Broken quickly scanned the items listed in the Reputation Shop, and he felt quite drawn to everything in the Advanced category, even though it had fewer options than the others. What really caught his attention was the blueprint. Its price was steep-300 points. Whether that was high or not, he couldn't say for sure, since he only had 150 points at the mont. "Most of these items don't give much detail about what they actually are," he muttered. "Like this Epic Artifact Fragnt-what artifact? Or this skill scroll. It doesn't even specify the skill; it's basically a gacha. You could get sothing great or sothing totally disappointing."
"Why don't you try buying one item and see what you get?"
"Good idea."
Broken considered his options, deciding to pick sothing within his current budget. He settled on a cheaper item among the available choices.
He selected it and confird the purchase.
[You have spent 75 Reputation Points to purchase a Talent Scroll (Common)]
[You have obtained 1 Talent Scroll (Common).]
A scroll materialized in his hand.
He chose the Talent Scroll with a Common grade, the item that seed the most intriguing, even if its rank didn't seem too promising. At the very least, talents were straightforward- sothing that could directly upgrade any NPC who received a new talent. Imagine, if they gained sword mastery, they could easily move into the guards or knights division.
"Good choice," Freya comnted, giggling softly.
Broken tore the scroll.
[Activating the Talent Scroll (Common)]
[The scroll will convert into a specific talent.]
[Randomizing the result...]
[Randomizing complete.]
[You have obtained 1 Sudden Sneezer Talent Scroll.]
[The Sudden Sneezer Talent grants the user an inclination to sneeze unexpectedly, surprising everyone around them.]
Broken sighed after reading the talent he had received. "Sudden Sneezer Talent... truly, a highly useful talent."
Freya giggled at Broken's complaint. "It's just like the talent Mortar has, that builder, rember?"
"Yeah, Irresistible Yawner, makes him yawn all day long, and it's contagious to everyone around him."
"Well, it's only a common grade. Maybe we just got unlucky."
"Yeah... really bad." With that, Broken saved the scroll to his Inventory. "But I'm still curious to try again."
[You have spent 75 Reputation Points to purchase a Talent Scroll (Common)]
[You have obtained 1 Talent Scroll (Common)]
Broken imdiately bought the sa item again and grinned at Freya.
"Are you seriously spending all your points?"
"Well, we can figure out how to earn more points later, but I'm curious about what kind of talent this scroll will give . I an, if I get sothing useless twice..."
"I think it's because the grade is common, so you shouldn't expect much. See?"
"Yeah, but it says 'common,' not 'useless.' So I'm hoping for sothing simple, like a cleaning talent, builder talent, or anything useful for work."
"Good, let's see."
Broken nodded and tore the scroll.
[Randomizing the talent...]
[You have obtained 1 Fortune Teller Talent Scroll.]
[The Fortune Teller talent grants the user the ability to foresee future events through divination, offering valuable predictions to aid decision-making.]
"Woah... Fortune Teller? I guess I got lucky this ti. At least this one seems useful."
Freya nodded approvingly.
He continued, "Fortune Teller grants the ability to foresee the future? But how? How can the ga predict the future? Maybe so events are already programd into the system, but if this talent is tested on a player, how would it foresee their future? How does the ga even manage that?"
"It's possible the fortune telling refers to events that the super AI controlling the ga has already predicted," Freya responded. "Or it could just be another fun, mostly useless talent. So, don't take whatever soone with this talent says too seriously."
"Well, at least this one sounds a bit more useful than the first one," he said.
"I think it's quite interesting," Freya remarked. "Why don't you give it to one of the NPCs you
trust?"
"Yeah... good idea. But who?" Broken pondered.
He paused for a mont, considering her suggestion. Then, with sudden enthusiasm, he said,
"I think I know who would make good use of this talent. Follow ."
With that, he turned and began walking away.
Broken and Freya entered the House of Slumdon, and as they stepped inside, Yara quickly approached them, her warm smile accompanied by a deep bow.
She was dressed in a maid's uniform: a white blouse paired with a black skirt that fell just
below her knees.
"My Lord, is there anything I can help you with?"
"Hi, Yara, yes, I have sothing interesting to show you," Broken replied.
Yara tilted her head, curiosity written on her face. "Yes, My Lord?"
"Follow ," Broken instructed as he started toward the living room sofa.
Freya followed closely, with Yara trailing behind. Once they were seated, Freya leaned in,
whispering,
"Broken... are you sure you want to give her that talent? She's already swamped with all the work she does around here."
Broken nodded. "If you ask which NPC I trust the most in this town, of course, it's Yara.
And I'm not asking her to beco a full-ti fortune teller. I just want to give her the talent and see how she'll use it. It's not about adding more to her workload. I'd only ask for her help if it's really needed. Plus, who knows if this talent will even work well?"
Yara's expression shifted slightly, showing curiosity and a bit of confusion. "What can I do for
you, My Lord?
Broken took out the talent scroll and held it up for Yara to see.
"Yara, this is a Fortune Teller talent scroll. If you tear it, you'll receive the Fortune Teller
talent. But I don't know exactly how it will affect you-I an, how the talent works. So,
you'd be the first to try this kind of talent scroll. You don't have to accept it if you don't want
to."
"Huh... Fortune Teller, like playing with Tarot?" Yara asked, tilting her head.
"Tarot?" Broken turned to Freya. "Is the Tarot she's talking about the sa as what we
know?"
Freya nodded. "Yes, it's the sa Tarot here. There are even players with a class that lets them use Tarot cards in battle. It's pretty unique since they can almost use all the cards from a
Tarot deck."
Broken nodded and then looked back at Yara. "I'm not sure about the details, but you can give
it a try."
Yara smiled brightly. "My Lord, if you really wish to give this talent, I'd be honored to
accept it."
"Alright, take it." Broken handed her the talent scroll without hesitation.
Yara paused for a brief mont, then tore the scroll in half.
[Congratulations! You have successfully bestowed a new talent to an NPC for the first ti, and as a reward for this accomplishnt, you have earned 50 Reputation Points.]
