After a busy day and when it was ti to knock off, the following morning, Luo An and Reesi walked into Queens St. John Hospital together.
Inside a certain hospital room, the two successfully encountered a middle-aged Caucasian man lying in bed covered with a blanket, with tubes in his nose, looking sowhat dejected, but his appearance quite fit the Western aesthetic.
When Luo An and Reesi entered, Matthew Ethan was flirting with a female nurse.
Displaying their golden FBI badges, they shooed the enamored nurse out of the room, Reesi's face full of disdain:
"Good morning, Matthew Ethan. You really are popular with the ladies."
"Is it my fault that I have the looks of a lady killer?"
Matthew Ethan chuckled indifferently, eyed Reesi and Luo An carefully for a few seconds, and then his eyes lit up.
Luo An's brows furrowed slightly, according to the records, Matthew Ethan didn't discriminate between n and won; he only cared if soone was attractive or not.
Not wanting to waste words with this guy, Luo An pulled out a pair of handcuffs from behind and directly cuffed Matthew Ethan's right hand to the hospital bed:
"Congratulations, Matthew Ethan, you are under arrest.
The charge is that you knew you were infected with AIDS, but you did not inform your sexual partners and engaged in unprotected sexual activities with them."
"What?"
Seeing himself being handcuffed by Luo An, Matthew Ethan, lying on the hospital bed, was instantly taken aback and then yelled loudly:
"How can you say I knew I had AIDS? I didn't know anything about it! I'm innocent! I am the victim!"
"Don't bother with such easily debunked lies. We've found your old credit card records which show that you had been tested for AIDS at a hospital."
Reesi giggled upon hearing this, while Luo An pulled out Matthew Ethan's dical records from the pocket in front of his bed, and said indifferently:
"Moreover, your dical record shows that you were hospitalized this ti for pneumocystis infection, which is a common form of pneumonia in AIDS patients.
How do you feel now, not so good, right?"
"Fu-k, are you FBI really so idle now?"
After listening to Luo An's words, Matthew Ethan beca very irritated:
"I don't care, you can't tell more people about this. Federal law rules, this is my right to privacy."
"That depends on your cooperation. Federal law requires citizens to answer questions from federal agents."
Luo An raised his eyebrows, turned to look at Reesi, who imdiately pulled out a little notebook from behind and asked:
"Matthew Ethan, have you encountered any special situations in the past two days?"
"I'm soone who goes out to have fun every night, but for the past two days, I've been lying here in the hospital, does that count as a special situation?"
Matthew Ethan retorted Reesi very unhappily, then turned to look at Luo An:
"What exactly do you want?"
Luo An did not explain Dr. Flavia Fran's situation to Matthew Ethan, but simply stated:
"According to reliable information we have received, due to your promiscuity leading to several infected with AIDS.
One of these AIDS-infected individuals has already co looking for revenge with a knife."
"Son of a b*itch!"
Matthew Ethan's face changed dramatically, although dying from AIDS ant he could still live a while longer, he was not ready to be killed with a knife.
His mind quickly working, Matthew Ethan seriously recalled the past couple of days' events and suddenly realized sothing, he looked up anxiously and said:
"Last night, I left the hospital room to get so air for a few minutes, then I returned here with two nurses."
When the three of us reached the door of the ward, we found a man standing in front of my bed, looking through my dical records.
We asked him who he was, and the guy said he had walked into the wrong room, then left without waiting for us to continue talking."
Matthew Ethan, speaking of this, couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine, because now that he thought carefully about the scene, he realized that sothing seed to be hidden in the man's pocket, which, from its shape, looked very much like a dagger.
Not only that, but the man's gaze when he spoke was sowhat off.
Exchanging a glance with Luo An, Reesi imdiately raised her notebook:
"Describe that guy's appearance."
"He's Caucasian, very skinny, and looks quite young, in his twenties..."
Matthew Ethan hurriedly described the man's appearance, and then said with urgent pleas:
"Agent sir! Agent miss! You have to assign soone to protect later! I feel like the hospital isn't very safe!"
The image of the man described by Matthew Ethan was almost identical to the appearance of the man riding a bicycle in the surveillance footage from yesterday.
"Relax, Matthew Ethan, if you feel unsafe at the hospital, then we can transfer you to soplace more secure, like a jail, which is definitely safe!"
After exchanging a look with Reesi, Luo An chuckled and didn't bother with this selfish fellow who lacked a sense of public duty. Ignoring the pleas, he stood up and left the ward.
However, that said, two SWAT officers who had been notified in advance to co still took their seats outside the door of this ward.
The surveillance facilities at St. John Hospital were quite comprehensive, with many caras installed in the corridors.
Pulling out his golden FBI badge to authenticate his identity, Luo An asked the person in charge of the hospital's surveillance room to retrieve last night's footage, quickly finding the image of the Caucasian youth.
The man wore a cap, constantly pulling the brim down as he walked, but when going down the stairs at a corner to avoid two patients coming from the opposite direction, the surveillance cara managed to capture his face.
"Good."
Luo An briefly expressed his gratitude to the person responsible for the surveillance, then took the recordings back to Investigation Team Five and asked:
"What do you think, can we find this guy through the facial recognition system?"
William and other technical agents took snapshots of the video footage, tapping away on their keyboards for a while before looking troubled:
"Sorry, we can't find this guy in the facial recognition system."
Luo An's expression remained unchanged. The records in the federal facial recognition system were all of individuals who had ssed up, and the young Caucasian man in the footage might not have a criminal record.
Turning to Mona, Luo An continued to inquire:
"What about the files on those who have been infected with AIDS? Is there anyone who matches this guy's face?"
"Also no."
The sound of rapid typing filled the room as Mona, frowning slightly while looking at the data on her computer, comnted:
"Not only is there no match among those who are infected with AIDS in these two files, but there is also no match for this Caucasian youth in the additional individuals we checked who are infected with AIDS."
"What?"
Upon hearing this, the expressions of both Laid [Lydon] and Reesi darkened with confusion:
"Could it be that we've got the direction of our investigation wrong? For example, this guy may not have killed Dr. Flavia Fran because of AIDS."
Lydon [Laid] scratched his head:
"But he still went looking for Matthew Ethan, how do you explain that?"
Luo An didn't answer Reesi's question but picked up the folder containing personal information of AIDS patients, sat down in a chair, and began flipping through it seriously. After a long silence, he suddenly threw it onto the table and spoke loudly:
"Everyone, from now on, start checking the families and friends of these AIDS-infected patients!
This young Caucasian man's killing of Dr. Flavia Fran, as well as his attempt to find and kill Matthew Ethan at the hospital, is likely not for himself!"
