After having his say with Luyao mbers, Xunze turned to Yun Ming and Lady ixu, "Are you both returning with ? We had paid a special price to open the grand teleportation."
Lady ixiu sighed and nodded.
Yun Ming spoke, "I was given a separate assignnt. I will be following him."
ixiu spoke, "What did his summon tell you? We saw it ca and spoke to you about sothing."
Yun Ming had a shiver run down his spine; he cald himself and spoke, "It said, 'Inform your clan to leave the boy alone or accept him as their master.'"
For a second, everyone in the hall was shocked. The Yuanjing was a large clan with a Qi lord as patriarch of the clan presided over it. Even if it was a Qi master level summon, it was asking a Qi lord and the whole clan to accept the boy as master, not as a clan mber.
Xunze frowned again.
Soon, all three mbers of the Yuanjing clan left. Only Luyao clan mbers were left behind to discuss what to do next.
Wangzhe spoke, "What was that? I will not let the kid go after insulting our clan, our fort when we fed that bastard food, and he burned our granaries. Yuanjing is not going to compensate either. We have to make him pay."
Wangzhe's petty ego was hurt badly.
Zhenli just shook his head, as did the advisor. Congming sighed and spoke, "Wangzhe, you need to wise up, or there will be many challenges in the future for you. Advisor, explain it to him."
The advisor said, "We cannot hurt Wuyi. His summons were not normal. It seems his mother's side bloodline is more ancient than we can fathom. He showed us rcy. If you try to do anything, the clan mbers will kill you. It is Yuanjing's business; it will only hurt us more.
The best course of action is to distance ourselves. Either Yuanjing will end the child or bring him as heir, but that depends on the decisions of elders."
Wangzhe spoke, "But the kid already expressed he wants nothing to do with the clan. Why would he go back to them? They killed Boluo."
This ti, it was Zhenli who spoke. "You underestimate these clans. They are millennia-old. If they can inflict a wound, they also possess the power to heal it. Should they wish for the heir to return, sooner or later, Wuyi will go back. Thanks to our father's wisdom, we were spared from Wuyi's wrath.
Had he chosen to, he could have massacred us all and reduced Lujingbao to ashes; we would not have been able to stop him. Moreover, even if he doesn't accept Yuanjing, considering his imnse power, he might actually destroy Yuanjing in the future should they continue to provoke him.
However, since we have maintained our distance and, despite our errors, provided him with everything we could—even as a bastard—we can hope to start afresh with him when the ti cos. You need to stop regarding him as rely a bastard; he is far stronger than us. Without respect, we invite trouble. I'm aware you sent warriors to find him; I've taken the liberty of recalling them."
That sa day, Yun Xunze and Lady ixiu left Lujinbo fort to go to the Yuanjing clan to inform the clan. While Yun Ming left the fort to go to the lower town, carrying a bloodline jade to help him track Wuyi.
In the town just beneath the towering Lujingbao Castle, Tumu was not in his best mood today. Not because they all called him a simple fool. The label "simple fool" never bothered him; perhaps he was a simple fool, and he accepted it. But for the last few months, he had spent his days laboring at the docks, lifting heavy crates and sacks for rchants and sailors.
At night, he would drink only one vat of wine to not spend too much.
Tumu had no family to speak of. He had arrived from the borderlands a few years ago, a survivor of a village that had been raided and burned to the ground. His distant relatives in the town took him in until he could earn his keep.
He had a liking for a girl nad Kaili, but she, like the rest of the town, considered him a simple fool. She had left with a sailor, leaving Tumu to his solitary existence.
Today was supposed to be different. All the Taels he had saved were supposed to be celebrated today; he had been looking forward to the Spring Festival. The annual celebration that brought the whole town together. However, the morning brought grim news: Lujingbao fort had been attacked by demonic cultivators, and Springfest was canceled.
Disappointed, a bit upset, and a bit hungry, Tumu decided to treat himself. He headed to a local tavern and ordered a traditional dish of "Yanju Chicken," a whole chicken boiled in a broth of exotic spices and herbs, accompanied by a jug of rice wine.
As Tumu was savoring the flavors of his al, a boy walked in and sat opposite him. The boy wore dirty gray robes; his face was deathly pale, and he looked almost too weak to walk; he was holding a stick to support himself. No one noticed the boy for so reason, but if anyone did, they would see how he carried an air of dignity that suggested he ca from a good family.
Tumu nodded at him, a silent greeting.
When the server ca over, Tumu gestured towards the boy and said, "Get him half the chicken." The server was surprised at first, wondering what boy? Then he turned and looked at the boy sitting opposite Tumu; for so reason, the server forgot he was just surprised and wondering what boy Tumu was talking about.
Now he felt that the boy had co with Tumu and had been sitting with him from the very start. There was nothing out of the ordinary.
Tumu looked at the boy and added, "No wine for you." The boy nodded, and soon enough, they were both eating in peaceful silence.
