The class finally ended, and the teacher left the room. As soon as she did, the barely concealed excitent among the students erupted, and they began to talk loudly once more.

"Finally, that hag left. Now we can talk more about what we are going to do for the tournant."

"Hey, have you thought about the the already? I know what I am going to do!"

"I have decided as well! I am going to amaze everyone..."

Students were already divided as they discussed what to do next, so it was not hard for Liam to overhear their plans.

The concept of joining a guild and restricting his freedom did not sound great to Liam, but he could understand why most of the students here found it important.

Not everyone could have the sa luck or skill as Liam had.

Actually, from what he had seen so far, most of the students here would be lucky to even be classified as magicians.

"I should head to my next class. I feel like I will be late to this class otherwise."

Liam sighed and left the classroom first.

The hallway felt deserted, and the silence almost felt deafening. But Liam continued to walk quietly toward his class.

He was not the only one paying attention to his surroundings, but Asger was as well. That was why Asger twisted its body backward to bite the hand that threatened to reach for Liam.

Victor pulled his hand back to safety quickly before giving the half-dragon an almost dirty look... which did nothing to deter Asger from reaching to bite Victor once again.

However, this ti, Liam noticed the spell Victor was about to cast, and he held Asger before he could injure himself any further by accident.

"Tsk, let go!"

Asger complained as he was suspended in the air. His sharp teeth threatened to bite through Victor’s hand... or so the half-dragon likely thought.

But Liam knew better and decided that he did not want to deal with the incoming fight.

"Asger, it’s fine. Let’s not think about fighting right now. And you... what do you want from ?"

Liam asked Victor with an almost sour look on his face.

He had nothing personal against Victor...

Actually, it is personal. Every ti this man cos to find , nothing good happens. I don’t think the news he brought this ti is any good either.

The look on Victor’s face was one that made Liam sigh in annoyance. But he kept his cool and decided to face Victor head-on.

"You’re asking what I want from you? Well, what I want from you is simple, Liam. You know the upcoming tournant? I want to form a contract with you regarding that... don’t look so worried! I just need to make sure another guild doesn’t snatch you up."

Victor’s condition sounded too simple, and hearing it made Liam shudder.

His instincts instantly told him that Victor was hiding a lot from him.

"You want to reject other guilds who approach ? And what if I don’t want to do that?"

Liam asked in a curious voice. He was going to accept Victor’s condition, mainly because he did not want to be bothered by others.

But Liam still tried to press his luck to see how far he could go and what he could get out of Victor in return.

Victor smirked as he leaned against the wall, his arms crossed as he watched Liam carefully.

The younger man was clearly trying to gauge his limits, attempting to negotiate, but Victor had played these gas far longer than Liam had.

He knew exactly when to push and when to dangle an enticing reward in front of soone.

"Alright, I’ll throw you a bone. If you sign a contract with for the duration of the tournant, I’ll grant you access to an A-class private dungeon."

Victor said, his smirk widening.

Liam’s eyes widened slightly before he quickly schooled his expression back to neutrality.

An A-class dungeon? Those were nearly impossible to get into without major backing. The resources he could find there would be invaluable, not to ntion the experience he would gain.

He hesitated for only a mont before exhaling and nodding.

"Fine. But only for the duration of the tournant. Once it’s over, this contract is void."

Victor chuckled, clearly pleased with himself.

"Of course. You have my word."

A magical contract ford between them, a shimring golden sigil appearing in the air before splitting in two and embedding itself into their hands.

Liam felt the faint pull of magic binding him to the agreent, a reminder that he was now temporarily associated with Victor and his guild.

With the deal sealed, Liam left the eting and headed ho, his mind still turning over the implications of what he had just agreed to.

He had no intention of staying tied to Victor beyond the tournant, but sothing told him this arrangent wasn’t going to be as simple as he hoped.

As Liam stepped out into the cool night air, he clenched and unclenched his fists, feeling the residual tingle of the magical contract settling into his skin.

He had made his decision, but that didn’t an he trusted Victor.

The man was too smooth, too calculating. Liam had seen enough power plays to recognize when soone was setting the board for a much bigger ga.

Still, an A-class dungeon was too good to pass up. If he played this right, he could gain enough strength to stand on his own without relying on anyone.

That was the goal. No more debts, no more contracts—just his own power, earned through his own efforts.

Reaching his apartnt, he locked the door behind him and pulled up his status window.

His stats had improved significantly over the last few months, but he still wasn’t where he needed to be. The upcoming tournant would be brutal.

The best of the best would be competing, and Victor wouldn’t have approached him if he didn’t think Liam was a worthwhile investnt.

Sighing, he shut the interface with a swipe of his hand. He had a lot of training to do before stepping into that dungeon.
