Upon hearing that Augustus was looking for him and seeing the odd expression on Mona's face, Luo An's expression stiffened slightly.
He thought of the SUV he had just accidentally damaged the front end of using the Arican-style vehicle interception technique.
Just then, Reesi returned to Investigation Team Five.
Luo An's eyes lit up, and he asked:
"How did it go, Reesi? Did you catch that bank employee?"
"Of course!"
Reesi took a big gulp of coffee and explained with a smile:
"That guy was very timid, I barely scared him a bit and he spilled everything.
That guy is an informant bought by Lillany Keller with money. Normally, there's nothing to report, but as soon as soone starts investigating the financial condition of that costics company, he would imdiately call Lillany Keller."
All the agents suddenly understood, and Luo An nodded, realizing why Lillany Keller had previously fled in panic.
After thinking for a while, Luo An turned to everyone and said:
"Ladies and gentlen, we must learn from this experience.
In the future, during similar operations, we must always monitor the communication of the target person and those around them."
"Exactly!"
"You're right!"
Upon hearing this, all the agents nodded solemnly, and technical personnel like William even patted their chests, assuring that they would pay more attention to these aspects in the future.
Satisfied, Luo An nodded, then casually took the investigation docunts from Reesi's hand and calmly entered the team leader's office.
"Good day, Chief."
Upon entering the team leader's office, besides Augustus, there was a middle-aged Caucasian man in a gray pinstripe suit.
Nodding and greeting, Luo An handed the folder to Augustus, then said with a smile:
"Chief, both suspects have been brought back, and the mole has been dealt with; today's operation was a complete success."
"..."
Taking the folder, Augustus's mouth twitched as he looked at Luo An's face with an innocent smile, as if he was completely unaware of what had happened.
The SUV waiting for repairs in the garage would still require Augustus's own money, a clear reminder that one doesn't understand the value of things until they pay for them.
However, Augustus quickly set the matter aside, since the SUV's condition wasn't too serious, and the funds for Investigation Team Five could cover the costs.
"This is our Investigation Team Five's senior agent, Luo An Greenwood."
Placing the folder on the desk, Augustus introduced with a smile:
"And this is the leader of the senior investigative team from the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt."
"Pleased to et you, Agent Luo An."
The unremarkable middle-aged man smiled and extended his hand to Luo An:
"Just call Elr."
"Hello, Chief Elr."
Acknowledging Elr's position, Luo An respectfully quickened to shake his hand.
The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, or IRS-CI, is a departnt that's the stuff of nightmares for countless federal citizens.
The terror is simple; ordinary investigators within the IRS handle tax fraud and evasion, while the Criminal Investigation Departnt is responsible for financial cris.
Among the throngs of tax evaders within federal borders, aside from the ordinary wealthy, there are also conglorates, big corporations, and vast financial groups.
And these are the primary targets of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation.
According to the federal constitution, the Federation Governnt has the right to tax all sources of inco of federal citizens.
"Everything originates," not only includes ordinary legal inco but also encompasses a heap of illegal activities such as smuggling, money laundering, robbery, trafficking, etc.
But people who often engage in these blue-ocean industries tend not to be enthusiastic about paying taxes.
Therefore, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Departnt often chooses to use physical ans to collect taxes.
During the process of using physical ans, not to ntion weapons, the special agents of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation can forcibly enter and arrest without permission; disregard Miranda warnings; ignore confidentiality laws, entitled to access all other law enforcent departnts' internal information; suspects don't have the right to remain silent, and so on.
The most outrageous part is that the departnt can first arrest people and then search for evidence.
Thinking of this, Luo An cast a subtle glance at Augustus.
He hadn't expected the other party to be able to bring over the head of this departnt to handle the Canas money laundering case.
But that was just as well. Previously Luo An was pondering how likely it was for Canas, a wealthy man, to extricate himself from this case.
However, now Luo An was not worried at all. With IRS-CI's attention on Canas, his carefree life was already on a countdown.
"I've heard of you, Luo An. Ever since you joined Team No. 5, the team's case clearance rate has skyrocketed."
Withdrawing his hand, Elr scrutinized Luo An up and down, his eyes revealing admiration, and asked with a smile:
"What do you say, are you interested in working under ?"
Upon hearing this, before Luo An could react, Augustus suddenly widened his eyes and stood up:
"Hey! Elr, I've already brought you a gift today; don't go too far!"
Augustus and Elr, when they were younger, had worked together in a departnt in New York for a long ti and were very familiar with each other.
"To be honest, Augustus, I feel soone with Luo An's talent is sowhat wasted on your team."
Elr's smile remained unchanged, no leader dislikes talent, especially leaders like him who are engaged in a continuous battle of wits with the wealthy.
Elr had glanced over Luo An's information before coming here, and he took a liking to this intelligent senior FBI agent.
To Elr, high intelligence was far more important than good physical skills, plus Luo An had solved so many cases in a short ti.
So Elr chose to ignore Augustus's dissatisfaction, smilingly saying to Luo An:
"If you co over to my side, I can assure you that your rank won't change, you will still be a senior agent!"
That was a substantial offer.
"Thank you for your appreciation, Chief."
Glancing at Augustus standing beside him, Luo An smiled and replied:
"But I prefer solving cases. Both the team leader and the unit chief take good care of , and the FBI's work and life are more suitable for ."
Luo An wouldn't impulsively switch to the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division.
The job there is the true definition of high turnover and high efficiency, with the real goal being to initiate and close cases as quickly as possible to secure taxes.
Moreover, among the many law enforcent agencies within the Federation, IRS employees endure the highest work pressure, and they have the highest turnover and cri rates.
Luo An's life goal was to solve cases, earn money, enjoy life, not to be a part of a 996 workforce battleground.
"Hahaha..."
Satisfied with the response, Augustus laughed heartily, erged from behind his desk, and proudly patted Elr on the shoulder.
"Alright then."
Elr, though rejected, was not upset; his smile remained unchanged, and he pulled a business card from his pocket and handed it to Luo An:
"Take it. If you change your mind later on, you can dial this number."
After speaking, Elr patted Luo An on the shoulder, then left the team leader's office carrying a folder. Before departing, he didn't forget to look back and add:
"By the way, Augustus, rember to send all the information related to the Canas money laundering case!"
"No problem!"
Augustus waved his hand in agreent, sat back in his chair, idly tossed the SUV repair docunts aside, handed two other folders to Luo An, and said with a smile:
"Take a look."
