"You picked the wrong alley. I suggest you leave before I make you regret it."

Bianca growled, stepping between the orphan and the demon.

The demon chuckled, its voice a sickening mix of human and sothing far worse.

"How amusing. A human, trying to interfere."

It lunged.

Bianca reacted instantly. She twisted her body, narrowly avoiding the creature’s razor-sharp claws.

With a swift movent, she gathered energy in her palm and struck the demon’s side. The force sent it skidding back, but it recovered unnaturally fast.

"Strong. You’ll make a fine appetizer."

The demon mused, licking its lips.

Bianca clenched her fists. She had fought demons before, but sothing about this one felt... different. Stronger.

No ti to hesitate.

She launched another attack, sending a barrage of energy blasts toward the demon. It dodged so but took a direct hit to its shoulder, causing it to let out a guttural snarl.

Behind her, the orphan whimpered.

Bianca stole a glance back.

"Stay behind ."

She ordered, her voice firm but reassuring.

The demon took advantage of her brief distraction and lunged again.

Bianca cursed under her breath, barely managing to raise a protective barrier in ti. The force of the impact sent cracks spiderwebbing across the barrier, but it held.

She had to finish this quickly.

Summoning a deep breath, Bianca focused. She called forth a spell she had rarely used—a sealing technique ant to bind malevolent entities.

She extended her hands, chanting the incantation under her breath.

Golden symbols materialized in the air around the demon, swirling and shifting as they ford an intricate web. The demon’s grin faltered as it realized what was happening.

"You—!"

It snarled, thrashing against the binding magic.

Bianca gritted her teeth, pushing more energy into the spell.

"Not today."

With a final surge of power, the symbols closed in, wrapping around the demon like chains. The creature let out a shriek before vanishing into thin air, sealed away.

Bianca exhaled heavily, lowering her hands.

The alley was silent once more.

She turned to the orphan, who was staring at her with wide, fearful eyes.

"Are you alright?"

She asked gently.

The child nodded hesitantly.

Bianca offered a small smile before kneeling down.

"What’s your na?"

The child hesitated before murmuring.

"Luca."

"Alright, Luca! Let’s get you sowhere safe."

Bianca said.

As she stood up, she cast one last glance at the now-empty alley. The fissure was gone, but the unease in her chest remained.

This was only the beginning.

If demons were starting to infiltrate the human world this easily, then things were about to get much worse.

Bianca led Luca through the quiet streets, making sure no one was following them.

The child clung to her side, small fingers gripping the fabric of her sleeve. His tiny body trembled slightly, no doubt shaken from the terrifying encounter.

Finally, she reached a secluded area behind a bakery, a place she knew would be safe. She knelt down, gently placing her hands on Luca’s shoulders.

"You’ll be okay here. But before you go... I need to do sothing."

She assured him, her voice softer than before.

Luca blinked up at her with wide, confused eyes.

"What do you an?"

Bianca sighed.

"I need to make you forget what happened."

The child’s face fell, and his grip on her sleeve tightened.

"Why?"

"Because it’s safer for you. You don’t need to rember demons or magic. You should live a normal life, free from all this."

Bianca said, brushing so dirt from his cheek.

Luca hesitated, but in the end, he was too young to fight against her decision.

Bianca placed two fingers against his forehead, murmuring an incantation under her breath.

A soft golden glow enveloped his head, and his eyelids fluttered. Slowly, his grip on her loosened, and his body relaxed.

"Go ho, Luca."

Bianca whispered, stepping back.

The child blinked at her, confusion clouding his features. Then, without another word, he turned and wandered away, the mory of the demon erased from his mind.

Bianca watched until he disappeared around the corner, a deep sigh escaping her lips. The weight in her chest didn’t lessen, though. If anything, it only grew heavier.

She needed to patrol more.

As Bianca road the streets, keeping her senses sharp for any demonic disturbances, she turned a corner and nearly bumped into soone.

Both of them stepped back instantly, tensing up as they recognized each other.

Shelly Bell.

The other woman stared at her, sharp blue eyes filled with suspicion. Bianca didn’t trust her, and she was certain Shelly felt the sa way about her.

"What are you doing out here?"

Shelly asked, crossing her arms.

"I could ask you the sa thing."

Bianca replied coolly.

Shelly raised an eyebrow, tilting her head slightly.

"Don’t act like you own the city. I have just as much right to be here as you do."

Bianca huffed but said nothing. It was true, after all.

The two of them stood there, neither wanting to let their guard down first.

Then, sothing strange caught their attention.

A soft humming noise, like a faint whisper of wind, reached their ears. It was subtle, but both of them imdiately turned their heads in the sa direction.

Down an alleyway, a shimring distortion in the air flickered like a broken mirror.

Bianca and Shelly exchanged glances. Their mutual distrust could wait.

They had sothing more important to deal with.

Without a word, they both moved toward the anomaly, keeping their steps light and cautious.

As they approached, the distortion grew more defined, the rippling effect in the air becoming clearer. Then, before their eyes, the portal expanded.

From within, a clawed hand erged.

A demon.

The creature pulled itself through, its grotesque form twisting unnaturally as it stepped into the human world.

Its long, slender body was covered in dark, leathery skin, and its glowing red eyes locked onto them with interest. A slow, malicious grin stretched across its face.

Bianca and Shelly didn’t hesitate.

"You take the left."

Shelly said quickly.

"I was going to say the sa thing."

Bianca replied.

In an instant, both of them launched forward.

Bianca sent a blast of magic straight at the demon’s chest, forcing it back, while Shelly flanked from the side, conjuring sharp ice shards that flew toward its limbs.
