Southern Los Angeles Airport, an ordinary room in a community.
Upon hearing Luo An's words, Reesi imdiately entered the bathroom and followed his gaze to a painting hanging on the wall.
It was a very common landscape painting, but what caught the eye was that the painting was slightly concaved inward.
Reesi gave Luo An a thumbs up, lifted the painting, and a black dial lock safe appeared before them.
"A big surprise."
Reesi casually tossed the painting aside, Luo An stepped forward and knocked on the safe, then turned to ask:
"Should we call soone from the Trace Evidence Departnt to unwrap this gift?"
"OK."
Reesi took out his phone to contact an agent from the Trace Evidence Departnt, and while waiting for their arrival, Luo An called Michelle:
"How's your investigation going over there?"
"I've found the black Buick sedan that drug user Dagney Mosses ntioned in a surveillance cara at the south side of Allen's house in the villa community."
There was a sigh from Michelle on the other end of the call:
"But unfortunately, that black Buick used another person's license plate, and the real owner of the plate has been at work all along."
Luo An frowned slightly upon hearing this:
"Can the driver's appearance be made out in the surveillance footage?"
"It's unclear."
Michelle manipulated the mouse to zoom in on the surveillance footage:
"However, with Mona's help, I managed to improve the quality of the image recorded by the surveillance caras a bit. In that black Buick, there's a driver in front and another person sitting in the backseat."
"It seems to be gang cri."
Luo An nodded, pondered for a few seconds, and added:
"Continue to track that Buick and see where it was last spotted."
"No problem."
Not long after hanging up, the agent from the Trace Evidence Departnt arrived, and after a few minutes, they successfully opened the old-fashioned dial lock safe with professional equipnt.
"Impressive!"
Luo An grinned, giving a thumbs up to the agent from the Trace Evidence Departnt, then looked at the professional tools in their hand with a sparkling light in his eyes, as if pondering sothing.
"Thank you, it was tough work."
Reesi thanked the agent from the Trace Evidence Departnt, who had opened the safe door revealing only a locked tal box inside.
This box naturally did not require the assistance of the Trace Evidence Departnt's agent; Luo An stepped forward and in just over ten seconds... removed the lock from the box.
"..." x2
Both Reesi and the agent from the Trace Evidence Departnt were speechless as they watched the lock being tossed aside, while Luo An, unconcerned with their expressions, imdiately opened the tal box after removing the lock.
The tal box didn't contain much, besides several bundles adding up to around 70,000 US Dollars, a 9mm handgun loaded with bullets, there were also 5 different social security cards, driver's licenses, and passports.
The nas were all different, but the face was the sa on every one of them, all of them John Rodriguez.
"Wow, looks like we've found Mr. Spy."
After a careful examination of the driver's licenses and passports, Reesi found they did not seem to be forged, and upon seeing this, Luo An imdiately took out his phone and called Mona:
"Mona, sorry to trouble you, but could you check the authenticity of these docunts?"
Based on the docunt numbers Reesi recited over the phone, Mona's fingers danced across the computer keyboard, quickly finding the information on these docunts:
"Unfortunately, these docunts are all real, and they've all been issued by the Federation Governnt."
"Not a very surprising piece of news."
Luo An sat down on the living room sofa, and asked:
"Which one is our Mr. John's true identity then?"
"John Rodriguez, that is his real identity."
Mona on the other end of the phone looked at the information on the computer and answered:
"I found his birth certificate, childhood photos, and dical insurance information under this na."
"This news is indeed a bit surprising."
Luo An raised his eyebrows, and Reesi asked imdiately:
"So, who exactly is John Rodriguez? A spy? An operative?"
Mona handed her phone to Michelle:
"I don't know, Michelle is checking into it."
"The National Security Bureau and the Departnt of Holand Security have both gotten back to , they say John is not their agent."
Michelle put down the landline phone she was holding, and was about to speak when another landline phone suddenly rang.
After answering the call, Michelle nodded and replied for a few monts, then covered the phone and spoke into Mona's phone:
"The CIA says John is one of their senior operatives and requests that our Special Investigation Team imdiately stop all current investigative activities."
"Those damn ddlers again!"
Upon hearing Michelle's words, both Mona and Reesi rolled their eyes in unison.
Hearing this, Luo An glared at Reesi, blurted out without thinking; if the CIA are ddlers, then what are we?
After a second of silence, Luo An said sternly into the phone:
"Michelle, tell those CIA people that our operation can't possibly be stopped. If they have requests, let them co to and discuss it in person.
Also, briefly inform them of John's current unaccounted-for status, and demand his details from them.
If they refuse, any issues that arise with John and Kara during this period will be entirely the CIA's responsibility."
Michelle promptly repeated Luo An's words to the other party, while Mona, holding the phone, had admiration flashing in her eyes - she liked this authoritative side of Luo An.
Reesi and the forensic agent both gave Luo An thumbs up upon hearing what was said.
Seconds later, Michelle spoke again:
"Deputy team leader Luo An, John's superior is asking about your current location, he wants to et with you in person to discuss this matter."
As Michelle finished speaking, Mona and Reesi, despite the distance, simultaneously revealed beautiful smiles.
Luo An's expression remained unchanged, glancing at the room which had been thoroughly searched revealing nothing of use, and said:
"No need to co here, directly go to our Special Investigation Team's office, Reesi and I will head back right now."
————
Half an hour later, in the Special Investigation Team's conference room.
"John is one of our most capable agents working in the South Arica region."
John's superior was an old Caucasian man with a stern face, dressed in a black suit, nad Wan De.
He was sitting with one leg crossed over the other, expressionless as he looked at Luo An:
"His retirent back to the Federation for his family was a significant loss for us."
Seeing that the other party kept a cold face looking at him, Luo An's expression also cooled down, and he asked expressionlessly:
"So, is John no longer an active operative?"
"He is currently mainly in charge of managerial duties."
Wan De countered:
"Why are you investigating John this ti?"
Luo An didn't answer but gave Reesi a look.
Seeing the cue, Reesi imdiately played the recording of John's conversation after getting off the plane with his wife, Allen.
After the recording finished playing, Luo An said coldly:
"John's daughter has been kidnapped, it's not hard to hear from the recording that John had contact with the kidnapper, and even knew who the kidnapper was.
As John's superior, do you have any thoughts on this?"
After listening to the recording, Wan De's gaze quickly turned somber, he pondered for a few seconds and said:
"I should know who they are, most likely a group from South Arica seeking revenge on John."
Luo An leaned back with one leg crossed over the other:
"Can you elaborate?"
