Three hours later, in the office area of the Special Investigation Team.
"Luo An, the bullet that killed nanny Samira at the cri scene, the test report has co out."
Reesi pushed open the door and walked into the office area, carelessly tossing a folder aside, she said helplessly:
"The most common 9mm bullets on the market, but there's no match found in the FBI internal system; it's a newly erged gun."
"Good, we've ruled out a useless lead."
Luo An handed Reesi a cup of coffee and turned to look at Mona and Michelle:
"How's your investigation going?"
"We've checked everyone in the area near the cri scene with a history of sexual assault."
Michelle shook her head:
"That area is part of the affluent district; such people are few, and they all have alibis at the ti of the incident."
Luo An took a sip from his teacup:
"Good, we've excluded another useless lead."
Sitting in the chair, the look on Reesi's face was full of speechlessness when she heard this:
"But the key problem is, we haven't found any useful leads until now."
"No, now we have a useful lead."
Before Luo An could speak, Mona suddenly raised her hand:
"The Trace Examination Departnt found a third person's fingerprint on the back door handle, aside from Madeline Allen and nanny Samira's prints."
Luo An and Reesi imdiately leaned in:
"Who is it?"
"Dagney Mosses."
Mona typed away at the keyboard, pulling up an image of a gaunt, gloomy-looking Caucasian woman:
"She is nanny Samira's cousin once removed; a few months ago, she went to jail for theft, and she had even stolen jewelry from Madeline Allen's house."
"A female thief."
Looking at the face in the photo, Luo An asked:
"Does this woman have a criminal record?"
"Yes, quite a few."
Mona brought up the person's criminal record on the computer desktop:
"One count of illegal gun possession, several counts of assault, multiple thefts, possession of a controlled substance, trafficking controlled substances, and other charges."
Looking at Dagney Mosses' photo from her most recent jail ti, the acne on her face, and the multitude of marks on her arms, a look of disgust appeared on Reesi's face:
"Seems like we've got another drug addict."
The previous case, where Polly sold her own son for drug money and did not care at all whether her son lived or died, had indeed left a profound impression on them. (Chapter 256)
"If she was desperate enough for money, kidnapping her cousin's employer's daughter is indeed a good strategy."
Luo An finished the remaining tea in his cup, and asked:
"Do we know where this jailbird lady is right now?"
"Of course."
Mona brought up an address:
"This is the house of an aunt of nanny Samira, who is nearly eighty years old this year.
The old lady is also Dagney Mosses' aunt, and she mostly freeloading there, for food and lodging."
"Reesi, contact the SWAT."
Without any further ado, Luo An imdiately got up and walked towards the equipnt room:
"Have them send a squad to join us at the old lady's house, to exterminate a pest."
"No problem!"
Reesi raised her hand to make an "OK" gesture, and imdiately took out her phone to make a call.
————
In a normal community in South Los Angeles, outside a reddish-brown bungalow.
A nondescript black sedan slowly pulled up opposite a neighbor's house across from the bungalow.
Monts later, the car window rolled down slowly, and a dark barrel of a gun stretched out from inside the car, aiming directly at the reddish-brown house.
The SWAT mber closely watching through the sniper scope opened the communicator and said in a low voice:
"Arrived at the designated position, please instruct."
"Received, please stand by."
In a pitch-black troop transport vehicle at the back door of the reddish-brown bungalow, Luo An shut off the communicator and looked up at the other SWAT mbers in the vehicle, saying sternly:
"Gents, we must minimize noise during this operation. If we alert the suspect, she may very well harm the child.
Additionally, our primary objective is the child, so we must control the suspect imdiately, ensuring she has no chance to make contact with the child, OK?"
"Understood!"
Reesi and a group of SWAT mbers nodded together, all assenting to the instructions.
The Federation is a very two-faced nation. On one hand, it highly values children's rights, treating them as little angels fallen to earth, while on the other hand, cris against children within the Federation also rank high among countries worldwide...
Just then, Luo An's communicator suddenly lit up with the voice of the sniper from inside the car:
"I see the target Dagney Mosses, she is right now in the front hall of the house, together with an elderly woman."
"Good."
Luo An cut the chitchat, pulled out his Glock 18 and disengaged the safety, and said coldly:
"Comnce the operation!"
As his words fell, a group of SWAT mbers split into two teams, following Luo An and Reesi slowly approaching the reddish-brown bungalow.
The two teams, one on the left and the other on the right, gradually neared the reddish-brown bungalow. The team led by Reesi bent down, coming to a stop by a certain bedroom of the bungalow.
A SWAT mber stepped forward, cautiously peered into the bedroom, and said in a low voice:
"The room is empty."
Reesi wasted no words:
"Enter imdiately!"
On the other side, Luo An was leading a few SWAT mbers to the back door of the bungalow. One of the SWAT mbers imdiately ca forward and quietly unlocked the back door.
At that mont, the communicator suddenly emitted the sniper's voice:
"Everyone, Dagney Mosses is leaving the living room, heading towards the kitchen."
Upon hearing this, Reesi imdiately led the SWAT mbers to rush into the interior of the house and appeared abruptly in front of Dagney Mosses:
"Freeze! Put your hands up!"
The sudden appearance of Reesi and two SWAT mbers startled Dagney Mosses considerably. After reflexively raising her hands, Dagney Mosses suddenly pushed the elderly woman next to her towards them and turned to run.
"Fu-k!"
Reesi and a SWAT mber quickly reached out to catch the elderly woman, while another SWAT mber quickly chased after Dagney Mosses with his gun raised.
The direction in which Dagney Mosses fled was not towards the front or back doors of the house, but another bedroom not far away.
But just as she reached the bedroom doorway, Luo An suddenly appeared around the corner, launching a kick into Dagney Mosses' waist.
Bam—
Dagney Mosses had no ti to react and fell to the ground. By the ti she looked up with a pained expression, clutching her waist, a SWAT mber behind Luo An had already pulled out handcuffs and cuffed Dagney Mosses' hands.
"Son of a! Eating! Dogshit! You bunch of *#%¥..."
Choosing to ignore the stream of curse words erupting from Dagney Mosses' mouth, Luo An entered the bedroom for a quick search. He didn't find the young girl but only found two small bags of flour and a few packets of leaves.
Luo An nodded knowingly; it seed that Dagney Mosses wasn't trying to escape but was intending to quickly throw these items into the toilet to destroy them.
Elsewhere, Reesi led the remaining SWAT mbers to quickly check every room in the house, and soon his expression turned quite grim.
Because they only found a 9mm handgun in the basent and not a trace of the young girl Kara.
————
The ninth hour after Kara's disappearance, at the Special Investigation Team's offices.
"The 9mm handgun that was found has been sent to the trace examination section for testing, and the results will soon be available."
Reesi pushed open the door walking into the investigation team's office area, seeing only Mona, she gestured towards the interrogation room:
"Luo An and Michelle have started the interrogation?"
"That's right."
Mona glanced at the ti:
"They've just been in there for five minutes."
Reesi looked towards the interrogation room, lost in thought.
At this mont inside the interrogation room, suddenly a burst of a woman's sowhat licentious laughter echoed.
