Mada Gu moved closer to her daughter and said, "You know we have to wait. Your Grandma had given you guys a period of 6 years"
"Mom, what did I ever do to deserve such hatred from Grandma, I am her granddaughter"
Master Gu’s anger shot the roof seeing his precious daughter crying and said, "Don’t worry princess, only two months left and you will be free from this crazy marriage"
"Dad, what if I can’t get a husband after all this?"
"You will... You are beautiful and you have many suitors waiting for your divorce" Mada Gu said as she caressed her daughter’s hand.
"So you called here so I can watch you people being affectionate?" God of War was getting irritated and the words ca out of Li Chen’s mouth unexpectedly.
Everyone turned their attention back to Li Chen and Master Gu said, "We have not settled the fact that you beat my son"
"Let’s settle it now then, I have things to do" Li Chen said with an emotionless voice.
"So you have grown balls to talk back to ?"
"I think I had to be born with balls to determine that I am a boy right?" Li Chen chuckled a little, finding the words funny. The words were coming out his mouth but they were a surprise for him.
"You... You..!"
Master Gu’s anger surged like a tempest within him, a turbulent whirlwind of emotions threatening to consu his composure. His normally serene countenance twisted into a thunderous scowl, the lines on his forehead deepening into pronounced creases as his eyes flashed with a fiery intensity. The air around him seed to grow heavy, charged with an electric tension that crackled with his displeasure.
His chest heaved with each breath, each exhalation laden with the force of his ire. His lips, usually curved into a wise and patient smile, now curled into a sneer, revealing clenched teeth that ground together audibly.
Master Gu’s hatred for Li Chen was a consuming fire, an emotion that simred just beneath the surface, waiting to erupt like a volcanic eruption. Every fibre of his being bristled with animosity whenever he encountered Li Chen. The re ntion of Li Chen’s na sent a shiver down his spine, and the sight of his face filled Master Gu with an intense, seething rage.
In the presence of Li Chen, Master Gu’s countenance transford into a mask of loathing. His normally serene and composed deanour shattered like fragile glass, replaced by a visage contorted by disdain.
Li Chen’s response fueled his rage to an uncontrollable extent and he scanned the room before setting his eyes on an expensive vase next to him.
Master Gu picked up the vase and threw it directly at Li Chen’s face.
Clad!
A large sound startled everyone in the living room and they all turned their heads to look at Li Chen.
Everyone had expected to see blood gushing from Li Chen’s face but they were all astonished when they faced him.
With a smug on his face, Li Chen slowly put his hands on his pockets and said, "That vase must have cost a lot, you shouldn’t do that next ti"
"You bastard!" Gu Hua stood up and tried to punch Li Chen but the punch hit an empty space and Gu Hua stumbled and fell.
"You need to work on your balance young man" Li Chen chuckled again after the words ca out his mouth. Deep down he knew that God of War had gotten him in a lot of trouble but he was enjoying the show like a person standing on the side. He had suffered so much in the hands of the Gu family in the past 5 years and seeing them like this made his heart jump with little joy.
"Get the hell out of my sight!" Master Gu said with a trembling voice.
"Finally!" Li Chen said and walked out the living room.
"Mum, Dad, we need to get rid of him." Gu Hua said as he tried to stand up.
"Brother is right. I can’t take this anymore. Now the man is starting to lose his mind, this will be an embarrassnt to our family."
Master Gu sat down slowly and took a few deep breaths trying to calm down his angry heart and said, "Only two months left and this will all be over"
"But Hubby what if he goes out and people notice that he is crazy, that would be the last straw for our daughter"
"Dad, I have an idea!"
"Speak!"
"How about we keep him locked inside the basent until the end of the remaining two months?"
"Yes! Brother is right. Dad lets keep him locked so I can live my life peacefully without his presence."
"Hubby I think the kids are right, we should keep him here and get the guards to make sure that he doesn’t leave the house"
Master Gu listened to his family’s conversation... Deep in thought.
After a few minutes he said, "No we won’t do that, we should honour mother’s dying wishes. We have already mistreated him enough. Let him have his freedom"
"But Dad!" Gu Liang tried to complain but she knew how far she should go when talking to her father.
