Max stared at him, and almost failed to suppress a grin when he noticed the almost unnoticeable shift in his breathing after he asked this.

On the other side, Vivian shot a covert, angry glare at Henry and beca a little nervous, afraid that her children might feel sothing wrong.

’Why did he have to ask this in front of them?’ She grumbled, but didn’t say anything because she knew Max wouldn’t let her. So, she could only hope Max would give a good enough reason.

Max, in a calm voice, said, "There is nothing to worry about, but she fell while arranging things and twisted her ankle. As for why she is so exhausted, well, it’s my fault."

While Alex and Anna didn’t have much of a reaction to his words, Henry and Vivian held their breath, for completely different reasons though.

The look in his eyes deepened when he saw this and felt a dark thrill well up in his heart. For a mont, he wanted to tell the truth and see what reaction Henry might have, but knowing he shouldn’t do it, he erased the impulsive thought and said,

"You guys know I just ca to the mansion and know almost nothing about everything going on. So, I had asked Aunt Vivian to arrange the files and tell everything I needed to know about the current situation. All that naturally was very exhausting for her."

Vivian let out a hidden sigh of relief upon hearing this while Henry looked a bit disappointed for a mont before he nodded and said, "Yeah, I understand. All the worries she carried for the past few days had already drained her, so this task must have been more exhausting for her."

Anna squeezed her mother’s hand in response of which Vivian gave her a reassuring smile, telling her that she was alright.

Seeing this, Anna looked at Max, and hesitantly said, "Um, Sir Max, can I ask you sothing?"

"Of course, you can. Also, when others are not present, you can call Brother Max if you like." Max smiled.

Vivian’s eyes narrowed slightly when she heard this and she had a premonition.

Both Alex and Anna let out a breath of relief when they heard this and Henry also relaxed.

"That’s great news!" Anna exclaid in excitent, squeezing her mother’s hand.

Both Anna and Alex reddened and Anna muttered, averting her eyes, "I-It’s not that. I just..."

Max glanced at her, smiled and stood up, "Alright, everyone. Please excuse now."

Henry, Anna and Alex stood up. Vivian also wanted to, but Max shook his head and told her to stay seated.

Then, with Henry, Anna and Alex accompanying him, he walked to the door, waved them goodbyes and walked out, soon disappearing from their sight.

"Dad, do you think he was speaking the truth?" Alex asked Henry, walking back to the living room.

Hearing this, Anna also looked at him, suddenly feeling a little skeptical.

"I believe he was." Henry said after thinking for a mont. "As for whether he really has a thod to counteract the radiation... We will only know when the ti cos."

"Hmm." The siblings nodded, half their relief vanishing.

Vivian heard everything and seeing their worried looks, she frowned and said, "He really has a thod. You all don’t need to doubt it."
