind of strategizing Luo An she liked.

Michelle’s eyes widened; she realized that she had still underestimated Luo An’s intelligence and tactics.

Moreover, Michelle noticed so things that Luo An did not ntion, and that Reesi and Mona had not discovered:

This ti, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt made a substantial gain from Jesenia and the Mueller Group, and when Luo An goes back to the Washington Headquarters, he would certainly receive affirmation and support from the IRS side, increasing his chances of becoming a permanent employee.

Similarly, due to the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt, it’s inevitable that there will be unrest within the Mueller Group.

However, as Jesenia was the instigator of the investigation, John could use this opportunity to eliminate his opposition and take control of the Mueller Group even faster, sothing the CIA would be more than pleased with.

Therefore, as long as Luo An asked, the CIA would definitely not stint on supporting Luo An’s move to permanent status.

Luo An possesses extraordinary intelligence, agile skills, understands how to play office politics, and also has powerful backing and support.

The only obstacles preventing him from becoming the head of the Special Investigation Team were his age and experience—these two mountains.

After all, Luo An’s promotion speed has been too fast, and none of the other nine Special Investigation Team leaders were under the age of thirty.

But now with Vireness and Clent as his strong supporters, approval from the CIA, recomndations from the IRS side...

Michelle swallowed and made up her mind, if Luo An’s trip to Washington still doesn’t result in his becoming permanent head of the Special Investigation Team, then she’ll never look at a book again in her life.

Michelle quietly made a resolution, she would stay in this Special Investigation Team from now on, unless Luo An asked her to leave, no one else could pull her away!

Luo An gently pinched Mona’s face, ignoring the glow in her eyes, smiled and briefly instructed Reesi over the phone before hanging up, and then he received the call from the SWAT team leader about the operation in the southern town of Pleasanton City, capturing the assassin Kendrick:

"The mission was a complete success, SWAT team mbers were unhard, target sustained gunshot wounds to the leg and abdon, and has been sent to the hospital for treatnt."

"Great work, everyone!"

Luo An smiled slightly, inquired about the operation’s process and details, and then arranged a ti to have drinks together with the SWAT team leader, before hanging up the phone again.

Tossing his phone aside, Luo An stretched vigorously, loudly expressing:

"This damn case is finally over!"

Smack—

The next second, before Luo An could retract his arms, Mona suddenly plopped down onto his lap, at the sa ti pulling out a tie and lightly binding Luo An’s wrists.

Feeling his hands being controlled, and looking at the charming face of Mona close at hand, Luo An’s mouth curved in a smile:

"Hey, this is an office, you’ve said before that the office is only a place for work."

"This is your team leader’s office, not our work area.

Besides, as long as we don’t do that last step, it’s all fine."

Mona bit her red lip, smiled slightly, took hold of Luo An’s head and leaned in to kiss him.