"That is the last of this conversation. I have to go to the office" Master Gu prepared to leave but his mind was racing. He couldn’t understand the changes in Li Chen’s behaviour and that worried him. For soone who had been in the business world for ages, he hated dealing with soone he couldn’t understand.
His experience told him that there was sothing going on with Li Chen but he couldn’t point a finger at it.
After Master Gu left, Mada Gu exchanged glances with her two children and they had already made up their minds on one goal... to keep Li Chen locked up without informing Master Gu.
"Mom, if we lock him up, how long do you think it would take dad to notice?" Gu Hua asked.
"Probably two weeks, your father is always busy with office work. He leaves early and cos back late."
"Mom, I think we should do it. I have a date tonight and I don’t want that fool standing in my way of a perfect marriage" Gu Liang said blushing slightly.
"A date!" Mada Gu and Gu Hua asked in unison.
"Yes, San Gang had been trying to ask out on a date for years now and I finally agreed"
"Sun Gang!" The mother and son asked in unison again, shock and excitent written all over their faces.
"Honey you an the son of the famous Master Sun... Sun Gang"
"Yes mother, we t at a party years ago when I had just gotten married and he had been courting ever since"
"And you kept the news from your parents!"
"Mom, you know everyone knows I am married and dad warned about infidelity"
"Yes... Yes... But now your marriage is ending so you can start dating freely"
"That is why I also agreed to going out with him"
"My God, sister I am about to be related to Sun Gang!" Gu Hua said excitedly.
"We haven’t talked that far so don’t get over excited"
"I am sure he wants to marry you otherwise he wouldn’t have courted you for so long if he wasn’t serious"
"You think so mom?"
"I know so honey. I have experience with n you should talk to about things like this"
Mada Gu’s excitent was beyond words and she could already imagine the future of being related to the famous and rich Sun family.
The Sun family was a na that resonated with grandeur and opulence throughout the city. As the second wealthiest family in the region, their influence reached far and wide, and they were the undisputed aristocracy of the urban landscape. Every corner of the city seed to bear the mark of their prosperity.
Their grand mansion, an architectural marvel, stood as a testant to their affluence. It sprawled across ticulously landscaped grounds, complete with ornate gardens, koi ponds, and intricate sculptures. The mansion itself was a fusion of modern extravagance and classical elegance, with its soaring columns, chandeliers dripping with crystal, and opulent marble floors.
The Sun family’s prominence extended beyond their estate. They were known for their philanthropic endeavours, endowing hospitals, universities, and cultural institutions that bore their na. Generations of the Sun family had served on charitable boards and held positions of prestige in the city’s social and political circles.
The family’s influence was not confined to the realm of philanthropy; it perated the city’s economic and comrcial sectors. Their business empire encompassed diverse industries, from finance to real estate, technology to manufacturing. Their na carried a certain magic that could open doors, secure deals, and command respect.
In the eyes of the city’s inhabitants, the Sun family was the closest thing to royalty. They were revered not just for their wealth but also for their grace, sophistication, and commitnt to civic betternt. Their charitable banquets were lavish affairs attended by the city’s elite, and their patronage of the arts elevated the cultural landscape of the region.
Yet, there was one enigma that shrouded the Sun family’s prestige—the identity of the first richest family remained a mystery, hidden behind layers of secrecy. Despite the Sun family’s imnse wealth and influence, the first richest family’s shadowy existence only added to their mystique.
In the hearts of the city’s denizens, the Sun family held a special place. They were a symbol of aspiration, a reminder that in this bustling tropolis, dreams of prosperity could be realised. While the first richest family may remain unknown, to the people of the city, the Sun family was unequivocally number one in their hearts, an embodint of success, elegance, and the limitless possibilities of urban life.
It was every girl’s dream to marry a Sun and Mada Gu and Gu Hua were happy that Gu Liang was the lucky one. The current generation of the Sun family only had two sons and Sun Gang was the first son and had a younger brother. For Gu Liang to occupy the position of being the first son’s wife ant a lot to Mada Gu.
