Liam moved around the dungeon alone, and it did not take him long to co across hordes of monsters.

However, the monsters were much tougher than before, and they were much more ferocious as well. They charged at Liam, almost as if they wanted to tear him apart. But he was ready for their assault and braced himself.

"They’re coming from your side as well. Reinforce it if you don’t want to break a bone on impact."

Asger advised, but Liam was already doing that even before he heard Asger’s advice.

His biggest weakness at the current mont was his fragile human body. It was sothing he could not overco quickly since he needed ti to make it adjust to magic. Otherwise, he would damage it beyond repair.

That was a fate Liam needed to avoid at all costs.

Another beast charged at Liam the second he recovered, and Liam was forced to push his magic into his feet to leap up and counter by attacking the beast.

The beast went down, and the others charged at him.

Liam took out almost a dozen of them before the beasts suddenly gained awareness and started to be wary of him. They walked away from him, realizing that Liam was a danger to their survival.

"Oi, human! They are running away. Should I block their path—"

Asger almost leaped off Liam’s shoulder when Liam caught him and held him in place.

The half-dragon was about to chew him out when he noticed that Liam was not looking at the monsters but instead behind him with narrowed eyes.

Once Asger concentrated and turned to look there as well, it beca clear why Liam had acted this way. It was because of the presence that was following them around.

Clap

Neither Liam nor Asger said anything, but the person following them clapped as they shook off their invisibility.

Liam was not startled, but he did stiffen as Darius’s figure made itself visible to him. Liam had noticed the man a while back, but since Darius was not trying to be his enemy, he left him alone.

"Did I get discovered too quickly? Well, that is not a problem. Especially when I got to see sothing this good in return. What did you say your na was, kid? And what class are you?"

Darius asked, and he looked interested.

Liam could feel Darius’s magic trying to investigate him, and the system window popped up not even a second later.

[Warning: Soone is trying to peek at your information window. Would you like to block them?]

The system asked, but Liam had a better idea.

Now that he had more control over his senses as well as his powers, he wanted to try and create a fake window that could fool most people.

Liam focused his magic into the system and ford a temporary window. He allowed Darius’s magic to interact with it, but he also made sure that he would be able to see it as well.

[Na: Nico Vale

A system window like this was far less effective in summarizing soone’s skills and what they could do. Liam knew that, so he relied as little on it as he could.

But the people of this ti had gotten used to this system-like thing and relied on it as well. That was why they limited their potential and did not try hard, even if they could... in most cases.

"A C-class? That can’t be right. You have to be at least B-class to be able to take these monsters out. Is there a glitch in the system?"

Darius asked in a suspicious voice.

Liam quickly covered up his expression and spoke to the older male.

"I trained hard to strengthen myself. Even if I am a C-class, I don’t think I will lose to a B-class right now. If that was all you wanted to say to , then I should leave now. I don’t want to stay and waste my ti anymore."

Liam almost left when Darius quickly recovered and reached out to grab Liam’s shoulder.

"Hey, wait—"

Liam felt the weight of Darius’s hand land on his shoulder.

His instincts flared, and before he could even think, he grabbed Asger by the tail, preventing the half-dragon from lunging forward to sink his teeth into the offending hand.

Asger thrashed in Liam’s grip, his small, lizard-like body wriggling furiously as he bared his sharp teeth at Darius.

"Let bite him! Just one bite! I swear I won’t go for the whole arm—just a couple of fingers!"

Asger growled, his tail lashing in frustration.

Liam sighed, already used to the half-dragon’s temper. With a flick of his fingers, a thin layer of magic wrapped around Asger’s mouth, effectively silencing him.

The little creature’s golden eyes widened in betrayal, and he clawed at the magic barrier, his muffled protests still audible.

Darius watched the whole exchange with a raised brow, his cautious amusent laced with wariness. Liam turned his cold gaze back to him.

"Don’t touch so casually. Otherwise, you will lose more than a few fingers."

Liam said flatly.

The sheer weight of his presence, the quiet but absolute authority in his voice, made Darius stiffen.

His fingers twitched, and then, as if compelled by an unseen force, he let go of Liam’s shoulder and took a step back.

This kid... isn’t normal.

Darius prided himself on being able to read people, to gauge their strength at a glance. But with Liam, it was different. He felt sothing lurking beneath the surface—sothing dangerous.

It excited him and scared him at the sa ti. He wondered what it would take to drag this kid’s true nature to the surface and ignite it.

Liam rolled his shoulder as if brushing off the contact and looked at Darius with mild disinterest.

"If you have sothing to say, say it."
