Jody and the others, who had been busy all night, were about to find a place to sleep when they suddenly received new information:

Luo An successfully beca a formal agent and received a total reward of US$ 55,000 for solving the case and capturing the murderer, which will be distributed along with Luo An's salary this weekend.

If this news made male agents like Jody green with envy and discontent, then the next piece of news made female agents like Alina unable to hold back:

At Luo An's strong request, group leader number five, Augustus, also made Mona a formal agent and transferred her into investigation team number five.

And Mona's share was also part of that US$ 55,000.

"Fu-k!"

"bi-ch!"

"*****"

"We're all two-legged creatures; what's the difference between and Mona?"

Compared to n, the infighting among won was even more intense and terrifying.

...

Luo An was unaware of the trainee agents' ntality, including Jody's. After chatting with Augustus in the office area of investigation team number five and finally finishing work, Luo An bid farewell to Mona and took a taxi back to the small apartnt he had rented in Queens in his forr life.

A kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room; Luo An glanced around briefly. The apartnt was a bit ssy, with laundry scattered all over the floor, and the air was filled with a musty odor that any young man would recognize from a dormitory.

Searching briefly, Luo An found the source of the sll—unwashed stinky socks under the sofa.

"Good thing I didn't invite Mona over to my place."

Lanting his predecessor's lack of attention to detail, Luo An opened the windows to keep the air circulating in the room and then started... to search for important items belonging to his forr self, without tidying up the room.

The reason was simple: Luo An didn't plan to live in this apartnt because, in addition to the apartnt being too far from work and himself having to get up early to take the subway without a car, there was another important reason—this apartnt's lease was due in two days.

Walking into the bedroom, Luo An found an old computer with a really big butt that had been left on for a long ti. After a quick search that didn't yield the information he wanted, he got up and searched under the bed, finally finding sothing that was very important to his predecessor: a passbook!

Seeing the substantial amount of five hundred dollars in it, Luo An expressionlessly tucked it into his pocket.

Any amount of money was substantial; the old assassin had once warned Luo An:

Don't underestimate every penny, as sotis a life can't even be sold for a penny.

After carefully checking around the house and his mories to make sure nothing was overlooked, Luo An called the landlord and then left the apartnt.

From that mont on, Luo An-Greenwood would simply be Luo An-Greenwood.

At the Naisewoson Hotel in the Manhattan District, Luo An took a quick shower, didn't call the female attendant, and lay on the bed ready to sleep.

It was his first day after crossing over, and he felt sowhat out of sorts, plus having run around all day, Luo An really wasn't in the mood for a ga for two.

After a while, Luo An, who had already fallen asleep, suddenly heard a "buzz" next to his ear, and before he could react, a familiar pale blue screen appeared once again before his eyes.

"..."

Luo An glanced at the ti: midnight.

"So the treasure chest refreshes every day at 12 o'clock, huh."

Stretching lazily, Luo An yawned and started checking the system page.

[Performance evaluation of yesterday: Good]

[Number of treasure chests obtained: Three]

[Do you want to open the treasure chests?]

"...Open."

Seeing the word "Good" in the evaluation, Luo An's eyes lit up, reasoning that if there was "Good," there must also be "Excellent."

But then he thought, hopefully, there isn't a "Pass" or "Fail" as well.

[Treasure Chest Unlocked]

[Stamina Potion ×1. Fire-Resistant Potion ×1. Night Vision Potion ×1.]

Upon seeing the three potions rolled out on the pale blue system page, Luo An thought of the hemostatic potion he used on the suspender-wearing girl during the day.

The effect was imdiate, potentially life-saving during crucial monts.

However...

As he put his pillow down and lay back again, Luo An closed his eyes and murmured to himself:

"Why do I feel like these potions are more suited for walking down the path of an assassin..."

...

The next morning at eight o'clock, Luo An walked into the office area of Investigation Team 5 on the 23rd floor of the Jacob Federation Building, carrying a large amount of breakfast.

As ntioned before, floors 23-26 of the Jacob Federal Office Building in the Manhattan District are the territory of the FBI New York Branch.

These four floors are occupied by several major departnts of the FBI New York Division, including Holand Security Departnt, Cri-Network-Response and Service Departnt, Science and Technology Departnt, Intelligence Departnt, Information and Technology Processing Departnt, Human Resources Departnt, etc.

Under the Cri-Network-Response and Service Departnt, there are five main divisions: Criminal Investigation Departnt, Major Incident Response Team, Cyber Division, International Business Departnt, and Victim Services Departnt.

Within the Major Incident Response Team, there are many well-known units such as the Hostage Rescue Team - HRT, Special Weapons and Tactics Team - SWAT, Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Team - CUN, Behavioral Analysis Unit - BAU, and finally the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Unit.

Of course, these departnts have nothing to do with Luo An. The Investigation Team 5 he is visiting today is part of the Criminal Investigation Departnt and is one of the thirteen investigation teams under it.

Don't ask why there are thirteen investigation teams, it's just New York being New York.

The team leader, Vireness, oversees Investigation Teams 1 through 5, while teams starting with number 6 onwards are managed by other team leaders.

The specific work scope of these investigation teams is broad, including mass killings, sniper murders, serial killings, gangs, cris against children, human trafficking/involuntary slavery, bank robberies, jewelry and gem thefts, and international violent cris – they are all within their purview.

"Good morning, Agent Sir."

As Luo An entered the office area of Investigation Team 5, he found only one person in the room - a Caucasian hulk of a man not less than 1.9 ters tall, with a buzz cut, whose muscles looked as if they could burst out of his suit.

Hearing soone address him, the muscular Caucasian shifted his gaze from the computer, turned his head to see the exceptionally good-looking Luo An, and broke into a big, toothy smile:

"It seems you're the Luo An Augustus was talking about!"

"That's ."

Luo An gave a breakfast portion to him and asked with a smile:

"What exactly did Augustus say about ?"

The muscular man took the breakfast, not standing on ceremony, bit off a big chunk, and said with a muffled laugh:

"Augustus told us that Luo An, not only are you as handso as him, but your brain is nearly on par with his too. However, your skills are not as good, so he hopes that we could go easy on you, not bully you and look after you more during missions."

Luo An: "..."

Seeing the stiff expression on Luo An's face, the muscular man quickly finished his breakfast and said:

"Don't worry, everyone in Investigation Team 5 knows about how you fought ten people single-handedly and cracked a case in eight hours yesterday; no one will be foolish enough to bully you."

"No, I'm not afraid of being bullied."

Luo An shook his head, spreading his hands:

"I was just wondering, after Augustus's promotion, what do those people who have not seen but have seen Augustus think I look like in their minds?"

Hearing that, the burly man laughed heartily and slapped Luo An's shoulder, saying:

"My na is Ledly Smith. I'm a senior agent of Investigation Team 5. From here on out, just call Led."

After saying that, Led grabbed the bag containing breakfast and proceeded to pull out three more packs of breakfast to start eating again.

Luo An: "..."
