The bustling streets of Shanghai pulsed with life, a stark contrast to the tranquil mountain village of Yunxi. Skyscrapers stretched towards the heavens, their gleaming facades reflecting the afternoon sun. In a luxurious apartnt high above the city, Zhang i stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, her hand resting gently on her swollen belly. She gazed out at the urban landscape, but her mind was far away, consud by an inexplicable sense of unease.
Sun Lixia, Li Chen’s mother, watched her daughter-in-law with a mixture of concern and affection. "Zhang i, dear, why don’t you sit down? You’ve been standing there for quite so ti now."
Zhang i turned, offering a weak smile to her mother-in-law. "I’m sorry, I just... I can’t shake this feeling that sothing’s wrong."
Li Xiaojun, Li Chen’s father, looked up from his newspaper, his brow furrowing. "Wrong? What do you an?"
Zhang i shook her head, struggling to put her feelings into words. "I don’t know exactly. It’s just... a sense of dread, I suppose. Like sothing terrible is happening, or about to happen."
Sun Lixia rose from her seat, crossing the room to place a comforting hand on Zhang i’s shoulder. "Sweetheart, it’s probably just your pregnancy hormones. I rember feeling all sorts of strange things when I was carrying the twins."
But Zhang i wasn’t convinced. The feeling in her gut was too strong, too insistent to be dismissed so easily. "No, it’s more than that. I’ve felt those hormone-induced mood swings before, but this is different. It’s like... like a part of knows Li Chen is in danger."
Li Xiaojun set his newspaper aside, his face growing serious. "Have you tried calling him?"
Zhang i nodded, already reaching for her phone. "I was just about to. Maybe hearing his voice will put my mind at ease."
With trembling fingers, she dialed Li Chen’s number. The phone rang once, twice, three tis... and then went to voicemail. Zhang i’s heart sank, but she tried to remain calm. "He didn’t answer. Maybe he’s just busy with his training."
Sun Lixia and Li Xiaojun exchanged worried glances. They knew their son well enough to know he would always answer a call from his pregnant wife, no matter how engrossed he was in his training.
"Try again," Li Xiaojun suggested, his own worry beginning to grow.
Zhang i nodded, redialing the number. Again, the call went unanswered. She tried a third ti, then a fourth, each attempt increasing her sense of panic.
"Sothing’s wrong," she said, her voice quavering. "He always answers my calls, always. Even if he’s in the middle of intense training, he at least sends a quick text to let know he’s okay."
Sun Lixia’s motherly instincts kicked into high gear. She had been trying to stay calm for Zhang i’s sake, but now her own fears began to surface. The prophecy that had haunted her dreams for months now echoed in her mind: Li Chen would die for love in his coming battle.
"Li Xiaojun," she said, turning to her husband, "call Xinjie. Ask him to go to Chen Yunlong’s villa and check on Li Chen."
Li Xiaojun nodded, already dialing their other son’s number. As he spoke quietly to Li Xinjie, explaining the situation, Sun Lixia guided Zhang i to the couch.
"Sit down, dear," she said gently. "Stress isn’t good for the baby. We’ll get to the bottom of this, I promise."
Zhang i sank onto the couch, her hands cradling her belly protectively. "I can’t help but worry. What if... what if the prophecy is coming true?"
Sun Lixia’s heart clenched at those words, but she forced herself to remain outwardly calm. "We don’t know that for certain. Let’s not jump to conclusions. Xinjie will check on Li Chen, and I’m sure everything will be fine."
Li Xiaojun ended his call with Li Xinjie and turned to the won. "Xinjie’s on his way to Chen Yunlong’s villa now. He said he’d call as soon as he knows anything."
The next hour was one of the longest in their lives. Zhang i alternated between pacing the room and sitting with her head in her hands, while Sun Lixia and Li Xiaojun tried their best to distract her with light conversation. But the tension in the air was palpable, growing thicker with each passing minute.
Finally, Li Xiaojun’s phone rang. He answered it imdiately, putting it on speaker so they could all hear.
"Dad," Li Xinjie’s voice ca through, sounding strained. "I’m at Master Chen’s villa. Li Chen isn’t here."
Sun Lixia leaned forward, her knuckles white as she gripped the armrest of her chair. "What do you an he’s not there? Where is he?"
There was a pause, and they could hear Li Xinjie taking a deep breath. "According to Master Chen, Li Chen left in a hurry earlier today. He... he went to Yunxi village."
The room fell silent for a mont as the implications of this news sank in. Zhang i was the first to break the silence, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yunxi... that’s where the portal is, isn’t it? The one Zhang Yiming is after?"
Li Xiaojun nodded grimly. "Yes, it is."
