What had suddenly gotten into this girl...? Xavier internally questioned as he looked at the slightly excited but anxious expression on Millie’s face. He felt strange; his impression of Millie was that she was a happy-go-lucky girl, and for so reason she had grown attached to him.

But now there was sothing different about Millie, sothing faint yet familiar, though he just couldn’t put his finger on it.

Not just Millie, but Jackie as well. The frown on Xavier’s face deepened. Walking so distance away was the mature beauty Jackie. She was dressed in a tight-fitted turtleneck white sweatshirt that clung tightly to her skin, highlighting a top-tier figure that could make any man drool. Coupled with the sleek black joggers, Jackie could easily beco the center of attention of the crowd if not for the princess’s almost divine, graceful presence accompanying them. Dressed in a royal gown, Evelyn did not allow Jackie and Millie to steal all the spotlight.

After a mont of thought, his focus once more returned to the matter at hand.

Just at this mont, his gaze coincidentally t Jackie’s. In that brief mont of eye contact, he could see panic spreading through Jackie’s eyes before, with a swift jerk, Jackie turned her head away.

Xavier looked lost. He had no idea what the hell was going on, but one thing was certain: Jackie had been reacting just slightly strangely.

After a mont of thought, Xavier shook his head to get rid of unnecessary thoughts. Now was not the ti for this. Today he could finally make contact with his sister. No one in this world truly knew just how much he cared about his sister Lina. If anything happened to her because of this apocalypse... Just at this ti, a chill ran down his spine. He almost instantly slapped his face. "Just what am I even thinking? Of course nothing could happen to her."

However, no matter how much he tried to resist, multiple negative possibilities popped into his head.

All of this was his logical side taking over. The situation was very bad. He himself had seen bodies piled on top of bodies forming mountains, yet his heart refused to accept it.

However, as a believer of infinite possibilities, he was able to remain sane.

It was at this ti a slightly arrogant voice ca from the front.

Sunark, who was leading them through the village to the temporary-built temple, turned his head and proudly proclaid, "We are at the temple of Great Lady Thalia, a First Sequence Bloomancer!"

The look of admiration on his face was real when he ntioned Lady Thalia, his chest puffed up high.

Before Xavier could process everything, Sunark spoke once again. "We pay our homage to Great Lady Thalia!" With those words he bowed perfectly ninety degrees. Not just him, even the elven princess was no exception.

Millie looked confused for a mont, taken aback by the sudden turn of events, but she was brought up in a training household so she was slightly familiar with the gesture and decided to follow suit.

Jackie, although not as invested, still bowed as everyone else was doing the sa.

The only being who was still standing upright was Xavier.

For so reason he didn’t want to bow, and he did just that.

He wasn’t here to pay homage to anyone, nor was he here to beg.

On the surface Xavier might appear slightly rude or even downright disrespectful; after all, not only had Princess Evelyn helped him find Lina, but she had even provided Xavier a palace to stay in. If it wasn’t for this village, Xavier might have spent the rest of the night fighting with the monsters roaming around.

Of course, this was what these elves wanted him to think.

Xavier almost snorted at that thought. "What about what they take in return? Why ? Why am I the one here, and not any random human that died under the claws of frozen wolves or jellied wasps?"

The answer was clear to all.

As such, there was no need to weaken his position. As much as he needed the elves’ help, they also needed him.

However, this was just one reason. The second reason being, he didn’t like bowing. Today he would be bowing to so random stranger, then next what?

So might say it was their culture and Xavier should follow it, but what about his culture? His culture was not bowing to random strangers.

For now he did not want to bow. If in the future he genuinely felt impressed, he might change his mind.

With these thoughts going through his mind, Xavier stood tall like a spear, his two eyes locked onto the simple wooden idol in front. Just one look and Xavier felt his mind shake. Suddenly, for a very brief mont, his surroundings seed to have changed into a sea of blood, a terrifying bloodlust assaulting his senses.

Xavier felt his knees go weak. The world around him blurred, spinning in circles; any mont now he might collapse.

He was not rely "not feeling well"; it was as if he was really about to collapse.

It was just at this mont Xavier suddenly felt a cold sensation filling his brain, helping him get rid of the bloodlust.

"There are consequences for disrespecting a higher-sequence being. If it wasn’t for , your head might have burst open like a waterlon."

Zerin’s slightly somber voice echoed in his head. There was even a hint of tiredness in it, as if helping Xavier just now had ntally drained her.

Dealing with an evolved First Sequence being while still being a non-evolved was no joke.

The fact that Zerin was simply tied to Xavier also greatly limited her strength to the point she was no better than Xavier and might even be weaker than him in certain aspects.

Xavier was also no different. Although he might have killed the First Sequence fire-breathing tiger, that was when his stats were boosted with the help of the Deathwill Executioner aura. Now he was not under the effect of any bonus.

Finally, after a mont of weakness, Xavier’s body returned to normal. He raised his hand, bringing it closer to his nose, wiping the streak of red that had slid down from his nostrils.

Xavier looked at the crimson patch with slight shock in his eyes.

"Blood."