Sun Lixia felt her world tilting on its axis. Her worst fears were coming true. The prophecy, the danger she had hoped to protect her son from, was unfolding before her eyes.
"Xinjie," she said, her voice shaking slightly, "did Master Chen say anything else? Why did Li Chen go there?"
"He said it was urgent," Li Xinjie replied. "Apparently, Zhang Yiming is already there, threatening the villagers. Li Chen went to stop him and protect the portal."
Zhang i let out a choked sob, her hands protectively cradling her belly. "He’s facing Zhang Yiming alone? But the prophecy... he could die!"
Sun Lixia moved to sit beside her daughter-in-law, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Shh, we don’t know that for certain. Li Chen is strong, and he has the God of War’s soul within him. We must have faith in him."
But even as she spoke these words of comfort, Sun Lixia felt her own heart breaking. She had always known her son was destined for greatness, but she had never imagined it would co at such a terrible price.
Li Xiaojun, seeing the distress on both won’s faces, made a quick decision. "Xinjie, stay at Master Chen’s villa. We’ll et you there shortly. We need to figure out our next move."
After ending the call, Li Xiaojun turned to Zhang i. "Zhang i, I think it would be best if you went to your mother’s place for now. We’ll keep you updated on everything, but in your condition, it’s not safe for you to travel to Yunxi."
Zhang i shook her head vehently. "No, I want to co with you. I need to be there for Li Chen!"
Sun Lixia gently squeezed her hand. "I understand how you feel, dear, but Li Xiaojun is right. You’re in your last trister, and the stress of travel could be dangerous for you and the baby. Li Chen would want you to stay safe."
Tears welled up in Zhang i’s eyes. "But what if... what if sothing happens to him? What if I never see him again?"
The words hung heavy in the air, giving voice to the fear they all shared but had been too afraid to articulate.
Li Xiaojun knelt in front of Zhang i, taking her hands in his. "Zhang i, listen to . Our son is strong, stronger than we ever imagined. He has faced countless challenges and erged victorious. We have to believe in him now more than ever."
Sun Lixia nodded, adding her own reassurance. "And he’s not alone. He has the wisdom and power of the God of War to guide him. We must have faith that he will overco this challenge as well."
Zhang i took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to calm herself. She knew they were right, that traveling in her condition could be dangerous. But the thought of staying behind while Li Chen faced such peril was almost unbearable.
"Promise ," she said, looking from Sun Lixia to Li Xiaojun, "promise you’ll do everything in your power to help him. And that you’ll call the mont you know anything."
"We promise," Sun Lixia said solemnly, with Li Xiaojun nodding in agreent.
As Li Xiaojun made arrangents for Zhang i to be taken to her mother’s house, Sun Lixia sprang into action. She may have been out of the martial world for years, focusing on her role as a mother, but she hadn’t forgotten her connections or her skills.
With swift efficiency, she began making calls, mobilizing every resource at her disposal. Old friends were contacted, favors were called in, and within an hour, a team of skilled martial artists was assembled and ready to move.
As they prepared to leave for Chen Yunlong’s villa, Sun Lixia paused to embrace Zhang i one last ti. "Stay strong, my dear," she whispered. "For yourself, for the baby, and for Li Chen. We’ll bring him back to you, I swear it."
Zhang i nodded, tears streaming down her face. "Please... please be careful. And tell Li Chen... tell him I love him, and that he’d better co back to us."
With heavy hearts, Sun Lixia and Li Xiaojun left the apartnt, their minds already racing with plans and strategies. As they drove through the bustling streets of Shanghai towards Chen Yunlong’s villa, the sprawling cityscape seed to fade away, replaced by visions of the remote mountain village where their son now fought for his life and the fate of the world.
Sun Lixia stared out the car window, her face a mask of determination. She had spent years trying to protect her children from the dangers of the martial world, but now that world had co calling in the most terrible way possible. The prophecy that had haunted her dreams was unfolding, but she refused to accept it as inevitable.
"Hold on, Li Chen," she whispered, her words carried away by the rush of wind outside the car. "We’re coming. Just hold on."
As the car sped through the city, leaving the glittering skyscrapers behind, Sun Lixia and Li Xiaojun steeled themselves for the battle ahead. They didn’t know exactly what they would face in Yunxi village, but they were prepared to move heaven and earth to save their son.
The sun was setting as they arrived at Chen Yunlong’s villa, casting long shadows across the manicured grounds. Li Xinjie was waiting for them at the entrance, his face etched with worry. As they stepped out of the car, the gravity of the situation settled over them like a heavy cloak.
The battle for Li Chen’s life – and perhaps the fate of the world – had begun. And his family was determined to do whatever it took to ensure that the prophecy of his death remained unfulfilled.
